Mike Evans Says Tom Brady’s Intangibles Are “Infectious”

April 5th, 2022

Mike Evans is stoked with Tom Brady’s return.

Infections are not a cool thing to talk about these days but in this case, Joe sure hopes a particular bug spreads through the Bucs’ locker room again.

Mike Evans did a spot on the AP Pro Football Podcast and was asked about the return of Tom Brady. Of course Evans is fired up. But then Evans was asked to try to explain to listeners just what Brady brings to a team and to the locker room.

“He brings that winning culture,” Evans said. “You don’t want to lose when you play with Tom. The way he works, the way he treats everybody, it shows. He is the most detailed player I have ever been around.

“Whatever you think about him, it’s true and then some. He is so detailed. He makes sure everybody knows what they are doing. And he is firey, too. He’s a competitor. He hates losing, like he hates it. It is infectious.”

That is a good virus!

Then Evans got to bragging about the wide receivers room. He said when Chris Godwin gets 100 percent, buckle up, baby.

“I always feel like if me and Chris are healthy and feeling good, I feel like we are the best receivers in the league,” Evans said.

As far as the Bucs adding Russell Gage as a free agent, Evans said he is looking forward to being on the field with him.

“Freak athlete,” Evans said. “Adding a guy like Russell Gage is huge.”

For veterans like Evans, underwear football practice is scheduled to begin in six weeks.

Man, Chris getting healthy will be huge. The Chris Olave stories have also gotten me crazy excited about maybe being able to draft this kid. I think he will be gone by 27, but putting him with Mike, a healthy Chris, and Gage would be insane!

Now we can hope that Evans and Godwin can carry on the winning culture after Brady retires. They seem to have the respect and the creds AND the maturity to carry it forward.

I just need to point out to all the ME13 haters… Jalen Ramsey was asked to give his top five hardest receivers to cover and he listed 11. In no particular order, but right around the 7th or 8th name out of his mouth, was Mike Evans.
    BUCS WR GOAT

Brady was motivated to prove in 2020 that he could win it all without Belichick. This year he will be motivated to show he doesn’t need a highly regarded coach at all.

I just hope the infection sticks around with our leaders on the team after TB12 retires…for good this time.
It’s imperative he is offered a lucrative coaching contract. Maybe part ownership.

@SKBucsFan: You are literally smoking crack if you think Brady, who’s probably close to being a billionaire, is going to spend the 60-70 hour work weeks required of a coach away from home.

Superstars NEVER become coaches. Coaches are the backup schlubs like Jason Garrett, Doug Pederson and Gary Kubiak, who presumably still need the work after retirement.

    Billionaires work smarter, not harder.

  11. SKBucsFan Says:

You’re probably right. Most superstar players never coach. But it doesn’t hurt to offer.
