“For Us, It Was Really An Easy Choice”
March 31st, 2022Team Glazer said today’s formal introduction of Todd Bowles as Buccaneers head coach was three years in the making.
“For us, it was an easy choice,” Glazer said of naming Bowles to succeed Bucco Bruce Arians.
Joe often wondered how much effort Team Glazer had put in getting to know Bowles and Byron Leftwich as coordinators. Did ownership do its homework — all of it — on these men in case Arians stepped down or had a health issue?
Today Joel Glazer confirmed that he and his family team indeed have admired Bowles’ leadership and development of players, as well as the man he is.
Yes, Bowles is different from Arians. Bowles doesn’t smoke or drink, he joked, but he is built in Arians’ mold when it comes to coaching for nearly four decades.
Bowles called Arians a massive influential coaching and father figure to him, and he said he wants the entire world to know how appreciative he is and what a great teacher and understanding leader Arians was.
General manager Jason Licht also noted how much Bowles is revered, respected and admired in the organization.

Cannot wait for the draft and the season to get rolling!!
I mean seriously, does anyone do it better than the NFL? Their season ends and there’s month-long hype over free agency. And then a month-long hype over the draft, televised in prime time. Then there are some camps. Then training camp and preseason. They just keep the hype going year round.

Sometimes I get lost….Doesn´t the GM pick the coach? Isn´t that his job???

Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe makes a very convincing case that Brady got BA out. I haven’t read much on here yet but are we just supposed to believe that that was not the case?

It’s nothing but fake journalists trying to find a story to make people watch. It’s garbage. If you watched BA’s press conference, and Brady was there, he was the same as always. He is a straight shooter who tells it like it is. He explained why he left now and it makes perfect sense.
As soon as someone finds a player or coach who has been with BA that doesn’t like him and didn’t like playing for him then I’ll give 1% credence to this garbage.
On top of that this conspiracy theory would mean Brady came out of retirement and helped get all these other players to come back knowing in the back of his mind he’s going to sabotage the head coach. No chance in hell. Brady is not that guy.

@’79 Defense
I’m of the mind that if Brady wanted Arians out, Arians would be all the way out the door. To me, at least, none of this has raised any alarm bells of seeming shady or rigged. Arians is known for having a bleeding heart about his coaching staff, especially Leftwich and Bowles both of which he would easily give a recommendation for a head coaching gig. Logically, you had to figure that the team had it in mind to promote one of them to HC once Bruce retired, don’t fix what isn’t broken. So when BA says he’s stepping down because he wants Todd to take over a good team raring to go? I buy it. That absolutely sounds like a BA thing to do.

WELL, if this season goes south, it will boil down to these moves the past 2 days!
People like to say, ‘it was the Jets’ BUT the Jets were in the AFC championship game consecutive years before Bowels sunk that team…
Hoping he doesn’t repeat his faiures!

If Brady got BA cut he didn’t do a very good job of it…..still with the Bucs….involved…..at practice…..into the draft….etc.
Also….that’s the narrative the haters are using….the ones that are now saying BA quit on his team….a 69 year old with health issues that stayed 3 years….
Yea……quitter….

@TYE
tell me you know nothing about the Jets w/o actually saying you know nothing about the Jets, who, are still where they were when they hired Bowles lmao. The Jets dysfunction starts with Woody Johnson the owner and it’s trickled down every year since Rex Ryan left. Bowles has been here 3 years now, he knows his staff, players and is in a MUCH better scenario in Tampa.

Thanks David and TBBF– well noted.
Also, don’t know if this was already reported but just found out that the throwbacks aren’t coming back until 2023! Seriously?!!! We still don’t get to see Brady wearing the orange?!

Tye you know there was a 5 year gap between that jets team and when Bowles got there.
They were putrid when he got there. They improved a bit. They were bad when he left. After two more coaches they are still awful.
Doesn’t matter who the coach is over there.

If Brady wanted BA out, BA would NOT be on the practice field every day.
Arians reasons make perfect sense. If that benefits Brady, so be it.

Not a fan of Bowles as head coach… I still remember those awful last 2 calls against the Rams…. if anything that’s why Brady retired… why wouldn’t he .. he gets the game back to being tied with 40 secs left after the defence held them the entire second half. Then some idiot calls nickle blitzes giving esay field goal range away…. did anyone read the transcript of the conversation between Arians and Bowles!!!! Awful

Only time will tell if Bowles can be a good coach, but I’m excited as hell for this season!
