D for me and not because I have an issue with any of the guys that we chose, rather it just boils down to the positions that we are desperate for and willfully ignored. If we stand pat we are going into the season with Mike and Gage as our top two receivers and a bunch of bums and/or one trick ponies to fill out the receiver room until the oft injured Chris Godwin comes back. No one knows for sure when that will be and whether or not he’ll be even close to his former self when he comes back. At best this is irresponsible as it now stands and at worst just plain dumb.
Not drafting a corner within the first three rounds to play opposite Davis also looks like a brain dead move unless we have something in the works to pick up a capable vet. Dean and SMB are far too injury prone and inconsistent to be relied upon at this point despite their obvious talent.
Based soley on the players that we drafted, I’d give us a B.
People grading down because of their perception of what we needed. I’m pretty sure those in the organization have a better idea of what we need than the average fan with far below football intelligence.
I wasn’t a fan of trading up for Ko Kieft, nobody was leaping us for him… and I doubt the edge from LSU will even come in and compete, let alone worthy of a pick.

____________
Brain dead is not realizing that Dean gave up opposing QB rating of 50 (!) and only 53.7% completions and ZERO TDs. He was our best CB last season and it wasn’t even close. So you’re upset that he isn’t an iron man and available for all 17… who is? You don’t draft a guy top 3 rounds to be your 4th CB. SMB needs to improve but he’s better than any CB taken round 2 or later.
This isn’t really a grade for the GM. There was an entire team of people who decided what the priorities were.
We won’t really have an accurate grade for 2 or 3 years but I gave them an A with what is known presently. The Bucs ALREADY had a great team prior to the draft. It’s not easy to bring in multiple starters from the draft when you’re picking at #27. But a number of those who got drafted have a very good chance of making a positive impact on the team by the playoffs. Our special teams will be improved on Day 1. To criticize the drafting of a punter in the 4th round makes no sense to me. This guy will be a significant upgrade and can be the difference in how deep we go into the playoffs.
I’m certain that replacing 2 CB’s with something to prove in a contract year is not a need. If one or both of them leave next year, guess what, there’s another draft next year!
I’m just glad you losers don’t make the picks. If it weren’t for someone else’s research, you wouldn’t have anything to plagiarize in your comments. Please do us a favor and crawl back under your rock.
Brandon, the completion percentage against was actually 48.5 in 2021, but that’s nitpicking and is actually pretty good. The problem with Dean is not that he’s not an iron man, he’s more of a beyond a shadow of any reasonable doubt a fragile and inconsistent man.
Let’s just assume for the sake of argument that Dean is the second coming of Deion Sanders in his prime with occasional bouts of bad play. The guy has started a total of 23 out of a possible 42 games in his career because of either injury or the coaches not thinking that he was worthy of starting. Your best ability is your availability in the nfl and if you are happy going into this season with a dude that has missed nearly half of his potential starts than bless you brother, but I sure as hell am not and I don’t feel that’s anywhere near good enough for a team with super bowl aspirations.
Your argument for SMB is just plain silly. Dude is talented for sure and anyone with just a passing knowledge of football would be able to recognize that. The problem is that he’s also injury prone and routinely gets lit up like a Christmas tree. Check out his completion percentage against on pro football reference (guessing that’s where ya got Dean’s) and you’ll see that it’s downright pathetic. SMB is not good, so you’re telling me that every kid taken at corner in round two or later this year is going to suck or worse?!? Lol, that’s hardly fair dude since they haven’t even gotten a single game to prove themselves in the nfl whereas SMB has gotten plenty.
I love you too Jerry and I’ll go into next year’s draft brimming with confidence that you’ve not only got all of the answers, but the very ear of the man himself Jason Licht. 😛
I give us a solid C+. Thought we would have concentrated on Defensive players more. There were some good ones left in that 2nd and 3rd round. But it is what it is.

Nothing dumber than day after draft grades. Did he fill positions of need? I reckon he did. The rest will have to wait til they play.

How to grade the draft:
My team picked all the players I wanted = A+.
My team didn’t pick any of the players I wanted = F-.
Go from there. Lol.
