Bruce Arians Lashes Out At Media Claims Of Tom Brady Being Down On Him
February 19th, 2022So let Joe get this straight.
Bucco Bruce Arians was silent after national reports from huge media names — Peter King, Colin Cowherd, Seth Wickersham, Albert Breer and Adam Schefter — regarding Tom Brady retiring, in part, because he was down on Arians’ coaching methods and the front office’s ability to retain talent in 2022.
Instead, Arians lashes out today after a relative unknown former NFL player turned sports radio guy, Rich Ohrnberger out of San Diego, spewed similar shots with a little more detail yesterday.
Arians told the Tampa Bay Times that it’s all a bunch of nonsense.
“It seems like there’s one (story) every day now,’’ Arians said. “Everybody is speculating he’s going somewhere else. That don’t bother me. This other bulls—, the relationship thing, that’s so far-fetched.’’
Ohrnberger was clear on his radio show that he got his information “talking to a guy who’s pretty embedded with the Bucs.” (The former Patriots, Chargers and Cardinals guard was a college teammate, roommate and draft classmate of Bucs assistant coach and 2020 center A.Q. Shipley.)
Bucs fans can catch up via the links above, though the Times is a pay-per-view site.
Arians seemed particularly perturbed about details he said didn’t add up, like him using a red writing implement to nix plays in weekly gameplans worked on by Brady and offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich.
Interestingly, the Times report claims Arians was “advised” not to respond to all the chatter that Brady soured on Arians, but the head coach couldn’t take it any longer.
Joe would advise Arians never to listen to those who advise him to sit back and tolerate direct and false attacks on his reputation.
And maybe next time he could ask his good, retired (?) friend Brady to set the record straight with a short sentence on one of his social media accounts.

Other than if Brady will come back, who gives a sh!t.
February 19th, 2022 at 9:54 pm
Im tired hearing about Brady period!!!!
February 19th, 2022 at 10:00 pm
They need sh!t to write about now that the GOAT is gone and football is done for 6 months, that’s all there is to it. All nonsense and fake news. Glad Arians came out firing and put these snakes in their place! That’s why I respect the hell out of the man!
February 19th, 2022 at 10:01 pm
The greatest coat rider of all time seems to be losing his cool, like he is nervous, nervous that he will soon be exposed for the mediocre coach that he is.
February 19th, 2022 at 10:05 pm
Unless Brady himself confirms it, it’s speculation. However, there is smoke, and possibly fire. It was a tough season full of dissension, problems, clashes and bad feelings. Go back every week and connect dots. Check Brady’s body language.
Ohrnberger’s take seems more feasible than many others.
What was refreshing for Brady in season one deteriorated in season two, and you could see it week to week, culminating with Antonio’s nude jumping jacks.
Brady is the most intense, nastiest competitor and stickler. He and Michael Jordan are of the same type, and that rare intensity strains relationships in every direction.
Does Arians deny that he red-lined the plays? Is it far-fetched to think what Brady initially found refreshing and fun stopped being fun, when it couldn’t sustain, and he got tired of sloppiness, poor focus, lack of discipline and flat-out bad coaching?
February 19th, 2022 at 10:10 pm
Man it will be nice when this blowhard retires and we don’t have to hear him anymore. TampaBay is gratefull for TB12 not Arians coaching. No Super Bowl without Tom Brady.
February 19th, 2022 at 10:15 pm
We are spoiled having had the Brady experience, and the standards set by simply having him. Take away Brady’s presence and influence, and what do you have?
It’s a completely different team without him. What moves are going to be made will be in Arians’ image, not Brady’s.
If it is Arians/BL/TB, then for how long?
February 19th, 2022 at 10:18 pm
It took Belicheat 20 years, what bruce arrogance accomplished in 2 years, and that was too run Brady out of town.

February 19th, 2022 at 10:37 pm
For what it’s worth, Arians attacks the minutia but not the core of the story, that he overrode the game plans.
February 19th, 2022 at 11:10 pm
PassingThru Says:
February 19th, 2022 at 10:37 pm
Not really. In the Times article, he said he didn’t delete things from the game plan, although he sometimes added things, noting that “they did a great job” and there was great collaboration. Now, he’s either lying, or delusional, or the rumor is BS. I’m leaning towards the rumor being BS like most NFL rumors this time of year.
But, those who don’t like Arians will be inclined to think he’s lying or delusional.
February 19th, 2022 at 11:10 pm
Just like the sands of the hour glass, these are the days of our lives.
