Why The Slimy Saints Shut Down The Bucs
September 16th, 2022Joe sees what this guy is selling, but Joe isn’t fully ready to cut a check.
Mark Hamilton, a producer for NFL Network — wait a minute, wasn’t he a figure skater? — did a video breakdown of why the slimy Saints have so much success against Tom Brady.
Hamilton makes the case that the slimy Saints aren’t scared and do things against the Bucs that no other team has the stones to try: play man-to-man defense and create pressure on Brady.
Hamilton then shows video from past games to support his premises.
Now Joe isn’t calling Hamilton wrong. He’s right and has video evidence. But if his contention is really that simple, why don’t we see other teams doing the very same thing? You know, other teams have access to All-22, too?
Simply put, the slimy Saints have the right personnel to pull off what they want to accomplish defensively, and have a matchup advantage over the Bucs. But what Hamilton is selling is that simple, then the slimy Saints would have beaten the Bucs in the playoffs in 2020.
The video below is strong and doesn’t offer much hope for the Bucs on Sunday if the slimy Saints were able to shut down the Bucs when they head a healthy offensive line, and with nutcase Antonio Brown and with foot-rubbing Rob Gronkowski.
Interesting video, but it’s not that simple.
Why has the @saints defense given Tom Brady so much trouble? I broke it all down on @gmfb pic.twitter.com/DUWh9IVE3V

Yea we’re gonna get smashed they get extra hype for us n we on the road smh…. 35-10 saints
September 16th, 2022 at 2:33 pm
Pressure up the middle, constant defensive holding and DPI that is uncalled is a big factor. It would help to see some more motion and putting Mike in the slot.
And, the Bucs must MUST run the ball effectively and be committed to it even if it doesn’t go so well at first.
But most of all, DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS. Again, it’s all about the defense.
September 16th, 2022 at 2:43 pm
Run the dang ball and we’ll be fine
September 16th, 2022 at 2:46 pm
I’ve said this over and over again – just watch the friggin game. The Saints LITERALLY commit pass interference on every single play. They just drag down the WRs on LITERALLY every play. They know the refs won’t call PI on every single play, and they’re right.
People talk about how Evans gets shut down in these games, which just isn’t true, he gets like 60 yards in PI calls in every game, and that’s way less than what should be called.
Just watch the games. There’s no big mystery here, just grab and hold Evans and whoever else is healthy that week, and it screws up the timing of everything. The Bucs, if they had any intelligence at all, would steal the Saints playbook and do the same thing this week. If they did we could have a classic 2-0 game.
September 16th, 2022 at 2:55 pm
Yep Rod. Also there’s two key pieces missing from that secondary of the Saints this year. They definitely hold and grab receivers constantly. Supposed to be an emphasis on that this year with the officials. We shall see.
September 16th, 2022 at 2:56 pm
I agree! The Saints have a good 4 man pass rush, and they hold our receivers so no one is ever really wide open.
IMHO, the way to beat them is to run the ball, often and more often.
If our running game is doing well, it will force them to stack the line so Brady can really burn them.
September 16th, 2022 at 3:05 pm
The slimy saints were beating the Bucs in the 2020 playoffs until our budding star Antoine Winfield punched the ball out of Jared Cook’s hands in the 3rd quarter. A timely 4th quarter interception by Devin White also erased any potential comeback by Brees.
It took 2 key turnovers to exercise the demon that day, and it might just take timely turnovers of America’s Turnover Machine to do it again!
September 16th, 2022 at 3:10 pm
@Rod Munch. I completely agree. They do hold a lot and disrupt the timing of the receivers. This makes Brady hold the ball longer and the pass rush gets to him. They matchup so well against us in the secondary. Like Malcom Jenkins said, Bray loves finding the mismatch, and there is no mismatch with the Saints in the secondary.
I will say the first game last year against them are offense had thee best performance. They threw for over 400 yards and Godwin couldn’t be stopped. We went up one score and the defense let Siemien run the clock and win the game. I’m sick of the team stressing no turnovers when we play the Saints, but then during the actual games we turn the ball over.
