Sunday Report: Bucs One Of Three Teams That Will Be “Aggressive” Talking Directly To Deshaun Watson
March 13th, 2022Fresh news on the pursuit of creepy, massage-loving quarterback Deshaun Watson.
The Texans are yearning to deal their 26-year-old Pro Bowl quarterback, who sat out last season. Now that he won’t be charged criminally on any of the 20-plus allegations against him of sexual-related misconduct, many NFL teams are hungry to trade for Watson with a weak class of college and free agent quarterbacks making him look like an even greater savior.
Longtime Texans reporter Aaron Wilson, now of Pro Football Network, took to Twitter this afternoon to explain that Watson will be allowed to talk to teams directly.
This is a huge development because Watson has a no-trade clause, so talking to teams directly will give him a greater feel for where he wants to play. Houston is making the wise move, helping spark more demand in Watson by letting him charm teams personally.
Whether any of this is good for the Bucs is unclear. Joe suspects Bucco Bruce Arians is working his best sales pitch. Keep in mind Arians met Watson during the 2017 draft process and then spent time with him in 2018 when Arians was a broadcaster for a Texans game with CBS.
Are the Bucs interested? Wilson says Tampa Bay, Carolina and New Orleans “will be aggressive” trying to lure Watson.
Texans are expected to grant permission for Deshaun Watson to talk to teams interested in him, hasn't happened yet, though, according to league sources. This isn't a situation that has to be rushed, but NFL teams will be aggressive, including Panthers, Saints, Buccaneers

LOL
The battle for the NFC South is happening right now, in the offseason.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:20 pm
Let’s Go!! Make the trade!!
March 13th, 2022 at 12:23 pm
We have the least draft capital but the best offensive team on paper at least as of today. Should be interesting.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:24 pm
this is a joke, right?
another scumbag under center?
loss of sponsors?
no way
March 13th, 2022 at 12:25 pm
I say go for it…… within reason. It’s up to JL to figure out what “within reason”
Means to us!
March 13th, 2022 at 12:26 pm
So if we don’t land him, we face him twice every year for the next decade.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:26 pm
I guess we didn’t learn our lesson with flaky Freeman or Winston.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:27 pm
F**k them draft picks!! Make it happen
March 13th, 2022 at 12:28 pm
Bad move.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:35 pm
Walk da plank: I thought the exact same thing.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:38 pm
Hes served less suspension time than Tom Brady.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:46 pm
That’s funny. The story I just read says that only Carolina and the slimy Saints have made offers. But making up that the Bucs are interested in good reading i suppose.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:47 pm
Within reason, I am for the Watson trade provided he works with Bucs to build a team around him to compete for several seasons. He also needs to fly right and keep it in his pants. If signed, do we trade the rights to Brady to 49ers as if Brady wanted to uretire, it wouldn’t be with Bucs any longer unless Watson was suspended for the season.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:47 pm
The scouting report from the massuse says Watson is aggressive and has a “quick release”.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:47 pm
“is” not “in”
March 13th, 2022 at 12:48 pm
Haha
It is battle of nfc south
Not sure how saints would be in running?
Arent they still like 50 mil over cap even after redoing oline and receiver deals
I guess they could trade pics and 2-3 solid defenders with high salaries like lattimore and jordan or safety (cant think of name)
Hopefully no payton and rookie head coach will put cabash on that
I think its down to bucs and carolina
Carolina is clearly not the team we are but watson has strong ties to clemson and they would love him over there
Bucs have better team cause if he signs, other players will fall in linenhere and we will have to do some capology with greenberg. Lovie hates us though
And he apparently is giving green light to panthers per report so i think it will be panthers
March 13th, 2022 at 12:50 pm
Smoke & mirrors … and national media BS. Some of these pundits should have their press credentials confiscated after some of the dribble they’ve been pushing.
Bucs don’t have a pot to pee in, and can only rework a few upper-end salaries to gain CAP space. We can’t afford to trade away any of our younger talented starters (like Wirfs) because they’d be too expensive to replace. Plus we need each & every draft pick that we have just to stay afloat (and we need them to start as rookies). If JL does a deal for Watson we’ll be the dregs of the NFC South for many years to come … and Watson will leave in 2 years for greener pastures.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:50 pm
We land Watson, which is doubtful cause Bucs fans rarely get to have nice things, same cry babies complaining about his personal life, will be crammed into RJS cheering every bug play he produces, unless he murders, rapes, or hurts a child, his image can be rehabilitated with a sincere apology and some counseling, plus a 12 win season, grow up Karen
March 13th, 2022 at 12:55 pm
Those of you who say no way this happens and this would be impossible I would like to get on the record right now. This way I can return all the trolling back at you if it actually does happen.
Please and thank you, 😉
March 13th, 2022 at 12:56 pm
The south…. We have to keep him away from those other two teams, I’m not interested in seeing Trask battle Watson on Sundays
March 13th, 2022 at 12:57 pm
There’s just no way the Bucs can compete if Watson is good with going to Carolina. They have better trade capital and cap room. The only way it works is if he wants to win now and demands a trade only to the Bucs.
March 13th, 2022 at 12:58 pm
SK now try reading and telling the rest of the story. Like the rest of the teams STILL INVOLVED.
March 13th, 2022 at 1:00 pm
Defense Rules if CAP is your concern. Dont forget the biggest factor in contract reworking which would be Watson own contract. Speading out his contract CAP hit is the biggest move you can do to fit him on the team.
Smoke & mirriors is an intresting take. If the Saints and Carolina are intrested it makes a lot of sense that the Bucs do all they can to drive up the price.