February 19th, 2022 at 11:26 pm
Arians butthurt…
February 19th, 2022 at 11:34 pm
As a Bucs fan I am grateful to Brady for coming to the Bucs two years ago and winning a Super Bowl! Its been a fun ride! That being said I’ve lost some respect for him now that he dumps us because we are no longer the perfect situation with us having so many free agents. Especially if he unretires to go to the next perfect situation. I thought he was better than that. Being the GOAT he should want to prove he doesn’t need a perfect situation to win. I’m not buying his sudden decision to retire was solely family related.

There is years of odd ball relationship issues between Tom and Bill. Attempted Trade of Gronk early to Detroit, the benching of Malcolm Butler in a SB game, Never once catching a meal or doing something outside the office other than official team events parties. The Jimmy G draft attempt to replace him while
Tom was still actively winning multiple SB year after year. The barring of Alex Guerrero Toms lifetime coach from the team areas. Tom forced to train in sky box’s so he could use the space and trainer he wanted. The horrible drafting of weapons beyond Gronk, and Edelman for 20y. Tom rightly so felt a 9x super bowl appearance should have meant NE would let him play till the end like Ben or Brees, and actually build a team which could win.
But as we know Bill always moved on from players a few years early, so he never paid a premium for a aging star.
The attempt force Tom out into FA and him going to Tampa and winning SB right away was insane.
Tom Brady would never publicly bash BA, Tampa or anyone on the team. He would never confirm a rumour which may or may not be true that would impact his ability to return or get traded and do business with Tampa.
If he was asked the day after the Rams loss he would’ve said love the coaches and teammates etc.
He hasn’t really ever even thrown any shade at NE publicly when he clearly was angry at RKK and Bill since 2020 at some level. As he smart about business and his public appearance.
Tom wanted to beat New England in New England more than winning the SB this season.
That how bad he wanted to get back at Bill. He even retired and only to Thank Tampa including a thank you to BA, until NE and RKK took a fit.
Tom in the end is someone who needs chip, and the biggest chip a guy who wins 6 titles and has 400m dollar can have, is to feel he was treated badly by a coach and owner both father figures whom, he help make into a multi time billionaire, and other help the other one take a losing coach to the greatest of all time coach.
Bill Belichick’s record without Tom Brady including 2021:
Regular Season: 70-78
Playoffs: 1-2
Total: 71-80
He got back at RKK and Bill in early 2021 winning the SB and beating NE at home.
Because of that he lost some fire as he did everything he wanted, he made sure everyone knew who was at least partly or mostly responsible for 21 years of wins.
At this point he did it all, so he will need a new chip, and new reason to keep playing if he will return. And a fight with BA is it. The only way Tom can confirm any conflict is if he actually returns and seeks to leave while under contract or he seek to renegotiate cap hit to allow for his release this year. Leaving that option open, did a mid season return elsewhere.
February 19th, 2022 at 11:49 pm
A fight with BA isn’t it i meant to say
February 19th, 2022 at 11:53 pm
Sorry but I truly feel Arians ego is huge and hurt. For so long he said how he was hands off but now is calling plays. But also was overwriting what BL and Tom were game planning. Throw in the attitude in the press conference where he said he’s coming back and if Brady returns that’s up to him. I truly think BA is over everyone giving the majority of the Super Bowl win to Tom. Add in LVD talking about turmoil within and the timing of Evans saying when he could tell retirement was possible it all adds up. Brady will play again. But not for the Bucs he will try to go to San Fran. Now if the bucs can trade the rights for a high draft pick for Watson trade fuel do it. Or if BA needs to go to get Brady back do it! Hire BL as head coach then maybe Brady comes back.
February 19th, 2022 at 11:56 pm
A Head Coach doesn’t have the right to change a play ? Seems like a lot of people are so pissed because Brady is retiring or not, that they are looking for any and all scapegoats. All I Know for sure is that Arians had a very good offense everywhere he has been. It was pretty good before Tom Brady got here , the biggest problem was Jameis kept giving the ball the other guys.
Why we get past the rumor mill and stick to the facts?
One thing I haven’t seen covered here in spite of all the other rumors . Mike Evans was on Larry Brown sporting news and said that he tried to calm down
AB down because they had a relationship. AB was complaining about not getting the rock, and not because of his ankle. Evans also stated they
were both on snap counts. In the words of Joe Friday on the old dragnet
show “Just the facts mam , just the facts” .
with AB s

what if:
maybe arians should step down…so brady can step up…

We all know Brady called Licht and to let him know that he had not yet made his mind about up retiring.
We all know Brady was lying.

