Different Universe For Bucs

March 24th, 2022

Bucs guard Shaq Mason

For those who still visit a therapist to help deal with the painful memories of the Lost Decade, the words from new Bucs guard Shaq Mason may just trigger awful flashbacks or make you think you are living in an alternate universe.

While Joe is still wallowing in the euphoric memories of the Bucs winning the Super Bowl two years ago, or winning the NFC South with 13 wins last year, Joe still cannot shake the scarring memories of garbage football this organization assaulted Bucs fans with from 2011-2018.

Mason was asked today about the trade earlier this month that brought him from the Belicheats to the Bucs and reunited him with quarterback Tom Brady.

Hold on to your seats for this one, Bucs fans.

“I was initially shocked,” Mason said when he learned of the trade. “[A trade] wasn’t on my mind at all. When I knew the destination, I instantly got excited. What better place to come to? What better position to land in? Being with a contender. A high-powered offense. Great defense. Great staff. I mean, I felt like I landed in the perfect position.”

Let that soak in, Bucs fans, “What better place to come to.” A few short years ago, the only reason players seemed to want to come to here was to avoid frostbite and to clean out Team Glazer’s wallet.

Now, players want to come here to win and to chase a ring.

It still feels like a dream to Joe.

One Buc Place need to put up a statue of Tom Brady

  2. New England Patriots Fan Says:

Brady, Tax Rate, Weather, Talented O Line and Player Friendly coaching in that order.

  3. Bird Says:

    Awesome stuff!

Get the nice house on the water and it will be even better my man!

  4. BucfaninMi Says:

It’s too bad that the Glazer family wasn’t the original and only ownership. Say what you will, at least they care about winning and Malcom would been in charge. Seemed like he cared more than the kids. Loving these days as lifelong Buccaneers fan. Articles like this certainly help.

  5. firethecannons Says:

it is not all TB12 blame Jason Licht for this success long time ago the organization was all washed up after jameis ran this ship into the foals. Licht had only one trick left. He pulled Arians number out of his back pocket and it has been a wild historic ride ever since. Arians demanded Brady and Licht followed suit.

  6. Dew Says:

Isn’t Clowney still a FA? I know it’s a stretch but sure would be a boost to the D.

  7. gbobucsfan Says:

    Good stuff!!! What a change.
In that picture, he looks like a cross between Gerald McCoy and Radon Randell. Go Goats!

  8. firethecannons Says:

    oops shoals not foals lol!

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    What a huge difference from the Nolan Mankins reaction……both surprised….one disappointed & reluctant….the other excited & enthused….

Welcome Mr. Mason…..you make the pain vanish from losing Cappa….

  10. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

Who remembers Logan Mankins “1000 yard stare” when facing the Tampa Bay media for the first time? The guy looked like someone shot his dog.

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Logan Mankins….sorry…

  12. Cobraboy Says:

But But But…everybody knows Arians & Co. are complete incompetents…

  13. adam from ny Says:

tommy b has changed the culture like no other

  14. SufferingSince76 Says:

Brady has meant everything to this team. He deserves every bit of the accolades he’s received. The man knows the game inside and out. It’s time to let him call the plays. He is every bit as capable as Peyton Manning.

  15. Anonymous Says:

I’m very excited for the team, I can’t wait
    Lets go Bucs!!!!!

  16. Smashsquatch Says:

Amen Joe, ditto to that. Pinch me.

  17. YetiBucSmash Says:

Similarly, my employer traded me from Melbourne to the Tampa office so I join you all this next week as a resident there. 115 mile move due west. No more i4 commutes to football games on game day! LFG!!!!

  19. sasquatch Says:

It’s not just Brady, although his influence has been huge. We have a legit GM and front office and a proven HC and staff. The organization turned the corner and then getting Brady and winning a SB validated it further.

  20. Defense Rules Says:

Shaq Mason … ‘When I knew the destination, I instantly got excited. What better place to come to? What better position to land in? Being with a contender. A high-powered offense. Great defense. Great staff. I mean, I felt like I landed in the perfect position.”

Mason was drafted by the Patriots back in 2015, and I bet he said exactly the same thing the night he was drafted. Patriots had just won the 2014 SB with a high-powered offense led by Tom Brady & a very good defense. Shaq started 10 games as a rookie in 2015, and never let up after that … including winning the 2016 & 2018 Super Bowls. He’ll fit right in here.

