“He Would Definitely Be An Upgrade For The Bucs”
April 28th, 2022Joe will go over this one last time why he is so high on Clemson cornerback Andrew Booth, and why Joe believes Booth can help the Bucs win another Super Bowl. As in 2022. As in now, likely Tom Brady’s final rodeo in Tampa.
Joe thinks all Bucs fans saw the poor tackling last winter in the playoff loss to the Rams by the Bucs corners. That didn’t cause the loss but it sure as hell didn’t help.
Throughout the season, the Bucs were beat up in the secondary, specifically at corner. And the depth was lousy (quick, where is the bottle of cologne, Pierre Desir, these days?). When the Bucs were down a starting corner (forget down two), this defense simply was not the same.
Joe estimates the Bucs are likely to lose at least one starting corner in free agency next March. Booth could then step in full-time. As for this year, Joe is confident Booth would get on the field and at worst, improve the shallow depth at corner.
Well, Joe’s good friend Emory Hunt of CBS Sports believes Joe is off base. In fact, Hunt is convinced if the Bucs had a chance to draft Booth, that the pride of Clemson would start, forget about depth.
“I am a big fan,” Hunt told Joe at the combine. Booth “is someone that has great matchup skills. He can play press-man, he can play off coverage. He drives on the football. He can turn the ball over. He can make plays on the ball. He is definitely someone you want on the backend. He would definitely be an upgrade for the Bucs.”
Joe mentioned previously Bucs corners tackled very poorly against the Rams in January. That won’t be an issue for Booth, who is a tackling machine.
“He is one of those players that is a plug-and-play guy,” said Hunt, otherwise known as the “Czar of the Playbook. “I would be surprised if he doesn’t go higher [than the Bucs pick]. But if he falls to where the Bucs pick, you run with the card to make the pick!”
Joe is not against drafting a defensive tackle but Joe does not see an issue whatsoever with the three down-linemen of the Bucs (if Ndamukong Suh returns). Cornerback is a different animal.
If the Bucs land Booth tonight, Joe will have a very slow Friday morning.
So for those pining to upgrade an area of the defensive line that needs no upgrade, celebrate! This is Joe’s final story on Andrew Booth unless he is drafted by the Bucs or he somehow slips into the second round.

Joe just loves this picture of Andrew Booth. If we don’t pick him I’m pretty sure I won’t miss never seeing it again. Thank God it’s draft day.

be so glad when this weekend is over…
Done with all these weeks of lies, useless information, speculations and opinions about players and teams that mostly never play out…
Hope the Bucs draft well though!

I somehow feel one Joe will throw his Big Storm at the TV if we don’t draft Booth.
April 28th, 2022 at 12:36 am
We should all watch “Draft Day”
Kostner absolutely Nailed it!

My birthday is Sunday. That’s gotta mean something.

I’d be fine with this pick, or about 10 to 12 other (possibly) good players.
April 28th, 2022 at 1:26 am
Dear Joe(s),
You overhyped the “Gravediggers” for months after the Super Bowl. Many of us told you were wrong and that Dean, SMB, and also Davis weren’t elite NFL corners yet you posted non-sense article after article trying to prop those guys up.
So you don’t get to now even hint that the Bucs should go corner in the 1st round. Not until you full ‘denounce’ the Gravediggers support you so wrongly posted about for months.
Sincerely,
Observant Bucs Fans That Have Known Dean/SMB/Davis Weren’t That Good

Ok Joe I won’t talk bad about your writing anymore. I will agree that corner is a position of need. I will agree that Booth Jr. is a stud. I don’t think he falls to us but if he does, I wouldn’t mind us picking a corner. They fit the need and they are a highly coveted position $$$. We could always snag Winfrey with 60.
April 28th, 2022 at 1:36 am
Would you Joe’s number off? Joe1, Joe2, Joe3, etc? It would help develop a sense for which articles I might really like or might not…and that’s not a reflection in any way on this article except for it mentions it being one last time why this Joe is high….and wouldn’t it be a better world if us readers could determine if each article is by high Joe, normal Joe or methhead Joe 🙂
April 28th, 2022 at 1:39 am
I mean, look above, poor BradyBucs has lumped every Joe in one cup because he can’t tell his Joe’s apart. All the Joe in one cup is either overflowing or extremely tight quarters. 🤔

Could argue a strong case for CB, S, DT, DE, OL or WR in the first round depending on your argument. Davis, Olave and Wyatt top my wish list, but I don’t really care what position they play as long as they are a high impact player.

