Buccaneers Will Have An Amazon Prime Game
May 4th, 2022If you’ve got a Smart TV, a working remote, and $9.00 to spend, you can breathe easy.
As many NFL fans know, Amazon dropped billions on the NFL for the right to air Thursday Night Football on its streaming service, Amazon Prime. And per ProFootballTalk.com, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the plan is to have every playoff team from last season featured.
(If you just returned from a six-month trip to North Korea, the Bucs were in the playoffs last season).
Amazon has 15 games on the 2022 schedule, and it seems the NFL won’t be allowing a local affiliate to carry those games, as was done when Thursday games were on NFL Network.
So that means Bucs fans will have to access a stream of the Bucs’ Thursday night game to see it if they’re not in the seats.
“I really believe that Amazon Prime’s going to change the way people watch football,” Goodell said, per the ProFootballTalk transcription. “I don’t believe we’re going to just take a television broadcast and put it on a different platform. I believe that the platform, a digital platform, and Amazon’s platform is going to allow us to do things that we’ve only dreamed about to date. . . . We really focus on, how do we reach more fans? And I think this relationship and our Thursday night platform is going to be key to that. I believe we’ll be able to reach fans where they are, the way they want to engage, and also use more innovation to be able to engage them longer and different than we have today. We’re really excited by that. We think that’s really the future of our relationship with our fans, and we’ll have a deeper relationship with them because of it.”
Joe hopes the Bucs get a home game on Thursday night. They hit the road the last two seasons for their midweek games — to Chicago in 2020 and Philadelphia last year.
As for a Smart TV, they start at about $120 at Walmart. Joe’s not sure one can even find a modern TV that isn’t “smart.”

Translation: “They paid us the most money”

I have read on multiple websites that local markets will still air the games. Not sure if they are correct but that’s what’s been reported 🤷

So true!
Lol

I’m not buying Goodell and I’m not buying Amazon prime

Such criminals running these sports leagues. Guy makes 40 million a year and tries to sell us that by making it harder to find a game on TV it opens up access to fans. Now we have yet another outlet which requires us to pay them. Remember this when you are told “who cares how much the players make.” I am paying through the nose for the NFL package which was promised as having ability to see EVERY game. Until it wasn’t.
NFL will not leave a penny on the ground but will preach that they care about the fans. Right. $40 to park your car, hundreds for a couple of tickets, and of course the inflated cost of food and drinks.
At least admit it Roger, it’s all about the money. Stop with the PR nonsense that you care about the fans.

@alvafan – Then I guess you aren’t watching the game
May 4th, 2022 at 5:17 pm
I don’t pay cable and I will not pay to watch a game on my laptop. Screw the NFL and Goodell. Put it over the air or I don’t need to see it.
May 4th, 2022 at 5:30 pm
If you don’t have Amazon prime by now, there’s a solid chance you live in mom’s basement, and she won’t buy it. If you live outside the market and don’t have Sunday ticket, WTF do you expect? The NFL has always had blackout rules
May 4th, 2022 at 5:32 pm
Maybe teams will be able to pay for their own stadiums now.
Tampa is going to need a new one to keep up with the Jones
🤓
May 4th, 2022 at 5:38 pm
As long as Sunday ticket still has it, not the end of the world.
No different than the first year (maybe two I cannot remember) of Thursday when you couldn’t see it without the NFL Network on Direct TV.
May 4th, 2022 at 5:50 pm
On the other hand GOB some people may be well off and don’t WASTE their money. That kind sh!t is like tossing it out in the street. Just like buying new cars every year to keep up with the Jones. First thing I ever learned. Never listen to a salesman.

#8, they fixed that in short order, after the Patriots regular season undefeated season was on the line in week 16. CBS carried the game, and I believe they have ever since.

DBS I get it. But if you’re well off and like football, your argument is tantamount to shoveling poop against the tide. My prediction is that half these games will be on streaming services only in the next ten years. Just too much money that networks can’t compete with.

GOB. I own a Real Estate Investment Company. I am also Retired from HCFD. No I will not pay for cable or any of these cable companies or games. I gave up DISH because they got higher and higher. No I do not have Prime. So Before you decide to insult people because we all do not WASTE our money but invest it remember this. Some of us will listen and watch what we want to. I no longer watch Lightning games because I will not pay that price.

Kudos “”DBS.” You are spot on
May 4th, 2022 at 6:38 pm
Do the Bucs have any money or could free up money to go after james bradberry if he’s release?