March 13th, 2022 at 1:04 pm
Been there. Done that. Not again nope.
March 13th, 2022 at 1:14 pm
Baker Mayfield smoke getting thicker
March 13th, 2022 at 1:21 pm
After reading this article I feel like going for a massage
March 13th, 2022 at 1:22 pm
If the Bucs trade for Watson gets in trouble again this could put the team in shambles for years to come. And BA will say see Licht I am retiring.
March 13th, 2022 at 1:23 pm
They are up to something for sure. If they were headed towards a rebuild, no way Arians would stick around. Unless after nothing pans out he retires before the draft
March 13th, 2022 at 1:23 pm
Good thing Mike Ditka isn’t the Bucs GM. He’d trade the entire next two drafts for Watson.
March 13th, 2022 at 1:23 pm
This has drew Brees wrote all over it….
We should of got drew ..
We should get Watson…
The most important position is qb for a team…
I think the bucs will get him if they want him.
Funny thing I keep pointing out is that he controls where he will be traded..
With the no trade Claus…
So what my point about that is he has the Texan over the barrel if I’m the bucs I tell him…Will pay you what you want and surround you with any weapon you want…but we want you to force the Texans to take the 1st this year and second next yr that can turn into a 1.
That way we have draft Capitol to either get you more oline another wr or a te that fit with you.
Far as Def we will need to free agent grabs to stay decent on that side.
No one has explained to me while we are cash strapped….
We just unloaded like 80 million in the 9 players
Brady gronk jpp suh Jensen marpet cappa Davis golhston the list goes on…gronk 10mil Jensen was highest paid center market over 10 mil jpp 10 mil suh 10mil marpet over 10mil not even accounting brady or any of the other players hooooowwww tf we broke???
March 13th, 2022 at 1:25 pm
Whoever makes this trade wins the NFC South.
March 13th, 2022 at 1:26 pm
Yup^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
March 13th, 2022 at 1:28 pm
Watson knows already where he wants to go. Its more where the team is / will be after trading draft picks ,FA etc. imo
March 13th, 2022 at 1:30 pm
I hope not. We went from crabby Uber man to the best qb of all time and model teammate and citizen. Too many accusers not to be legit. He’s not what we need here in Tampa and I don’t picture Mr. all about me ever giving a home town discount.
March 13th, 2022 at 1:42 pm
No QB is Brady so you won’t see anyone giving discounts if you can get a franchise QB you make the move and I’m sure bucs are doing everything they can to land Watson
March 13th, 2022 at 2:08 pm
Send in the curving masseuse’s
March 13th, 2022 at 2:23 pm
Just take a minute & imagine if Watson ends up at a NFC South rival…While the Bucs roll with Gabbert/Trask, going forward.
That my friends, would be a massive Bucs organizational failure with long lasting ramifications.
March 13th, 2022 at 2:26 pm
The saints stuff is a smokescreen in my opinion.
March 13th, 2022 at 3:01 pm
Jerry … ‘Whoever makes this trade wins the NFC South.’
I wonder if Houston said that in 2020 with Watson at the helm when they went 4-12. Or in 2021 when they went 4-13 with Watson out for ‘non injury related reasons’.
Anyone want to guess what ‘non injury related’ means in his case? Well according to AP News …
‘Watson signed a four-year, $156 million contract in 2020. He has a no-trade clause but asked the team to move him earlier this year BEFORE the sexual misconduct allegations became public. The Texans have been paying Watson not to play, placing him on the inactive list each week. The league hasn’t disciplined him yet.’
Nice work if you can get it. Be thankful we weren’t the Houston Texans. Oh wait, there seem to be many JBFers who wish they were. My bad.
March 13th, 2022 at 3:27 pm
Lovie will make sure bucs DONT get Watson.
March 13th, 2022 at 3:50 pm
No chance. Last place finish in the South. The Joe’s know.
March 13th, 2022 at 4:58 pm
I don’t want Watson one bit, but something bothers me. I haven’t seen Trask play, nor much of Gab since he has been schooled by Brady. What bothers me is that Licht and Arians have seen them both in practice and are still mumbling about getting a different qb. I would be happy to see how they do, but this concerns me. I also just watched the Man in the Arena (hulu had a special deal that included ESPN+) and Brady was pretty bad, a lot. Truly, defense won a lot of his games and his teams went 10 years with no SB wins.
March 13th, 2022 at 5:17 pm
If the Watson plan by the Bucs works those picks will be in the high 20’s if it flops they will be 1st 2nd or #3 overall. The better the Bucs do with Watson the less valuable is the pick.
March 13th, 2022 at 6:01 pm
There’s a good article in SI that is from a masseuse who isn’t related to the current civil case who had a similar story to all the other ones. Looks like SI thoroughly investigated it. Innocent until proven guilty, yes, but where there’s a lot of anime there’s fire. People are overlooking that he could end up suspended for many games even IF he doesn’t creep fondle anyone else. We’ve been through this with JW. I can’t cheer for a guy like this or a team who brings him in. We’ll see what happens. I suspect he’s overrated and another incident waiting to happen. IMHO not worth the risk or the creepy guy factor.
March 13th, 2022 at 6:02 pm
A lot of smoke, not anime.
March 13th, 2022 at 7:03 pm
I’m hearing that as many as four number one picks for this guy? Too much draft capital. If two number ones, Devin, and one of our pass rushers ain’t enough I’m rolling with Trask and hopefully a rookie. No criminal charges, but the guy is still carrying a lot of baggage and Tampa is a mecca for shady establishments.
March 13th, 2022 at 8:32 pm
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
