Bucs Will Play (Burn) A Home Game In Germany

It’s official. Our beloved Buccaneers will play one home game in Germany in 2022.
Who they will play is yet to be determined. But it will be an official Tampa Bay home game, so the Bucs will play eight at The Licht House this season rather than nine.
Joe hates losing a home game for the home fans, but Joe is thinking road trip.
Most likely, the game will be played in October to avoid late fall or winter snow in Munich. So the Bucs will get a late bye week on the following Sunday.

Any NFL team who is forced to play a (home) game in a foreign country should be compensated with a draft pick. At least a 4th rounder.

Makes the hard schedule harder but if it was the home Chiefs game, it was likely a loss anyway at home, unless a Tampa can hire a QB whom can compete v. a top 5 QB.

Unless the Bucs can land a top QB, they should just use this as a clean-up year. Start Trask, clean up the cap (just make sure you resign Godwin and Whitehead), don’t sign anyone so you get a bunch of comp picks, and after the Bucs go 3-14 they’ll have maybe the #1 in the draft, or close to it. Then trade back, sign a real QB in FA or trade for a vet, and we’re in good shape for 2023 and beyond.
Worst case scenario would be something stupid like trying to keep the team together, restructuring a bunch of deals to push cap hits to next year and beyond, then having Gabbert as the QB, ending the season 6-11, not fixing the cap, not getting the comp picks, still have no idea what you got in Trask.

Arians is in the Bill Belichek conundrum. He wants to be seen as great couch post Brady, but he doesn’t have the QB or cap space unless GM wants to spend a lot. Bill flopped year 1 post Brady, and he invested 151m in cap in one season to built a super defense and add weapons and draft a first round QB.
With all that he made it in as a wild card one and done embarrassment for NE standard.
BA returning to coach a low tier QB will look worse than Bill in 2020. So he has to get a franchise caliber starter.

Yeah, I don’t disagree with you at all, which is why it’s so odd that Arians didn’t retire. If they can’t trade for a top QB, I’m still not ruling out that he suddenly has ‘health issues’ that will mean he steps away from coaching for a year, which is nice way of saying he’s retiring. Then you like promote Bowles, although I don’t know how eager he’d be to pilot a 3-14 team.

The only conceivable stronger starters Tampa can get are Watson Mayfield or Carr or Cousins, which require picks and spending lots of cash on 40m/y salaries.
Sounds like Wilson and AR are set on what they are doing and it’s not Tampa. And Winston will return to Saints.
Wentz or Jimmy are options too.

All about the coin. Certain teams like the Jags, Bucs and Raiders sell home games for the coin while others like the Pats, Cowboys and Chiefs seem to only travel overseas or to Mexico as the road team. Some owners want the win, others want the coin so guess where the Glazer lads fall? Heck, maybe they read the tea leaves and penciled the game in as a loss and simply went for the cash grab.

Maybe this is a dumb question but why can’t the league just find a way to make it an away game for both teams? It seems stupid to force a team to play overseas with all that entails and then strip them of a vital home game to boot.