Mine is Dumb….J/K 😄

When it comes to Football, If you want to watch football you can, if you do not watch then fine. Whatever is your choice. I would rather see the game than not. One day I will breathe my last breath and whether I had to pay to watch the game or not, will not really matter to me, just the fact that I was able to enjoy watching the game win or lose, (Losing sucks) during my ride on this earth. Football is not life, but it is one of many enjoyable things we have on this planet, and I choose to enjoy lol.
GO BUCS!!!!!

I’m with you August!
Some don’t realize the past 3 years Buccaneer fans have been on Football Heaven. I have no complaints. But it’s okay if they do.
Go Bucs!!!

You don’t even need a smart tv (although unless you’re stuck in 1976, you likely have one). You just need a Roku/FireTV/AppleTV/xbox/PlayStation to be able to stream it. Or your phone while you’re taking a dump or whatever. Anyone complaining about steaming only is just being an old stick in the mud. Get with the times.
May 4th, 2022 at 7:53 pm
Didn’t mean to insult DBS, just don’t bitch about not having football games to watch, if you have the freaking money. I got rid of DirecTV also and joined YouTube TV. I can’t watch Red Sox games. But, I could afford it.
May 4th, 2022 at 7:54 pm
I have and like amazon prime, but if I didn’t have it, I’d be mad about missing a Bucs game.
May 4th, 2022 at 7:57 pm
If you don’t wanna pay, My advice is get NFL game pass. You can’t watch the game until it’s over, but it’s better than nothing. I love boxing, but I won’t buy PPV fights. I just ignored the boxing news for two weeks, then got to watch it on regular showtime, or HBO.

Cut it out and knock it off Commish. Amazon dropped millions on the NFl. Thats the only Greedy reason they got Thurs night Football. To hell with all that lying window dressing.
May 4th, 2022 at 8:12 pm
I have no plans to purchase Amazon prime. Cable tv is just fine for me. I pay enough for cable and internet. Fubo tv is my my to venture away from cable tv at some point. Amazon is anti business and is a monopoly.
May 4th, 2022 at 8:36 pm
I think Amazon is going to change the way people don’t watch football. It is a bad move for the NFL, and I hope the viewership shows that.
May 4th, 2022 at 8:38 pm
There’s always the radio. Listened to many a Bucs game on the radio because they couldn’t fill a stadium to save their lives and games were always blacked out. It’s not that bad.
May 4th, 2022 at 9:36 pm
These millionaires get the tax payers to build their stadiums and then won’t let you watch the games on free tv. What has the world come to?

I live in the Philippines, the Radio option is not there for me lol. with that said, I can still remember listening to all these Bucs announcers in the early years. Ray Scott was the play-by-play man for the Bucs’ 1976 and 1977 seasons. In 1978, Dick Crippen. Mark Champion held the position from 1979 to 1988. Who can forget the legendary team of Gene Deckerhof and Jessie The Body Ventura and Al Keck in 89 lol, Genes first year was 89.
I can still hear Mark Champion saying “And there goes the Franchise” as Doug Williams was scrambling for yards back in 82. Always enjoyed the games on the radio, but watching is still better. All the times of driving and having games on the radio, pretty cool when making long drives between point A and point B. Or going to the store and not missing a play lol College or pro, I love it all.
GO BUCS!!!!

Oh the blackout days, remember those. When that would happen I’d go to a sports bar that would have it. Hopefully that will still be an option. If not, I can miss one Buc game. Hate those Thursday night games anyway. Screw that bald wanna be spaceman. I don’t shop his crap, and certainly won’t pay buzz light year to watch Thursday night football.

The ones crying about spending $9 a month for Amazon probably have no problem pissing away $12 a beer at RayJay.
May 4th, 2022 at 11:55 pm
Joe the best thing I like about this is Prime Video is super easy to watch mobile
May 4th, 2022 at 11:59 pm
can’t you just pay 9 bucks for one month of amazon prime?
and then just cancel if you’re panties are all bunched up to pay for more months?
May 5th, 2022 at 9:02 am
If you already have an Amazon Prime account for buying stuff, Prime video is free. Comes with it. Can’t please everyone.

Just returned from North Korea after 7 months, Kim Jong Il is a Bucs fan, actually a Brady fan, he will put you in a work camp for dissing Bucs (or really any other reason). He is a little perturbed by Amazon and may launch a Nuc if Bucs game is blacked out locally. So just keep it that in mind you imperialist lackeys, He does want an NFL game played in DPRK in 2024, like Germany. He says most of Bucs team should make it home, if he feels like it at the time. Amazon will be dealt with.