I’m gonna be totally honest. I’m absolutely terrified about this game. The offense is still trying to find its identify, and im concerned about the offensive line. There is a level of trust that a QB has to have with his OL. Brady does not have this trust. I’ve seen him do something I’ve never seen his career before. On shotgun snaps, he is extending his drop because he doesn’t trust the OL.The only person I’ve seen make that observation has been PassingThru. Brady is a robot when it comes to making precise drops. That can make throws much tougher. If a QB doesn’t trust his OL, his internal clock speeds up. I saw that play itself out during multiple games on Sunday. Stafford, Burrow, and Rodgers all looked hurried because of the pass rush.
Brady is a film junkie and has seen every type of blitz and coverage. I think he knows this Saints D and what needs to be done. The offense just can’t execute against them. No Turnovers! When we bet them in the playoffs, the offense had zero turnovers.
September 16th, 2022 at 3:13 pm
Time for turnovers. Indeed. Maybe Sunday is the day Logan Ryan announces he is a Buc if he isn’t too pissed about being cut.
September 16th, 2022 at 3:23 pm
I agree on the tight saints coverage and constant holding and grabbing of jerseys and arms. Refs don’t call it. Answer is to improve the run game and quick passes. Bucs need to concentrate on RB screens and misdirection runs and getting first downs and keep Brady upright. Why can’t we use trick plays like the saints?
September 16th, 2022 at 3:23 pm
Smash Mouth football will be the story of this game.
Your guy’s vs our guy’s.
So long as the refs are not looking to throw flags on us for Pancaking the DBs in light of all the chatter about Lenny and the gang being dirty.
September 16th, 2022 at 3:34 pm
I’m convinced Winston handed Sean Payton and Dennis Allen the Bucs playbook the day he got to New Orleans. His first year there he helped them dissect everything the Bucs do on offense and defense. The Saints know our plays and scheme better than anybody thanks to Winston having resentments towards Bucs for getting rid of him. That’s why he is Saints starting quarterback because of the inside information he gave the Saints and the success they gave had against the Bucs because of it. Dennis Allen is a head coach because of the dominance against the Bucs and Brady.
September 16th, 2022 at 3:43 pm
It’s real simple:
They can play man because their pass rush gets home. Over and over and over.
If we finally can win in the trenches, we can beat them.
And Rod is right, their DBs are holding and interfering non-stop. If Bowles is a smart coach, he’ll make sure to mention it to the refs before the game starts.
September 16th, 2022 at 3:45 pm
Personnel and schematically, the Saints are just a bad matchup for the Bucs. Hopefully this time around Leftwich can counter with better scheme.
September 16th, 2022 at 3:53 pm
Bucs are due
September 16th, 2022 at 3:59 pm
Yep, very simple…
Put a WR in motion & stack the WR’s…
That will create immediate space when corners are gonna try to figure out who their man is based on the route concept…
If they have zero pre-snap motion then they will get beat…
That’s pathetic play-calling there…
We all dreamed about this last year for several games…
September 16th, 2022 at 3:59 pm
More screens! Also some draws and counters – keep ’em off balance and use different blocking angles. Use the Aints speed and power up front against them.
September 16th, 2022 at 4:00 pm
Screamed not dreamed in my above comment…
September 16th, 2022 at 4:05 pm
We lose in the trenches to them – time to flip the script and control the ball on O and get off the field on 3rd down on D
We rarely do either against them – the TO’s made the difference the one time we won of the prior 8
September 16th, 2022 at 4:07 pm
I agree with this guy, the way we play the saints we have zero chance of winning. Great time to bet money as Bucs are predicted to win.
Rod Munch says this: I’ve said this over and over again – just watch the friggin game. The Saints LITERALLY commit pass interference on every single play. They just drag down the WRs on LITERALLY every play. They know the refs won’t call PI on every single play, and they’re right.
I agree with Rod Munch also
We literally have no chance to win unless we run the ball over and over till we wear a fricking hole open. Easilly 2/3rd of our offensive snaps need to be running the ball and an occasional playaction.

Why do you think the Bucs signed Ryan Griffin from the Saints? It’s pretty common, actually. However, with that said, Arians also lost both Saints games in 2019. It’s a matchup issue, and holding issue, the Saints are blatant about cheating knowing the NFL isn’t going to call out every penalty, and they take their chances from there.
September 16th, 2022 at 4:42 pm
OK.
So what are Bowles and Leftwich gonna do about it?
September 16th, 2022 at 4:52 pm
Joe … ‘But (if) what Hamilton is selling is that simple, then the slimy Saints would have beaten the Bucs in the playoffs in 2020.’
