The Perfect Bruce Arians Quarterback

March 3rd, 2022

“Tommy, you were perfect.”

The cool thing about coaches going to the combine and speaking before the national media is the different perspective one gets. Different questions are asked and you get fresh insight into a coach.

That’s what took place when Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians took to the podium earlier this week at the Indiana Convention Center (nee: Hoosier Dome) in downtown Indianapolis.

Arians was asked what the traits are in the perfect Arians-type quarterback.

“Grit – he’s got to be tough,” Arians began. “A leader – a guy that the team will follow. And, he’s got to know what the hell he is doing. I mean, he cannot turn the ball over.”

Well, aside from Trait No. 1, Joe believes we know why Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is wearing a slimy Saints jersey these days.

And Tom Brady? Pretty obvious as well he has all the traits Arians desires in a signal-caller.

Now the real question is, how many of these traits does Blaine Gabbert possess?

Is that really a question Joe? C’mon.. we all know it’s NONE!

  2. PSL Bob Says:

If there’s no Door No. 2, go with Trask. I’d rather have the unknown than the known bad.

  3. Snookman Says:

Gabbert is the right qb for tampa. A back up who knows system and or bridge qb while Trask/future FA is ready. We aint winning the SuperBowl with any qb not named wilson. Might as well set the team up for 2023 and beyond.

  4. Craig Says:

Gabbert is just standing in line to hold Trask’s place, so the question is if Trask has leadership and grit.

Trask pulled the Gators together, after Felippe Franks almost broke them. He showed grit in the Cotton Bowl when all the other senior starters sat it out.

We just need to know if he can translate that to the pro game. I’ll bet on him.

  5. Mort Says:

They’ll bring back Gabbert and let them compete. BA made that pretty clear tbh.

  6. fern Says:

You guys keep telling yourself Blaine Gabbert is the guy

  7. Mike Johnson Says:

Reading between the lines from Bruces Combine comments, We are gonna go with Gabbert and tTask. You never know, Trask might surprise us. I just think not though. Just hope we really build a Bad A.. Defense. We are gonna need it.

  8. adam from ny Says:

there is an article i saw online, but didn’t read it, that states as it’s headline that tom is waiting for BA to retire and then he’ll comeback – most likely after this year – to then come back to the bucs…

    wtf is going on ???

  9. adam from ny Says:

well in BA’s offense…not tom’s offense…trask is going to be throwing a ton of ints without a cannon for an arm…

expect a boatload of ints from trask if he’s the starter…

granted, expect a more balanced attack too, so they totally don’t throw trask under the bus and destroy the youngster…

i’m guessing a full season from trask equals 25 ints, with less throws than the 2019 jameis

  10. Jordan Says:

Our ceiling is a wild card or a weak division winner next year.

Ideally we make it to the playoffs with Trask in his first year as a starter, and retain enough guys who have won a Super Bowl that it sets us up for a Super Bowl run in 2023.

  11. Alanbucsfan Says:

Trask will be the starter week 1

  12. adam from ny Says:

    it’s a trask life

  13. CChead Says:

    Mariota
    Gabbert is a turnover machine.

  14. QB1 Says:

If Gabbert is our QB1, you might as well forget about the playoffs. This guy is a backup only because he keeps the bench warm. In no universe is he the answer to losing the GOAT. I pray this is all a smoke screen. Brad Johnson was a game manager. We need another guy like that. Cousins sounds like a good fit in my opinion.

  15. Bucsfanman Says:

    Two words: Rich Gannon!

I’m not saying it’s GOING to happen. I’m just saying it’s not impossible.

What a stoopid comment. Brady never had a cannon.

Stoopid. Brady never had a cannon.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Doesn’t turn it over…..I guess that leaves America’s Quarterback out.

  19. Listnfrmafar Says:

Blah, blah, blah just more spew from BA stating the obvious. I’m surprised he did add, can run a 4.35 40. The man just irks me.

  20. adam from ny Says:

    @niles:

    lol…brady had, and still has…EVERYTHING

  21. Proud Bucs Fan Says:

Just more BS from Bucs Coattail riding coach Succo Bruce Arrogance.

With all those traits, why do you need the headcoach?

  22. Its a Bucs Life Says:

I had a dream last night that Trask started the season for the first 6 games (3-3) record and then Watson comes back from suspension and helps the Bucs win the division.

  23. Bobby M. Says:

In order to land a solid starting QB, we’ll have to trade away draft capital at a minimum, possibly a starter which will makes us destined to be a lesser team than previous years BUT in a super weak division. I think our division might appeal to Wilson or Carr, those guys have some pretty tough paths to even a wild card spot….in the NFC South they could cruise to a division title for years to come. Brady made a career of dominating a very weak division and completing step one of winning championships…..you must make the playoffs consistently. Get in and a lot can happen but you first have to get in. Carr probably has THE most difficult path and maybe he’s ready to go somewhere with a bit more stability and professionalism.

  24. Cobraboy Says:

So Tr4ask learned a lot studying behind Brady, but Gabbert learned nothing?