  21. ErikTheViking Says:

Get over it Joe. We’re in the cat bird seat, for now. Once TB12 leaves for good, we’ll be bottom feeders again. This is where building a replacement for Brady comes in. That has to be paramount. Or be ready to trade for another great veteran. QB1 means everything.

  22. Crickett Baker Says:

I wish you guys would stop piling jobs on Brady like he should call plays, be GM, pick guys in the draft, etc., etc. and just let him continue to be the best QB and leader that he is!

  23. Warren Says:

It’s just nice to know the Bucs will be relevant for one more year. And who knows, maybe they can pull off another Super Bowl appearance!

  24. AlvaFan Says:

Forget Clooney totally overrated with no heart. Now there’s the definition of mercenary

  25. AlvaFan Says:

I meant Clooney but I don’t want Clooney either lol

  26. adam from ny Says:

    cappa be like:

    #CappaDoesntCountAgaintTheCap

  27. AlvaFan Says:

Clowney Clowney Clowney take that autocorrect

  28. kyle Says:

agreee^^^^kansas95buc!! Can they just take grudens statue, melt it down and replace him with Brady. Brady deserves to be there with the all time bucs.

  29. Jeff Says:

Wow!!! Wow!!! Wow!!! Tom Brady has reborn the Bucs brand. Excited about Tampa bay! Hahaha! Awesome!

  30. TampabayDJ82 Says:

@LISTNFRMAFAR – You here that you turd of a fan ?? Even a New England fan is on here saying good things about our Bucs ! Funny how you were the first one to jump ship 🚢 when YOU thought Brady hated the Bucs and the coaches… “Free Brady” ??? He’s free to put up another monster season with our Bucs and will love doing it. Go Bucs

  31. DEEEMO Says:

I got here in 85 from Pittsburgh and after watching all those great teams the Steelers had in the 70’s the Bucs looked like a JV squad. But I still went to the games at the old Sombrero and started rooting for the Bucs. Then Dungy came and turned it around with a great Defense. Gruden won the Super Bowl with Dungy’s team then he tore the team apart in the following years. Then misery again till BA took over and we got Brady and now we are back! Enjoy it while you can cause you don’t know what tomorrow brings!!!! Bucs Fan all the way no matter what!

  32. Buc4lyfe79 Says:

What Kansas95Buc said, with Brady standing in a Capn Morgan like pose, one foot atop his helmet, while one arm clutches a football against his ribcage, his eyes fixed in a stone cold gaze, staring forward at a future filled with Lombardi trophies and boat parades. GO BUCS!!! LONG LIVE THE G.O.A.T.!!!

  33. DRFEELGOOD Says:

Gruden did NOT win with Dungy’s team!! While I consider Dungy the greatest influence of our culture in team history (went to game 1 when I was 9 years old), we added Michael Pittman, Joe Jurevicius, Keenan McCardell, Ken Dilger, Ricky Dudley, and I think Pro Bowl center Jeff Christie when Gruden arrived. We went THREE straight years to the playoffs without scoring ONE offensive TD!!! I love Dungy but he was WAY too conservative. I would argue he won the Super Bowl with Peyton Manning’s team!

  34. BringBucsBack Says:

    Shaq s showing his age!

Joe, the Bucs won the SB one (1) year ago.

  35. Buczilla Says:

It’s an awesome time to be a Buc fan.

  36. BringBucsBack Says:

DrFEELGOOD, Don’t forget starting left tackle, Roman Oben. I thing Jeff Christie came later. I agree with the rest of your opinion.

  37. unbelievable Says:

Tom Brady has transformed this organization. There is no question about that.

I just hope that when he does hang it up, some of the other guys on the team are able to carry on that same championship pedigree and mindset, and teach instill it in new players for years to come.

  38. Anonymous Says:

Wait… I thought that closet Pats fan/Bucs troll List said Brady hated it here because of how poorly the Bucs are run compared to New England. Yet without Brady New England has been so irrelevant their fans have to come here for excitement

  39. cmurda Says:

T minus about 2 weeks or so ago and I felt that head slump, pit of my stomach, “my Bucs suck again” feeling. Tb’s back and bam. On top of Mount Kilimanjaro again.

  40. David Says:

Culture change and it started with LICHT, then BA, the rest of the coaches, and of course Brady.

It’s incredible to me that people who consider themselves Buccaneer fans think Licht & BA are not good. 😂 😂

  41. DEEEMO Says:

Totally agree with what David just wrote!

  42. MJ Says:

Super excited for Bucs football this upcoming season. TB12 is doing everything he can to rebuild this team and hopefully, a no. 1 winning team at that. Let’s go Bucs!
