Mike Evans Believes Rob Gronkowski Is “Done” Playing Football
July 6th, 2022Bucs star wide receiver Mike Evans dearly wants foot-rubbing tight end Rob Gronkowski to return.
However, Evans doesn’t believe that will happen. In a sitdown Evans granted Ari Alexander of KPRC-TV in Houston, he said he fears Gronk is done playing football.
That doesn’t mean Evans isn’t wishing Gronk will have a change of heart.
“It hurts to lose Gronk,” Evans began. “We’re going to have to make up for it. … I have to play better. The running backs have to play better. Collectively we are going to have to play better.”
But Gronk being Gronk means Evans knows there’s a chance Gronk parachutes back into One Buc Palace.
“I hope he comes back!” Evans said. “With Tom [Brady] and Gronk, you never know. I wouldn’t be mad if he came back. I’d be really excited if he came back.
“I feel he is done.”
Evans said Gronk plays and practices so hard and with so much effort that his body takes a tremendous beating. Evans said he’s seen what Gronk’s body looks like after a game and it isn’t pretty. So Evans doesn’t blame Gronk if he really does follow through on his retirement-maybe. “I understand why.”
Joe hopes this is all a choreographed stunt by Gronk’s agent oily Drew Rosenhaus, just to squeeze a few more silver dollars from Team Glazer’s vault.
Mike Evans is going to miss playing with @RobGronkowski, who he calls the best TE ever.
Evans also thinks Gronk is done for good.

As long as Evans keeps showing up for work we will have a fighting chance. He packs a lunch every Sunday and never disappoints. He is the consimate pro and I was glad to hear DeSean Jackson call him the 2nd best wide receiver in the NFL. The problem is that he makes it look so easy that people don’t realize that they are witnessing greatness. I mean hell, he even made Johnny Manziel look good enough to win the Heisman. That hasn’t aged real well

Buccos speaks the truth.

Gronk would still be playing if it wasn’t for that cheap shot he took that broke his ribs and punctured his lung by Terrell Lewis that Rams LB in week 3.

Manziel was talented, undersized with personal problems
Evans deserves every praise coming his way, but I always see that commentary knocking Manziel. Evans was amazing for him, but you don’t win a heisman unless you’re talented. Let’s give that a rest.

ME13 … ‘Evans said he’s seen what Gronk’s body looks like after a game and it isn’t pretty.’
Coming from Mike Evans, who often takes a pretty good beating himself, THAT’S SCARY.

Had Gronk not taken that shot to the ribs last year this wouldn’t be an issue…That was a brutal hit and def had him thinking twice about putting his body through that again. Can’t blame him

Please stop making excuses for Johnny Manziel. He thought football was just a way to meet women and get drunk. Bad example of a football player or for anyone else. GOBUCS!

Gronk-a-day continues Everybody has an opinion on whether Gronk will come back or not……and we’re going to hear them all. HOORAY!!!

Every play with Gronk is a car crash. His running style after the catch could be discribed like watching a demolition derby. I agree with Mike, how many more crashes can he survive?

Rams ended Gronk just like they ended our SB chances last year. Hate them worse that the Saints. Both those teams are full of dirty b@stards.

asdf Says:
That shot reminded me of “bountygate” and I was seeing red for half the season over it. But after watching it on replay a gazillion times and hearing not a peep from ANYONE about the hit being unclean, I can’t call it a ‘cheap shot’. Gronk has embarrassed hundreds of defensive players over his career by running through tackles or dragging players for ten or more players. Rules prohibit hitting low and there’s never been a player to defy physics by launching high enough to knock that rumbling man-beast off his feet. That left Gronk’s vulnerable midpoint wide open to an angled side shot. Knowing it was the man-beast, that DB KNEW that he had to bring it if he stood a chance. And he did.
Now, Brady and Gronk were both well aware that Gronk could not take another debilitating injury considering his history. Brady tried his best to avoid placing Gronk in a bad spot and Gronk has had his head on a swivel in 2020 and until last year’s hit. Sadly, that human missile likely did more than break ribs and puncture Gronk’s lung. It’s almost certain that it re-injured one of his many back injuries/surgeries. Anyone with a bad back or degenerative disc disease knows that it’s a struggle to get through the day. Jeez, up until just writing this I would have bet the farm that Gronk would’ve been back. Then again, wouldn’t Gronk have known all this at the end of the season and announce his retirement then? The timing here just doesn’t add up.

Would luv to have Gronk Back. But I don’t think so. He’s had enough. To me, its great to see players walk off the field into the sunset on their own power. If Fans only knew the pain money cannot treat or cover.
