9 Of 10 Spring (OTA) Practices In The Books
June 2nd, 2022It was another day of work today on the fields of One Buc Palace, but this one, like yesterday’s, wasn’t viewed by many outsiders.
Joe likes to remind fans that media is only permitted to watch a small percentage of spring practices under the regime of Todd Bowles, and most past Bucs head coaches. So anyone telling you with authority what has happened there throughout underwear football is really sharing 30 percent of the story at most.
And that’s just too small a sample to make a sound call on anything.
There are 10 OTA (offseason training activity) sessions scheduled. Today was No. 9 and tomorrow wraps it up before next week’s mandatory, three-day minicamp, which is open completely to media.
Joe looked at the photo gallery of Wednesday and Thursday practices shared on the Bucs’ official website. And it seems like a hearty handful of big names skipped the those voluntary workouts (or the team photographer wasn’t focused on the players fans most want to see).
One thing Joe gleaned was Warren Sapp not only coached defensive lineman on Tuesday, he also was on the field today and yesterday. That’s rather significant. It wasn’t just a cameo for Sapp.
Joe is curious to see whether Sapp shows up in tomorrow’s photos. That session also is closed to media.
Also, Joe was impressed by how rocked up newcomer safety Keanu Neal appears. His goal is to replace bonecrushing Super Bowl safety Jordan Whitehead, and Neal certainly looks the part.
The glorious preseason opener is only 72 days away.

Maybe Sapp will be hired on full time?

Keano Neal is a 100% unadulterated thumping stud.

Would be great for the team to have Warren Sapp as a Dline coach . Definitely can’t hurt. The guy had more moves and techniques than any DT I’ve ever seen play , and that includes Aaron Donald. Donald is just so strong he over powers his opponents. Sapp is way smaller and just had the gift of greatness and GREAT COACHES like Rod Marineli and the great Monte Kiffin . Go Bucs

Bring it on. Bowles needs to watch the final 40 seconds of the Todd Bowl against the Rams a few hundred more times, then a few hundred more, then look at himself in the mirror and ask “is blitzing the best QB in the game against the blitz a great idea with the clock with ding down?
You Arians haters – congrats. Your wish has been granted.
Jets 2014-2018. Yay.
C’mon Todd – show us you can do it.

Godwin’s already running 19mph. So much for all the negative Nancy’s who said it would be mid season bf he returns.

I remember being at a game a few years ago between the Bucs and Falcons and seeing this one Falcons defender just destroying people. He was the best player on the field and it was Keanu Neal. I was very disappointed that Whitehead got away but am now looking forward to this new look Bucs defense. LFG!!

DJ 82 Donald May be strong but like Sapp his hands , body control and 180 degree feet are ant art …… Sapp was a Stud and so is Donald and their Hands and slippery strength balance , slight angles and leverage are just so much better than everyone else …….. But But But it is majority technique with there super human strength being the icing on the hash mark …….. 80 percent technique but they both are Super Strong !!

Goatfarmer can you tell us how confident in Bowles you are?Ha!
I hope Bowles isn’t a detriment winning a lot of games.
I’m a little worried too!
