Tom Brady’s Picks
July 5th, 2022Will Tom Brady’s run of good luck with interceptions continue as a 45-year old quarterback? It’s going to be close if you believe the gamblers.
The sharps in Las Vegas have set interception season-totals for this season, and when it comes to the Bucs’ quarterback, handicappers believe the over/under on Brady’s total season interceptions is 12.5.
There are a few things to consider:
Since 2010, Brady has not thrown more than 12 picks in a season. That’s a helluva streak considering he’s in his mid-40s. It helps to have some of the best receivers in the game, however.
And right there is maybe the tipping point for Brady and his season interception total. There’s no more furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing, V-card-forging, quitting Antonio Brown. Perhaps, no more foot-rubbing Rob Gronkowski. And who knows how many games Chris Godwin will miss, not to mention if he will be the same ballplayer as he was before his knee surgery.
And even Brady admitted to Joe that Russell Gage has a lot of work to do in order for him and Brady to be on the same page. Gage missed all of minicamp with a mysterious injury.
If Brady is going to exceed 12 picks in a season, this might be the season to lay cash on that happening. Of course, what Bucs fan in his right mind wants to see Brady throw more picks?

I don’t see the over on this because I believe the Bucs offense will look very different this year. They are built to run the football and use play action pass. Not to say Brady won’t throw for over 4k and 40 TD’s. I just believe the way he gets there will be a lot different than the past two seasons.

Well, it’s not like its Brady making errant, boneheaded passes, but more of the sheer volume in which he throws the ball in this offense. We led the league in drops as well, while some may be worse in certain situations than in others, it’s not like our WRs were incompetent, it’s up partially because our offense literally passed the ball twice as much as we ran it. Don’t really see that changing moving forward

To answer your question; OneilBuc wants to see Brady throw more picks.

Captain Oblivious beat me to it! lol

My money would always be on Brady…….we have a great receiver corps….and I expect us to run and our backs to catch a bunch of passes this year…..
Let;s say the Biscuit without the Risk-it

45+ tuddies and 13 picks? I’d take it.
I’d bet the under. With a solid OL, more ground ‘n pound, and beefed RB receiving corp, I don’t see Brady making a lot of risky throws.

“Luck” has nothing to do with it so I stopped reading.

Bet the over with the yards.
Bucs will be in a lot of shoot outs this year with Bowles and this defense facing Stafford, Prescott, Burrow, Jackson, Murray, Mahomes, and Rodgers

The more you throw the more chances of a pick. Last year picks bounced off Evan’s, Lenny, Godwin, Darden and most likely Johnson. Take the over, how long did it take for Evan’s and Brady take to get on the same page?

Brady had the most pass attempts last year. He threw the ball over 700 times! I say 12 picks aren’t so bad compared to other QBs who had more picks with less pass attempts. Communication will be important this season with the new receivers. Evans and Godwin finally got on the same page with Brady last year. There’s no justification for a QB of Brady’s age to be throwing the ball that often. I hope we can limit his attempts.
Bowles made the statement about making Tom’s job easier and I think he was referring to him passing less often. I wonder if Steve is the author of this article. I’m sure every single throw by Brady will be scrutinized more than the Zapruder film. It’s like Brady is not allowed to have a bad throw. He’s the most scrutinized QB in the league. People are desperately waiting for his downfall. Of course Brady can have a bad day, bad throws, sling 10 picks. He’s scritinized so much because of the standard he’s set.–Joe
So much has been made about Brady and his new receivers. How about we put some pressure on the shoulders of Leftwich. I like Leftwich, but he’s not really good at scheming guys open. He’s fine when we have the talent at WR who could beat their man one on one. LaFluer, McVay, and Shahanan are good examples of play callers who can scheme lesser talent open. Let’s not put it on Tom to make the perfect throw every time.

Listnfrmafar . To you every bad throw Brady has thrown it wasn’t his fault to you lol 😆 😂 . It’s all ways the receivers or the coaches fault if you tell it lol 😆 !!!

And it was never Winston’s fault when you repeatedly blew hot air Oneil.

I believe Tom Brady will still be good. I do not believe he will throw more picks, but I only think his passing numbers will go down. Our tight end room is not what is was last year, and our wide receivers will be out for a while, so if Bowles is smart, we will run the ball more. This should lead to decreased numbers for Brady, but I don’t think he crosses 12 picks

If Brady throws 700+ times again with this group of recievers, I’ll take the over. Most of Brady’s picks are either the recievers fault, or frustration throws. I just don’t think they have the horses to throw at the rate they did last year. Gronk is gone. So is AB, and we don’t know what kind of contribution Godwin will give. Teams are going to shade Evans. Gage needs to have a big year. I’d also love to see more running, play action, and longer scoring drives.

Oneilbucyall, I am not saying ALL his picks are the fault of others but go back and watch the games there were multiple picks off receivers hands.

It’s Brady’s 3 rd year in this system he’s going to be even better unless father time has caught him. Brady is a master at spreading the ball around. No Gronk will mean he will compensate with others, he will have this offense humming like a well oiled machine.

October 23, 1988. Where were you then? I was sweltering in the Ridgecrest, CA desert working real hard at NWC, China Lake. And, Vinny Testaverde (remember him?) was working real hard too for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yes, poor Vinny was working much too hard. Was he a rookie? I can’t remember, my brain is just old geezer mush. But, in any case, Vinny threw 6 interceptions that day against the Vikings. Sheesh!! 6 in one game! I hope Brady never gets that bad in his soon arriving geezerhood.

Proudbucsfan, his third year in the system, with the weakest group of pass catchers in those three years. I think Brady will be fine, but the eye popping numbers he put up last year probably won’t happen. They didn’t trade for Mason and draft a mauler at LG to throw 700 times.

I guess he realized if you can’t be MVP with his last years numbers, what’s the point they’re just going to award to another over paid choke artist QB. Might as well run the ball.
