Report: Ryan Jensen Passing On Bengals Was Key Move To Retaining Tom Brady
June 3rd, 2022A supremely plugged-in insider said today he’s quite sure of a couple things when it comes to Tom Brady.
Joe’s refererring to NBC Sports super insider Peter King. He joined Pro Football Talk today and explained he’s confident that center Ryan Jensen was ready to go to the Cincinnati Bengals when Brady called him. The gist from King was no Jensen return, then no Brady.
King also didn’t discount the likelihood that Brady would play somewhere in 2023, a year for which he doesn’t have a Bucs contract and reports say he cannot be franchised.
Per King, a key broadcasting insider is telling him Brady “owes it to his future” to take three hours every week this season to watch various announcing crews, all while taking detailed notes in order to prepare for his future FOX gig calling games. And King agreed wholeheartedly.
Joe heard that and thought it was absolutely moronic.
When is all-in Tom Brady going to have time to devote three hours a week to something other than football, family, and his business interests? And why would Brady take 50-plus hours during the season when he can do that over two weeks in late February or March?
Joe is not writing off Brady playing for the Bucs in 2023. It’s a long shot, but certainly possible if the Bucs can keep winning — and giving Brady what he wants.

It makes no sense fr a 46 y.o. QB, regardless of how great he is, to go to another team for just one year.

Peter King is a bleeding V. He’s turned to a whiney pee baby that thinks articles on PFT is a place to extol his virtues and anyone that doesn’t agree is an affront to his sensibilities. I guess it IS true, that the more fat you are, the more your body converts Testosterone in to estrogen..

Is it September yet?

SB….we have to wait for Gronk first.

Morons are as morons are.

Don’t know who needs the season to start more – the players or the Peter Kings who throw so much sh** on the walls in hopes something sticks. So much bad info

To me, Mike Florio and Peter King have opinions that are no longer worth my time to listen to.

I took a closer look at Brady’s deal. He has 4 void years. Approximately 10.7 million prorated in ’23 ’24 ’25. It drops to 2.7 million in ’26. If his contact voids in 2022 as planned, the bucs are looking at around 35 million in a dead cap hit in 2023. The only way to avoid that is with a new deal, before the void kicks in. Brady’s hit this year is very team friendly, something like 11 million. If he goes to a new team, or retires, he leaves behind a bag of poop the bucs will be forced to carry. I think much depends on how this season goes and ends. If they win again, in all likelihood he walks away.
instead of the bucs holding all the cards, like they did this off-season. Brady holds them for the next. As for Peter King, he’s a self important blowhard know-it-all who loves the sound of his own voice. He’s said some stupid things over the years, this may take the cake as the dumbest. Brady wouldn’t do that to his teammates. He wouldn’t do that to himself. Peter King has now firmly placed his feet into the realm of fake news click bait.

The chicken or the egg????
You have both or neither.

I agree with most here, including Joe. Brady has all the time in the world whenever he wants after football season and during breaks to study announcers. To think that he would do so during the season is ludicrous at best. I also agree that it would be idiotic for him to go to some new team after this year when he’ll be closer to 50 than 40. Learning a new offense and new teammates for the first time. Including the playbook. With seriously be shocked if that happened.
June 3rd, 2022 at 1:10 pm
Steven, let’s be clear. If Brady goes to another team, his offense goes with him. I think it’s unlikely he plays for another team, but if he does, everyone else will need to learn his offense.

Jensen said himself that he had decided to come back to the Bucs before Brady called him. Story deflated…. Pfffffftt.

Good catch sasquatch.

Peter King…..King of Peters…..

Peter King and Mike Florio. How many times have these 25ers been sitting around slamming shots while they chase it with beers simultaneously lamenting the fact that every big news blast they try to predict and claim rarely pan out. Oh the 25ers term certainly wasn’t borne out of their respective ages. That’s the term I give them because it represents how often the vomit that comes from their mouths is true. I’ll lock arms with Ian Rappoport who by the way disputed any and all of the Brady nonsense.
June 3rd, 2022 at 2:40 pm
The only thing worse than a Gronk-a-day story is a Brady in 23 story…..
June 3rd, 2022 at 2:57 pm
Peter King is definitely a legend in his own mind. I think Joe’s 100 word face stuffing moniker for King would have been appropriate here.
June 3rd, 2022 at 3:21 pm
I used to like and read Florio. I’ve never been a fan of King and if the Joes didn’t post things from them I’d never read it. Florio had gotten far too holier than thou and political for me to enjoy his writing anymore. If Brady comes back in 2023 that would be awesome, but I’m lookng forward to seeing what Trask and a 2023 rookie can do too. Regardless, our organization is in a great place and I can’t wait for football to start.
June 3rd, 2022 at 3:27 pm
We win the superbowl why would he leave.
June 3rd, 2022 at 5:04 pm
I wouldn’t know what Peter King had to say if it wasn’t for Joe.
June 3rd, 2022 at 5:39 pm
Me too Zilla. I used to enjoy Florio. He came across authentic but it feels like he’s gone extreme the other way with sensationalism. I just want football facts and player analysis. Maybe some player news that is real. It’s not that hard. He sold out because the sensationalism sells. Make that money but don’t let that money make you.
June 3rd, 2022 at 6:34 pm
The King & Florio comments are all spot on. Gofortheface30, I owe you a big storm beer, priceless take my friend!
June 3rd, 2022 at 8:04 pm
It was Chris Collinsworth. He’s been public about saying Brady needs to do something like that. And he’s wrong. You don’t do your job before you’re paid to do your job. Bad business.
June 3rd, 2022 at 8:07 pm
Mort, I prefer BAs description. Bad Bidness
June 4th, 2022 at 12:53 am
yeah the chances of tommy b uprooting his entire life and starting anew in south florida because of a young man named tyreek hill, is insane…
he would never change his whole life as he currently knows it because of a football player named tyreek hill
June 4th, 2022 at 12:55 am
at this point i think chris sims is even starting to look at florio very sideways
June 4th, 2022 at 5:46 am
They need Brady to study 3 hours a week because otherwise he might make their jobs look easy.
June 4th, 2022 at 11:20 am
As usual agree with Cobra. Brady is done after this year and if not why would he uproot his entire routine…a guy who loves routine..to go to another team for just one year? IF Brady plays he’ll stay in his comfort zone.
June 5th, 2022 at 1:12 am
3 hours a week to a job that may be 1-3 years away?!? LoL nope.
