Gronk: “I’m Staying In Shape”

Until Rob Gronkowski schedules a massive retirement party or says he’s never playing football again, Joe’s not ruling out a Gronk return to the game later this year.
Obviously, Gronk loves the spotlight. He’s a camera junkie. And what better way to generate eyeballs than to land in the NFL just in time to have every football fan talking about you at the Thanksgiving dinner table?
Gronk’s been involved in all kinds of stuff since the end of last season. After his headline-inducing Ultimate Fighting Championship studio event Saturday night, Gronk flew to play basketball in the Big 3 Celebrity charity game, which was far more serious than other exhibitions Joe has seen.
Gronk looked good. He’s certainly a brutal matchup in the post and driving to the basket.
But more important, Gronk joined the 3-Point Conversion show and was asked what’s next for him. He told the host “I’m staying in shape,” noting that he wasn’t in basketball shape but is open to any opportunity that comes his way.
Of course, Joe would welcome a Gronk return to the Bucs. Hopefully he won’t be needed. And don’t think the Bucs can’t afford him under the salary cap, “the answer’s always yes.”

Brinks retired. I don’t think he comes back. He’s the one former Buc of the bunch from last year that’s not currently here, that I would welcome back. JPP, Bye. Suh, bye. AB, bye. Jensen, bye. Even if Otton and Kieft have amazing rookie years, Brate plays well and Rudolph catches 6TD’s and 500 yards I still would love the Bucs to get Gronk at some point this season. Gronk is the best TE of all time and would make the Bucs better.

Gronk is WWE at heart…a true showman. I’m all for his potential triumphant return but nothing is guaranteed including the Bucs being in the hunt for a SB late in the season.

He did have 2 “tuddies” in the SB win and a big catch setting up a 3rd for Lenny. He’s as clutch as they come. How could the Bucs say no?!

Gronk enjoying retirement. He does not seem like a guy who wants to play football again.
That hit last year against The Rams, and painful recovery, is something he doesn’t want to go through again.

I certainly would not be against it, but I’m getting kind of sick of the Rudolph hate. Has the guy even played 20 snaps for us yet? Those who said he looked slow don’t know his game. He was never fast. He just uses his big body to block out defenders and make catches. He is more athletic than he looks. Read his wikipedia page. He was a terrific center in high school. Still among the all-time leaders in points and rebounds. Yes, he is another one of those guys who uses basketball skills and translates it to football.

With the offensive line injuries, Brady needs to ratch up the pressure on Gronk to come back. Gronk is probably the best blocking TE in the game, and it just so happens that Brady likes good blocking.
Whatever Gronk wants, Gronk gets, figure it out.
