“I Don’t Think We’ve Covered Him Yet”
July 29th, 2022Todd Bowles was pointing fingers today.
With Day 3 of training cap in the books, Bowles had watched two days worth of practice film and had just finished eyeballing Friday’s practice.
The head coach shared love for his receivers’ work, and he picked a winner.
“Receivers are doing a good job. [Russell] Gage has really been the one to stand out,” Bowles said. “I don’t think we’ve covered him yet. But he’s been doing a good job the past couple of days. Again, we’re out of pads. But he’s a guy that flashes and shows quickness and fluidity and everything else that I’ve seen the past two days.”
The fun thing about Gage is that he may not draw a double team all season long, given all the Bucs’ big-time weapons in the passing game. That bodes very well for a quick dude like Gage who is difficult to cover.

Dare I say Godwin like player . We all know Evans goes up and gets the long ball like a mofo but the 2 slot guys are some Dawgs too . The route tree and short area quickness & explosive in and out of breaks they excel at and let’s f’n go

Sounds like he may just be a good replacement for AB……(not comparing them)…..simply the production…..
So….with a 5 WR set…….you’d have to have 10 defensive backs to double them all….leaving a pass rush of 1 player……

If we can keep our offense healthy, I don’t see us being stopped. We won’t even need a punter. 🤣

^^^that way if Brady doesn’t find an open receiver ….he can just run it “UP THE GUT”!!

A great option for the ninja surgeon Tom Brady, he is patient and sets up the defense and then wham!
So many great options for the offense to take care of specific weakness in LB and DB areas. I am old school and know what a superior running game can do to a defense and the course of the game when you have a lead

TBBF … You seem to have this infatuation with a 5 WR set. Which means that we’re going empty backfield with no TEs or RBs to help block for TB12. Seems to me that the opposing Dc would be chomping at the bit to just release the hounds and whatever happens, happens. The one player we can’t afford to lose this year is Tom Brady.

@ lol Exactly. If your’e running an empty protection, you damn well better have answers because the D will tee off, and with the interior OL in question,, those A Gaps will be ripe for the pickings

Sasquatch: Did Brian Stelter tell you the Bucs won’t need a punter?

I am all for lots of three-receiver sets.
You win passing the ball in this league. Especially our team.

Hi Joe in Michigan!
No, but Tucker told me that you like to eat his farts! Is that true?

Do we have a true deep threat?
July 29th, 2022 at 10:57 pm
JBM, yes. Evans, Godwin, Miller, Jones, Gage, Grayson and Perriman.

Todd knows how to leave guys wide open. Just rewatched the Todd Bowles Bowl against the Rams. Really excited about him being the head coach.
Let’s see how long before BA is elevated to a more significant consultant.

We have a few really fast ones

Gage has now been more critical for Tom after the injury of Jensen. Tom would throw the ball quickly this year.

No pads, let’s relax. No coach in his or her right mind would leave TB12 unprotected if that coach wants to keep their job.

Made me laugh out loud. Was thinking the same thing reading the question whether we have a “true deep threat”.

I really liked the Gage signing, with AB gone and Godwin’s return to effectiveness in question, the Bucs really needed a slot receiver. Gage is great as he’s very effective in the slot and can be used on the outside as well. That means versatility and the ability to put him in motion prior to the snap.
His twin challenges: 1. Ascending from a quality WR3 to WR2 for the first four or so games (might be mitigated by Julio, we’ll see). 2. Consistently handling the press. Teams couldn’t mess with Godwin and Evans, they’re too strong.

Our punter runs a 4.5 and looks like a RB.

Hey sasquach, I just saved your life, I just killed a sh*t eating dog! Keep your sick remarks for your wonderful team, would you please? Better yet, just go away!

Cooper Kupp, Todd.

Being a DC versus the Bucs would suck.
July 30th, 2022 at 10:45 pm
Being Todd Bowles against teams with Top 10 QBs and their starting OTs also would suck. Does suck.