It actually is that simple Joe, you just left out 3 things about that playoff game. First, the Saints committed FOUR turnovers that day; the Bucs committed NONE. Second, Bucs FINALLY ran the ball down their throats (35 runs to 33 passes). Third, we controlled the latter part of the game (Saints were AHEAD 20-13 with a little over a quarter to go, but the Bucs scored 2 TDs & 1 FG on our last 3 drives AND held the Saints to nada, zip, zero, zilch on their last 3 drives.
Question is: Can we duplicate that this Sunday? Well, Falcons ran against them successfully last Sunday (38 runs to 33 passes) and burned them for 201 rushing yards. Saints’ offense floundered when the Falcons’ defense kept the pressure on, but when the Birds let off the pedal, the Saints had them for lunch.
So, can we force turnovers? Maybe. Can we run the ball down their throats? Yup, if we commit to it. Can our defense hold up for a full 60 minutes & control the latter part of the game? IF we stay healthy, yes we can. I’m with CrackWise on this one: ‘Smash Mouth football will be the story of this game’. Punch ’em in the mouth, then hit ’em again. Let’s see who’s standing at the end of the game.
September 16th, 2022 at 5:01 pm
Bucs suck show prove of da saints holding every single play there is none sore losers
September 16th, 2022 at 5:03 pm
I remember the refs had their thumb on the scales quite often in the Saints games.
September 16th, 2022 at 5:05 pm
I think most teams are scared to death to run the defenses shown in that video. Especially when you look at our WRs.
Sure the Saints run it well but Im certain theres tons of footage of Brady destroying single deep safteys.
September 16th, 2022 at 5:07 pm
Run the ball, control the clock, disrupt Jay-Miss, win the turnover battle, get Brady to hit on some big play-action passes.
September 16th, 2022 at 5:26 pm
The best way to defeat tight man coverage is with pick plays. Brady is no stranger to that MO. Bitching about the refs will get you nowhere. Evans and Jones will never get those calls against 5’9 defensive backs. Stop crying and go smash them in the mouth. Also, the Saints would have run the bucs out of the building if the sickness hadn’t prevented fans. Run the damn ball and wear out that front. In my opinion, it’s the bucs only shot.
September 16th, 2022 at 5:33 pm
Bucs should deploy more bunch sets to prevent the Saints corners from jamming the wrs, this will create space and allow Brady to get the ball out of his hand more quickly. For some reason Leftwich does not do it.

I said this see my post–doesn’t matter sasquatsch is right and it is a good game plan, remember last year the patriots had a game vs the Bills–every play was a run.
September 16th, 2022 at 6:07 pm
Turnovers will determine winners and losers. The Bucs havn’t played clean games against the Saints.
In the 6 loses between ’19-’21 besides the Saints winning the turnover battle, there is another glaring stat. The Bucs havn’t gained 100 yards rushing in any of these games.
The average amount of rushing attempts by the Bucs in these games is only 16 attempts! The average amount of yards gained was only 57 yards.
Against a physical defense like New Orleans has, you have to be able to fight fire with fire. The Saints love to bully and push around the Buc receivers and get to Brady with 4 men. I believe that Cam Jordan at 33 years old should be punished with a very aggressive game plan to run right at him with a fullback like Ko Kleft helping out Wirfs or Wells/Smith.
No matter what the Bucs need to attempt to run the ball. 40-50 passes against them hasn’t won a game.
Bucs have young guys like Goeke and Kleft that are run blockers. So is Shac Mason. Get in their faces and punch them in the mouth.
Don’t turn it over, play great defense and run the football. Tire out the Saints pass rush. Only way to play this game. Don’t make Brady win it, do it at the lines of scrimmage.
September 16th, 2022 at 7:06 pm
Ed, good analysis
September 16th, 2022 at 7:22 pm
The Saints have gotten inside the Bucs heads! We should return the favor.
We should set up a play where somebody comes across with a WICKED crackback block on Lattimore. He’s the mouth that fires them up. We should design as many plays possible early to light him up and get a whiny reaction like we did last week at Dallas.
Maybe a play where ME13 makes Lattimore available for a crushing block from Ko Kieft.