tom is coming back san fran next season superbowl champ 8 rings
February 20th, 2022 at 12:54 am
ok so the tampa bay blackaneers have a real problem…
yes there is now a “black eye” developing on the franchise that the team knows about, us hardcore fans know about, and the media is starting to get good wind of…
the basic football fan base and general sports fans have not heard much of the tension or so called “turmoil” within the franchise – as lavonte david so acutely brought to the surface in a succinct sentence a few weeks back…
so tom brady and bruce arians are in a “mexican stand off”…like in a clint eastwood movie…yet these guys are not all dusty, smelly and in the o.k. corral with water canteen in hand…
this tex mex standoff, (without chipotle burritos), is happening from posh sprawling mansions between georgia and florida, as these barons lamp poolside while flipping filet mignon patties and cry to their wives about each other …
tom might want bruce gone, but would probably like the entire staff otherwise to remain the same…
bruce seemingly and quietly wants tom gone so he can retain his kung fu grip on his power position within the franchise…
with tom there is he is quickly turning to mush…
essentially these 2 are quietly fighting over power…
so who do you let walk…
at this point BA seems to have chased tom away like belichik did…
tom has 2-5 years left in him (5 could be a real stretch, most likely 2-3)…
bruce has maybe 1-3 years left in him…
so, do you really keep a short stay coach over a short stay goat…
the ball is in the glazers court in the end…
tom probably made his demands to the glazers already and we are all waiting to see the next chess move…
it’s like a mexican stand off than can quickly become chinese checkers…
maybe the building is too big for both of them…
i already know who you give walking papers too, but i’m not saying sh!t
February 20th, 2022 at 12:55 am
Jason will get to the bottom of any of the nonsense if any of it has a kernel of truth. Most importantly, Bucs own Brady’s rights and aren’t going to disadvantage themselves by just giving him to the team he wants. His unretiring would be best for the Bucs in any scenario.
February 20th, 2022 at 12:55 am
@Jim W:
oh wow just reading your post now…
so people are starting to process this type of thought…not just me
February 20th, 2022 at 12:56 am
The way arians handle the jamies situation i was done. No place for a head coach to be in. Then lenny. Then rojo. Then AB. Then adams smack in the head. Then brady ?
Too many on arians.
February 20th, 2022 at 12:59 am
Glad to hear him say that. It’s not Brady’s style but I would love for him to come out and say something too.
All the talking heads who are throwing crap at a wall to see what sticks and do absolutely no real journalism or investigative reporting, are full of it. 90% of all the sports talking heads are just like most people on MSNBC and CNN, they speculate to get people to watch. Real journalism is virtually dead
February 20th, 2022 at 1:02 am
Adrnagy
You should probably clarify. BA handled diva, quitter AB perfectly.
He has handled Rojo perfectly because, as everyone who’s paying attention has found out, Rojo is a sensitive, immature player who can’t handle the slightest bit of stress, pressure, or criticism.
Lenny? What are you even talking about there? Adams… Are you serious?
He is the best coach this team has ever had, yes that includes Gruden and Dungy.
February 20th, 2022 at 1:06 am
The comments on here from a bunch of people are absolutely insane. This truly is one of the worst fan bases in the NFL. The greatest two-year stretch in buccaneer history, which includes a Super Bowl, and suddenly these ignorant fans on here are trying to run the best coach this organization has ever had out of town. LOL. UNREAL
No wonder they have sucked since the last Super Bowl 20 years ago. The Glazer‘s must’ve been listening to these pseudo-fans and just getting a new coach every 2-3 years. Absolutely ridiculous
Thank God BA and BL and Bowles are staying
February 20th, 2022 at 1:13 am
Lotta dumbassery here.
There’s still no evidence Brady retired for any reason other than it was time. There’s no actual evidence that he’s coming back. All the talk is 100% speculation… Totally empty nonsense.
Don’t be gullible.
February 20th, 2022 at 1:17 am
david –
there is a tex mex stand off going on in tampa between BA and TB…
they are hiding behind tailgate tents and tossing avacado encased buritos at each other like children of the corn
February 20th, 2022 at 1:36 am
Careful David – you’ll be cast out for such talk.
February 20th, 2022 at 1:56 am
Fire ba, prompt bl, tb comes back.
Where there’s smoke there’s fire.
February 20th, 2022 at 1:56 am
*promote
February 20th, 2022 at 2:06 am
There’s no smoke, just BS.