Love Booth, but he won’t be there at #27. Neither will Olave or Burke (not that the Bucs need a WR in 1st). I`m doubtful Wyatt will be available at #27. Need to get younger on the DLine. Joe always says you can’t have enough pass rushers. DLine in the 1st round. TE and CB on day 2. Licht has shown his ability to find very good OLine on day 2, so that may also be an option.
If there are no trades, I would love to see
Hall UH DT/DE in 1st
McBride CSU TE in 2nd
Emerson MS ST CB in 3rd
Cook UGA RB in 4th

We need interior pass rush!
April 28th, 2022 at 6:19 am
I do believe CBis our biggest need. That’s assuming suh n gronk are back. If suh no come back then that leaves a pretty big hole that vea can handle but he needs help and if n I doubt it happens but what if gronk doesn’t come back we run all season with just BRATE. 3 years ago that would have bin ok but Brate has lost a step. Booth , hill or cine bring one of those goes in to help this secondary

Bucs front office deserves benefit of the doubt at this point in the current regime.

I’m going to try my damndest to avoid this website today until after our pick tonight.

DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE.
April 28th, 2022 at 7:55 am
IMO the Buc Defense was not as bad as most think last year. They were 7th ranked in points against them at 21 average per game.
The O averaged just over 30 a game and ranked 2nd.
This is where the rubber meets the road. If they can do it again then they should be there come the playoffs.
Actually a lot of ‘breaks and mistakes make the diff in the end. Like The Bowles Blunder, penalties, turnovers, , bad ref calls, drama, etc.

At the Bucs pick it’s a board game ( your lucky if there is one or two of these players left ) , , , who if anyone left on the board is best of class, a future pro bowler , a true difference maker ,has rare coachable talent and if Booth is there ( would be very very surprised) he is all of these . I think this guy is an instant and 10 year type starter . Talented !! Very Good and Talented Player !!
April 28th, 2022 at 8:41 am
Would love to see either line addresses round one, but would run to the podium if Booth were available. He pops on film, a natural with huge upside. I’m all about it, but I doubt he falls to us. Need a run on QBs, it’s the only chance he falls in our lap.

Tackling machine? That’s hyperbole
April 28th, 2022 at 9:55 am
Does Jason L. or Todd Bowled read Joe Bucs Fan ? They can get good draft ideas here.
April 28th, 2022 at 10:27 am
Per PFF, Booth’s nearly 24 percent missed tackle average was 326th in college football last year
How is that a tackling machine? He missed 1 out of 4 tackles.
April 28th, 2022 at 10:40 am
Our first pick should be a plug and play defensive player and the majority of our picks should be on that side of the ball. We have had the good fortune of having a potent offense the past 2 years (hopefully a 3rd this year) with Brady. After he retires after this year, and the uncertainty of who will be dealing the football in 2023, we will need to go back to heavily relying on the D to win games.
April 28th, 2022 at 12:11 pm
Start over who? They didn’t pay Davis all that money to come off the bench and you don’t bench Dean, who gave up an opposing QB rating of 50.0 last season, only 53.7% completions, and ZERO TDs. SMB… sure. Maybe he beats him out.
April 28th, 2022 at 12:12 pm
I love the Nostradamus-like hindsight! Did you football prophets predict all the injuries to those DBs as well?!
How many games did the “starting 11” play together?
Oh, and how poorly did the defense play considering we finished with a 13-4 record and a division title?!
Wow, they were so bad, we almost went 12-5!!! LOL!
