Logan Hall: I Want To Live Up To Jason Pierre-Paul’s Number

May 13th, 2022

Today was the first practice for the Buccaneers’ top rookie, second-round pick defensive lineman Logan Hall, the No. 33 overall pick in the draft.

No pads and no hitting allowed in rookie minicamp, which for the Bucs is a two-day affair. So judging a versatile beast like Hall, who stands 6-6, 283 pounds, is almost a worthless effort. But Hall liked the whole vibe and felt good about his inaugural action on the fields of One Buc Palace.

“It was amazing. It feels good being home out here in Tampa. Yeah, a good solid day’s work with the team,” Hall said.

It was quickly pointed out to Hall by a reporter that he’s wearing No. 90, the number of Jason Pierre-Paul, a Bucs Super Bowl hero who was a beastly Bucs edge rusher from 2018-2020 until a bad shoulder slowed him down considerably last year.

Hall, a very humble young man, recognized JPP and understands what the number on his jersey represents.

“Big shoes to fill, right? I’d love to, you know, live up to that standard and really perform wearing his number. It’s an honor,” Hall said.

Hall went on to say he’s working on being more fluid with his pass rush and he expects plenty of coaching critique to come his way.

Well I guess JPP not joining the Bucs is official?

    Suh.

No. Joe was told by a Bucs spokesman today that any number worn by a rookie doesn’t mean that will be his number in July. There were numbers in the 90s available (including Suh and Steve McLendon) for Logan to pick and Logan chose 90 but 90 is not locked in if JPP returns.

But yeah, it doesn’t look good for JPP. (And the Bucs spokesperson who told Joe the above info knows exactly how it looks.)

    RUMORS:
    Suh signing with the Browns
    JPP signing with Dallas

  5. Dewey Selmon Says:

Thank you for the clarification on the TC numbers. Hall’s size sounds like a Will Gholston clone. I think Suh waits until just before camp to sign. If another team has an injury and can pay more he might just not return.

Well this certainly shall be an interesting year for our front seven… I’m expecting shootouts/ball/clock control a lot this year. I certainly don’t have the same confidence that the front office has. Hope I’m wrong.

    Rumors

Brady & Gronk to the Dolphins

  8. D-Rok Says:

Thanks Joe for the info about numbers worn now vs numbers worn during season. At first I thought Hall wearing JPP’s number was a sure sign JPP wouldn’t be signed, but now, we still have (slim) hope. I would love to have back a healthy JPP. At the least, he can instill his fire/drive to Hall, who projects to be a good player.

  9. Hodad Says:

The writing isn’t on the wall for JPP, it’s on Hall’s jersey! Remember that plane flight JPP was on where he kissed Tampa goodbye? The Bucs did the right thing early in FA, they told JPP his services would no longer be needed. He’s already been long gone. Suh’s still in the terminal, but so far his plane’s been cancelled too.

  10. D-Rok Says:

You may be right, Hodad. You may be right.

  11. Bucsfan4ever Says:

It sure looks like hodad’s right
We need to be younger on that line.
There’s still lots of time to sign another veteran.

    Rumors:
I slept with Scarlett Johansen AND my wife last night.

  13. David Says:

SB… oh crap!! If that wasn’t Scarlett Johansson then who the hell was in my bed?!?!

  14. Cleanhouse Says:

WTF is wrong w this team? Doing JPP wrong and disrespecting Suh. They deserve to lose every game if this disrespect stands

  15. Biff Barker Says:

Cleanhouse, it’s not disrespect as I see it. It’s money.

JPP soaked good us last year. He contributed nothing. JPP has squat left due to injuries. The Bucs played him while hurt not planning on his return. Now he’s expecting another rock star paycheck.

Suh, an iron man player, has less left due to his age. He’s a price/value casualty.

Why either have not signed elsewhere is quietly telling an obvious story.

  16. Ash Says:

Think he said he is at 290 right now

  17. Brandon Says:

Just as long as he’s better than Gaines Adams.
