Tom Brady Has Been Good To Mike Evans

For the handful of weeks before Tom Brady had his rapture in March, Mike Evans was not a happy guy. During the 40 days Brady was retired, Evans spoke on the record about Brady a few times and it was quite clear Evans was depressed about the situation.

Understandable. Because no receiver has enjoyed the benefits of Brady throwing to him than Evans the past two seasons.

Since Brady showed up at One Buc Palace, Evans has been an absolute touchdown-maker. Per Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports, no other receiver has had 12-or more touchdowns each of the past two years.

Evans has caught 13 and 14 touchdowns, respectively, the past two years.

And of course — what’s new? — Evans had 1,000 yards receiving each of the past two seasons as well. Clockwork, this Evans.

If Evans again matches his output each of the past two seasons, 1,000+ receiving yards, 12+ touchdowns, Joe doesn’t know how folks could argue Evans isn’t worthy of the Hall of Fame. Evans has been a consistent, dominant receiver all of his career. And he’s even more of a monster with The Greatest throwing him the ball.

If you don’t like Mike I’ll drag you behind my bike.
As fun as that sounds I’d probably have to ride all the way to the pooperdome to find someone deserving.
Atlanta and Charlotte aren’t nearly as filth as NO

No question Brady and Evans have been for each other. Brady’s ball placement makes Mike’s job a lot easier than having to hunt for some of Jameis’s inaccurate throws deep. Even so its taken extra effort to get Mike his thousand yard for several years. But after the Rams game especially, I thought DS 76 technique
against speed rushers needs improvement to buy time for Brady to capitalize
on all his weapons. IMO, our O line coaches need to work with Donavan to attack these rushers with his bulk and strength closer to the line of scrimmage before
they use their speed and agility to get around him.

D Smith is actually pretty damn good.

  4. Buc92’ Says:

The day mike retires will be a sad day. Tears of joy for sure

    GoBucs!

  5. WiscoJoe Says:

Love me some Mike Evans. One of my favorites because he’s been thru the struggles of this franchise with us. Definitely the most underrated receiver in the NFL.

    Bucsfan4ever,
    another opinion from PFF:
Miller just keeps getting better with each passing week. He pressured Brady 10 times, a season-high for the Rams pass rusher, and also had a key strip-sack in the win. He made three stops and was constantly around the quarterback, dominating his matchup with Donovan Smith.
He can still get better, IMO.

  7. Trey Long Says:

Love Mike Evans as a player and a teammate. Great guy on and off the field. My biggest concern is secondary coaching. Last year pass D was bottom 3rd. That’s a real problem in the playoffs

  8. Dooley Says:

Evans is creeping up on 10K career receiving yards & is 25 TDs away from being in the 100 TD reception club w/Rice, Moss, Harrison, Carter, Tim Brown, Owens and a few other WR legends. Brady has been good for Evans, but Evans has been just as great for this franchise.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Mike Evans…one of the best Bucs of all time.

Mike Evans has been good to Tom Brady!

  11. Razor Ramone Says:

For Brady’s final installment of Man in the Arena I was hoping one of the featured speakers was gonna be ME13. To get his perspective and personal story of coming thru the dark and into the light with the GOAT would have been compelling. A dynamic duo that really compliment each other. Mike is a Buccaneer man.

  12. Wade Landry Says:

Congrats to Mike and family on new addition. M.E. and C.G.are why T.D.came here

  13. Listnfrmafar Says:

Thomas, I don’t know about that. It took a while for Evan’s and Brady to get on the same page. Evan’s had a certain style that worked for him, that being said they have adjusted and are now one of the most feared tandems in the league.

  14. An Erection for Sacks Says:

“Understandable. Because no receiver has enjoyed the benefits of Brady throwing to him (sic) than Evans the past two seasons.”

    *more*

  15. PSL Bob Says:

Not only is Evans a great receiver, he’s the kind of person you cheer for in life. A selfless good person. Love you Mike!

  16. Buddylove Says:

Mike is the reason Johnny Manzel was even drafted. I hate it that he seems to lack respect when so many other receivers are put on a pedestal. I mean OBJ? Really? Schrager has him listed as the most underappreciated receiver in the NFL. How many different QB’s has Evans caught passes from in his time here? Just a great worker at his craft & at his life. He and his family are very unselfish. Thanks Mike.

  17. Bucs Win Says:

ME 13 is definitely a HOF’er. He is probably the most underrated player of all time.

  18. David Says:

    Love the video LOL.
“Josh, don’t worry, someone will leave you too”
    LOL

  19. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

I think Mike’s going to put up monster numbers this year. The last 6 weeks of the season with CG14 down and AB missing his big boy pants, ME13 developed chemistry with Brady. Brady is turning him into a route receiver rather than a jump ball receiver, which is making him so much better. Who couldn’t love both TB12 and ME13? They’re both team 1st players. So thankful they’re here in Tampa!! Go Bucs!!!

  20. Goatfarmer Says:

Where’s the morons who said we should trade Mike, that he’s a plodder and lousy at running routes?

Hopefully those rejects have had cerebral cortex augmentation by now.

  21. Listnfrmafar Says:

Goatpounder@ you can still be a great receiver and a not so good route runner. Megatron, Julio, Evans, Bryant & Owen’s mastered using their size, Ward, Rice, Welker, Brown are great route runners.

  22. TampabayDJ82 Says:

Bob in Valrico – Your talking about the game that Tristan Wirfs was out ?? How is that Smith’s fault ? They overloaded Smith because BUCS had an extra lineman on the right side for most of the game !! Get your facts right before making statements like that. Smith has become one of the best LT in the NFL. If he wasn’t then do you think he would still be in there to protect Brady’s blind side ??? Go Bucs
