The Creamsicles Are Back… Sort Of

The creamsicles are coming back, but not for a while.
Last year the NFL finally relented on their silly rule that teams could not change helmets when wearing throwback uniforms. That’s why it hasn’t been since the former Bucs commander Greg Schiano Administration when the classic creamsicle uniforms were last worn.
A pewter helmet with a creamsicle jersey would look sort of stupid.
This fall the Bucs were planning to break out the creamsicles once again, but that won’t happen until 2023, per Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com.
Due to global supply chain challenges, we will have to wait one more year than hoped. This is the earliest that Nike can finish production of the orange uniforms.
The team originally held a series of Throwback Games from 2009 to 2012 and they were extremely popular with Buccaneers fans. In addition to outfitting players in uniforms inspired by the orange and white sets the team wore from its inaugural season of 1976 through 1996, the Buccaneers also decked out Raymond James Stadium in orange for those occasions.
Normally this would be the part of the story where Joe would insert a one-liner about Red Chinese slave labor but Joe is running on fumes from his 2 a.m. wakeup call to start his day destined for Indianapolis and the combine, perhaps the final combine in Indianapolis. Joe is typing this here story from his downtown Indianapolis hotel room.
One day Joe is going plow through the red stop lights of pricier fares. Joe’s too cheap to buy more expensive fares even though you get more civilized departure times.
Running on no sleep doesn’t seem to be worth saving $100-$200 anymore because the first day of your trip you are worthless from exhaustion so you are burning a night at a hotel for nothing anyway.
Joe had always hoped to see Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski and Playoff Lenny and Ndamukong Suh in the creamsicles. Pretty safe bet that won’t happen now.

Stepping over a dollar to pick up a dime is not the way to go Joe!
When I plan a vacay I look for the Easiest way to do so, Never the cheapest.
It always cost more in the end one way or the other when trying to be too frugal.

brady did indeed mention at one point that he was excited to rock the orange unis…
also these unis are fuggin classic…
no team would rock anything like this moving forward in the nfl…straight classics…
and proving to be dam good unis when you don’t see them on a weekly basis…
maybe some of the best to ever be worn in the nfl…
it they didn’t have the losing stigma attached to them from the past, these would be all league nfl faves imho…
then again i’m bias AF

the 1979 bucs looked like a sick group that year rocking the orange…(sick as in good)
that’s the year i became a bucs fan…
and everyone used to rock big bulky shoulder pads too…
i was a baby…i used to write to doug williams, ricky bell and leeroy selmon from new york…i kid you not…and a couple months later they would send me autographed pictures of themselves in a cheap yellow mailing envelope…
i swear they did this back in the days…you could write to the guys on the team and they responded to you with personal notes, pictures and autographs…
thinking back, that’s crazy

Wow, let’s hope the next bit of news is that TB is coming back for one more year now that the popsicle uni’s return is delayed until 2023 season year? Maybe even AM delays his retirement then too?

Worst uniforms in NFL history bar none! We were the laughing stock of the NFL! I think those uniforms were why we had 18 losing seasons out of 21 years wearing them. It’s pretty hard to perform well when you look so ridiculous. As soon as we changed them we went 6 straight years without a losing season and won a Superbowl. A coincidence…. I think not. They could finally walk on the field with dignity. Thank god we now have arguably one of the best uni’s in the NFL. The Red & Pewter rocks!! Sure, just in case the younger generation isn’t aware of what a clown show we once were, let’s slap those creamsicle jersey’s on and show them. I still have nightmares from my childhood when I see them. We can count that game as a lose each year, unless the other team is laughing so hard they can’t see straight 😂

I’d like to know what the Bucs all-time records are wearing the Creamsicles and the Burger King alarm clock uni’s is?
It can’t be very good so why go back to that trash? I don’t get it.

Man I was glad to see those go and had hoped to NEVER see them again. Makes me think of all the losing and being laughed at when I would tell people who my favorite team was. Never really thought of them as a fan favorite maybe I was wrong.

The Orange was alot better than the those mostly white Road Togs they wore during multiple 20+ game losing streaks on the Road. Yeah thats right multiple 20+ loss road game streaks that we as fans had to endure during the “original Lost Decade” of the beginning mid 1980’s.
I for one was so glad in 1997 when the Bucs the changed to a Buc version of the Tampa Bay Bandits uniforms, which were Red and silver and black when they played from 1982-85.
And I am thankful they went back to the Solid Red tops again. It is cool to to see the orange tops again for select games, but please, never wear those mostly white with orange and red numbers and trim “Road Togs “again. Exhibit “A” for those lousy unis is the Rolaids commercial of when the Bucs played in the “1985 snow bowl” beatdown the Packers put on the Bucs on the “Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field”