This is the problem with casuals…

FACT: nobody knows how well Gabbert would play as the starter. One can hardly use his formative years being abused by bad teams as an indication of future success.

  25. SPARKY Says:

Brady was everyone’s idea of the perfect QB. You had him Bruce, screwed up.

  26. Oneilbuc Says:

Lol 😆 So can yall please stop calling him a quarterback whisper or a quarterback guru ? He’s showing every one that he can’t and have never developed a quarterback!! I wish he would just retire we need a new and younger head coach because BA is a out dated coach!!

None of this matters seeing how you’re a Patriots fan.

  28. Letsbuccinggo Says:

    I am still laughing!!!!!!!

  29. Lamarcus Says:

Stupid. BA is saying he doesn’t want to teach or develop a Qb. What good is BA now without Brady? 7-9?

  30. Oneilbuc Says:

Cobraboy. Remember that’s not a good excuse for Gabbert because it wasn’t a good excuse for Jamies. Jamies came to a team that was 2 and 14 and he played with trash defenses and kickers but he was the problem Remember?? How many teams and chances Gabbert has had so no Gabbert!! It’s Kyle Trask time because BA is a quarterback whisper !! Lol 😆 🤣

  31. Niles Says:

    @adam from ny

If a cannon of an arm is needed to prevent interceptions in an Arians offense, how come in the 2019 season, under Arians, Jamoist “Cannon” Winston became the first 30-30 quarterback in NFL history?

    Thanks for playing!

  32. Chris Flores Says:

Blaine doesn’t have any of these qualities, and the best thing Bruce can do is beg Brady to return

  33. catt1126 Says:

What sucks among the comments is people bashing Bowles. This is a guy whos brilliant game plan won the SB for us just last year. I mean, what’s that about? So, every call he makes has to be perfect? Every game plan, perfect? What about execution (or lack) by the players. These so-called fans are pitiful. With regards to our QB for ’22, BA, BL, and the O coaches always claim they are, in essence, teachers. So, take Gabbert/Trask and teach, mold, guide to greatness. That is the job of the coaches. No moaning about what we don’t have. Take what we do, and excel.

  34. Listnfrmafar Says:

More words of wisdom from Bucs wish it was 1987. Your input is invigorating.

  35. adam from ny Says:

    what if:

gabbert does’t even want to be the guy to step in after brady…

the shoes might be so big to fill, that it might be logical to just give the offense to trask for a year…

    until the brady wave subsides…

who the hell really wants to try and replace brady…

if trask can carry us to 10-7 and a division title, we’ve got a keeper…

if not, time to fill the “ghost of brady” spot

    ……..

What a STUPID statement!!! 69 TDS to 15 ints in 20 games in the SEC?!?!?!

Dude. Hate all you want but don’t be Stupid. Trasks No.1 good trait is taking care of the ball!

if trask can carry us to 10-7 and a division title, we’ve got a keeper”

That’s a high bar, designed to knock Trask when he falls short of it. With our schedule Brady himself probably could do better than 11-6.

  39. Niles Says:

    could not do better

  40. Bucsfanman Says:

Some of you crack me up. Nothing Arians or Licht does will please you…until we start winning. Funny, there wasn’t any squawking after the SB.

Any idea of what we call those fans?! Something about a wagon?!

With Arians as HC, I trust this team more now than I did than any time other than the Dungy era!

  41. SufferingSince76 Says:

I think it’s pretty clear they are not trading for a starting QB. So it’s either Gabbert or Trask. And you guys bashing BA stating the same tired lines, why don’t you list all of the actual things he has done to the detriment of the team, instead of just crying? The guy is no different than any other coach when it comes to speaking double talk and BS. And who cares if he can’t develop a QB? That’s what his staff is for.

  42. Joe Foley Says:

    Wake up Buc fans!
Brady did his job on offense, how the hell there was no deep defenders to stop a winning field go.
DA, where was the command football defence.
That was the last straw for Tom Terrific

    WELL SAID Bucsfanman, agree 1000%

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  44. Listnfrmafar Says:

Bucsfan & August are on Crack, BA went 7-9 before Brady and will fall below that this season now that he is gone. You’re all forgetting how much Brady, Gronk, Marpet, AB contributed to the success of this team. You think that experience is easy to replace? 6-11 at best. BA blames everyone under the sun except himself and his clown possy.

  45. TJ Says:

Unquestionably if we do not make a trade, it’s Gabbert over Trask. Our window is NOW. Trask is a project. Arians didn’t come back for this. It all does not matter however if our defense continues to be undisciplined. That defensive weakness will be even more glaring without Brady keeping us close. With Gabbert we are a playoff team, but only a “middle of the road” playoff team. Trask we struggle for 7-8 wins. It’s just a fact for inexperienced QBs. Very few are successful first year starting. So lets face it, Trask is a stop gap just like Gabbert.

  46. TampabayDJ82 Says:

Bucsfanman – Thank you! At least I’m not the only one who can see a bunch of FAKE FAN’S that should go root for the Jags or Dolphins !! Bandwagon Bucs fans!!