September 16th, 2022 at 7:33 pm
Coach Arians loved the deep ball or pass plays that required time with very few run plays. It’s why we had issues the first 12 games with Brady but that changed when he pushed to have the playbook changed more to his style. The game against Dallas had more run plays and looked more balanced. With a O line needing more time to gel to do pass protection but able to do run plays and no Arians then you see a different game plan. One that works if we run the ball and be physical. Also defense has to smother Winston and force turnovers.
September 16th, 2022 at 8:15 pm
New season with a new coach for the saints, we will see. I know that I am starting the Bucs D in fantasy leagues where I can.
September 16th, 2022 at 9:15 pm
every game they beat us in their pass rush was Outstanding. We must stop it Run the ball down their throats. If our Defense wells very well, I got us taking this game.
September 16th, 2022 at 9:30 pm
Check it out, really. See how many starters were missing from the Bucs last year both times they played the Saints, either before the game or injuries that occurred during the games. The list is considerable in terms of the importance to the team.
Hopefully, this year, we sustain no further injuries during the game, which would finally force the Saints to play a Bucs team at nearly full strength.
September 16th, 2022 at 10:03 pm
Lattimore is the best corner in the league for my money. Adebo is very good too. I was surprised he made it past the second round. It isn’t often that Brady is challenged by a defense. I’m pounding the under. Bucs win a donnybrook. Defense saves the day. I suspect that will be the case a lot early on.
September 16th, 2022 at 11:10 pm
Lattimore is not the best corner in the league. Denver and Baltimore used to give him fits. They could rush 4 and play coverage, and they both had great secondaries.

Louisiana is the crookedest state in the USA. The government is run by crooks. Law Enforcement is full of crooks and a large share of the people are crooks or look the other way to the corruption. That said is it any wonder that the refs are blatantly making bad or no calls in favor of the Satans. Whoops I had a Freudian slip there. Think all that was hyperbole? Do a little research. You’ll be surprised how true it is. If you want to fact check the ref angle just watch a replay of last year’s game in New Orleans. The game was full of bad calls but the most outrageous one was the roughing the passer penalty on William Gholston. The dude practically went insane after the bogus call and it took him out of the game mentally for awhile.
September 17th, 2022 at 1:34 am
The Falcons, the Falcons?, Yes! The Falcons exposed the decline in this slimy defense. Outside of Lattimore and the FS, their db room has become extremely thin. Also, their pass rush was stifled by a weak ATL o-line. Julio is about to feast and give the Aints double vision of the past.
September 17th, 2022 at 3:37 am
Zero articles about the brasilian elephant in the room.
It is not good for Brady outside of football.
September 17th, 2022 at 9:01 am
Brown was a distraction from the moment he walked in the building and they looked off for 6 games after he got there!! They were just starting to gel and then they had to force the ball to him 10 times a game to keep him happy!! … I hope he loses all his money and we see him one day flipping hamburgers!! Dude isn’t smart enough for any other job but football and a “sandwich artist!” Lol
September 17th, 2022 at 9:08 am
The saints beat the bucs every time because lattimore is one of the few corners in the NFL that can shut down Mike Evans without help … I don’t think the casual observers understand how much Mike gets covered in other games that the other team doesn’t have a lattimore… Mike usually takes 2 guys to defend him! So the saints are able to take him out the game which makes all the other receivers look a lot more mortal!! Mike Evans is the heart of this offense!! He may not get all the catches like he used to when he’s all they had but, he opens it up for all the other receivers!!
September 17th, 2022 at 10:50 am
Lattimore takes Mike out of the game? The paid off refs that let him grab, hold, punch and tackle Mike all the way down the field is why he’s having issues. In last year’s game Mike had a sure touchdown but Lattimore grabbed his hand at the hip for about 1 second and it blew the timing on the play. Lattimore is an expert at cheating. He’s turned it into an art form.
September 17th, 2022 at 10:56 am
This is exactly why we ground & pound. Just as we did last week, limit the mistakes & play good defense. Our defense is going to wreck the Saints Offense, so I’m not worried there. If Byron continues to call the game like he did last week & just take what they give us, we will be fine.
Tom has had enough games under his belt with this team to know what we have to do. A heavy dose of Ko K crushing downhill on D. Davis, while Lenny follows to punish any weak player in the secondary.
We will dismantle the Saints in NO this weekend, book it dano.
September 17th, 2022 at 12:49 pm
The saints play harder. They beat the Bucs with effort, and that’s all there is to it.
