The Buccaneers And Rachaad White

On the Senior Bowl preview podcast, I discussed my favorite running back, Rachaad White out of Arizona State, and the impact he could have in the NFL.
The 6-3, 215-pounder led all running backs in that college all-star game with 11 carries for 52 yards against a very impressive defensive front full of top-tier talent.
In 2021, he rushed for 1,006 yards and 15 touchdowns, even more impressive was the former wide receiver turned running back catching 43 passes for 460 yards.
My NFL comparison is Le’veon Bell, and it’s no surprise he had a formal interview with the Bucs’ coaching staff last month where they discussed quick decision-making and pass protection, something Rachaad White takes great pride in.
The Bucs still need a strong running game, even with Tom Brady, and while I like Ke’Shawn Vaughn he is not an every down back and his hands are average at best. A stable of running backs is ideal and this draft offers incredible depth into the third round, where White would fit nicely onto the roster.

Sure. If he’s available in the 4th or 5th round. This year’s first 3 picks are too important to waste on an RB.

If drafting a running back is a waste then why are we so worried about signing Fournette SK?

Not sure if Lenny is coming back but if he doesn’t, there are definitely some decent running backs in the draft that catch out of the backfield as well. Along with the Vaughn that might be enough, although they would probably have to sign a cheaper veteran as well

6’3?? At RB 215 LBS?? not sure I’ve ever seen this dimensions on a RB, I’ve never seen him play though

I’m from AZ and a huge Sun Devils fan. This young man here was basically the Devils offense the past 2 years. He’s really shifty, not fast but quick. His hands are great for a RB and he always seems to be moving forward. If he is there in the 4th or 5th round I would take him in a heartbeat.

All I know is Licht needs to draft impact players in 2022.
Drafting all backups or developmental players in 2021 did not help this team in 2021. It was downright criminal how he treated last offseason.

Sorry Joe , but Alabamas’ Brian Robinson Jr. is far superior as a day 3 choice. Robinson has far more rushing yards with 14 TD’s , similar pass numbers , and played at Alabama. Robinson has alot of tread left on the tires as well since he only started his Senior year. Give me the Alabama RB every time. Robinson is projected anywhere in late 3rd round.

Did some research on White and Sullivan is correct. Definitely worth a draft pick. Probably in the fourth round or beyond, but this guy seems to be the real deal. Size, speed, power and great hands as well.

Bama backs can be great obviously. Look at King Henry who was taken in the second round. But out of 32 starting running backs in the NFL only three are from Alabama. And one of those is Mark Ingram who’s well passed his prime. Running backs can be had from any program these days. This kid is just a good at bet as any other in the later rounds.

OLINE and DLINE are the major needs of the Bucs right now.
DLINE is the biggest nerd of the Bucs. Currently Vea and Nunez are our only DT’s left from the rotation of Suh, Vea, Gholston and Nunez.
OLINE has a massive hole with the retirement of Marpet and loss of depth with Stinnie replacing Cappa.
Next major needs the Bucs have are RB1, TE1, and WR3.
SS becomes a major need as well if Whitehead leaves as well.

A good RB in the 3rd or 4th is a possibility. Need to draft a Guard and another CB, and maybe a DT and/or DE first though.

This needs to be a trenches draft for the 1st 2 rounds.
DT and Guard.
Then BPA next 2 rounds that fills a need we didn’t fill with free agency ( tight end if no Gronk, safety if no white head, RB if no Fournette ) and maybe a wideout.

Bucs are working on a deal with Fournette the hang up is years he wants 3 year deal and Licht wants 1.

Playoff Lenny is a Brady favorite- no doubt been valuable in critical games-however he has never played an entire season- “hamstring” has been a re-occurring issue since his Jag days- so we will need Lenny, Vaughn and another one to make it through 17 games plus playoffs- dont see why we wouldn’t give him 2 or 3 years– we’ll have the same needs next year

I’d rather sign one than draft one. At least you know what you are getting. Licht hasn’t drafted one yet that has appealed to the experts on here.

As I have said in other posts…BUILD THE O and D LINES! THAT IS WHERE THE WINS COME FROM! Look at the Super Bowl winners from the past 10 years, all had top notch O & D Lines!

Former WR turned RB, reminds me of the versatility of C-Pat, except it took the NFL dang near his entire career to figure out how to use him right. This guy will be ready set go from day 1.

White is a nice fit, but I would not spend a 3rd on him.
If it’s not Breece Hall in the 2nd…4th rd would be the sweet spot for RB’s this yr.
There will be a grouping of quality role player backs coming off the board in quick succession to kick off Day3….Identifying which one is the best scheme fit to pair with Vaughn will key.

All the scouting reports say he is a horrible pass blocker. That he can’t follow pulling guards. HARD pass.

Rachaad White may be great, but he is one of those college backs who look great in the reels, running in the open field or minimal competition untouched for 20 yards. He also runs high. Lenny was one of those college backs, too. How do these backs do in more traffic?
The true feature back who runs lower who is powerful and shifty. That’s what I’d love to see behind Brady. In free agency, I like R. Mostert, if he’s healthy, and Rashad Penny, who improved in to a beast after working with Adrian Peterson.