February 20th, 2022 at 2:06 am
Also – David I agree with 110% of what you wrote. The prevailing opinion (maybe not the majority but certainly the ultra loud minority) is a bunch of loud conjecture objecting to a leader making tough decisions including behavioral related. And the mob knows it all even though they have no solid facts. They take a piece from some old New England offensive guard who has made false claims about the Patriots organization and Patrick Mahomes and give it gospel treatment.
Not all of us are insane, but it’s getting hard to find even balanced perspective.
February 20th, 2022 at 2:36 am
Patriots fan: how immense is your hubris to imagine we would read such a ponderous tome?
February 20th, 2022 at 2:38 am
In BA we trust.
February 20th, 2022 at 2:50 am
So you’re a valuable high powered professional with an insane work ethic and super intensity. You leave a long-time position at a great but stuffy company for a job at a fun one in a fun new city. The bosses are good-humored and a refreshing change, your co-workers are young and eager. Everyone gets along, and for one year, it’s a honeymoon. Everything feels new, people get along, productivity is surprisingly high.
Then all of the things that you thought were fun start getting in the way. You notice your bosses’ faults and lapses more and more. They were always there, but they’re getting worse. One is a drunk, the others are undermining your work directly and indirectly. Your co-workers start getting lazy, making more mistakes and they stop listening to you. A few go nuts. Productivity starts falling. You make the best of it, with less and less support and cooperation, but you feel isolated. They depend on you to save the company, too many times. Suddenly it’s not so fun anymore.
It was a great run, but you are burned out and you’re retirement age. Time to hang it up.
Is this so hard to understand?
February 20th, 2022 at 3:00 am
Anybody that believes this story must have also been believers in Y2K and 2012, and disappointed that we’re all still here after they blew their life savings.
The same guy who fabricated this story just got blasted for completely faking the recent story on Patrick Mahomes and his crazy gf and entitled prick brother. Next thing you know you guys will believe that AB was the good guy…
Oh wait
February 20th, 2022 at 3:07 am
NEPatsFan, you are correct regarding the history, and Brady’s psyche. His chippiness is at the root of his intense drive, and it makes for nasty head butting. In the sunset of his playing career, with limited time left, why wouldn’t he want everything exactly his way for the few performances he has left, regardless of the chain of command? We don’t know for a fact that he has issues with Arians, but it is more than plausible.
Brady did not come across like a happy man for most of this season. Hopefully we’ll hear more about it some day.
February 20th, 2022 at 3:15 am
well done steele good food for though — thought being the operative word — lacking mostly around here
February 20th, 2022 at 3:45 am
steele:
it’s plausible…but there is a slight chance it is pliable 🙂
#pliability
what if BA and TB have a meeting in an ice tub…tom will feel uber pliable afterwards, and bruce can keep an ice cold sixer on his lap during the whole meeting to guzzle…
#GuzzabilityAndPliability
February 20th, 2022 at 6:32 am
All BS. Especially you asshats making comments for which you have no proof. There suddenly seems to be a slew of non-Bucs fans on this site slamming BA. I would not doubt most of you are the same person. Go ahead and dump on the Bucs. But do it somewhere else.
February 20th, 2022 at 7:09 am
Most of the NFL are going with young coaches its time for this old bag of wind retire and turn the keys over to Byron L.
February 20th, 2022 at 7:15 am
AB quit…..gotta blame someone other than AB
Brady retires….gotta blame someone other than Brady.
This is typical media driven speculation…..controversy sells.
Don’t be fooled into falling prey.
February 20th, 2022 at 7:24 am
BA lends credibility to all this type thing by even answering these questions. He needs to shut the fcck up but just can’t do it. You can’t have both. Claim to be a players coach then throw guys under the bus like he does. Drama kills all organizations unless your an Instagram model.
February 20th, 2022 at 7:24 am
Good for Arians and I don’t care why Brady retired. He got what he wanted and so did we, kinda like a one night stand.
February 20th, 2022 at 8:20 am
Ok sorry BA’s spouting off is just that spouting off. He also never lied about the AB debacle. I read some of your post that claim Brady is hard to work with. If that’s true why did last 20 yrs under one of the known tyrant coaches in the league, while being under paid? All he was asking for was a 2 yr contract for $50M, the same that Brees was getting. They offered one yr $14 M, he said go F yourself. Who can blame him for that? He also spent the last two seasons changing the culture of this organization while working with a HC and OC that run one of the most basic obsolete offenses in the league. When they worked. He spent a LOT of his time doing their jobs. Bottom line is, if there isn’t a rebuttal from TB12 then he either could care less what the media writes, keep in mind this isn’t his first rodeo or some of it is true. The truth will bare its ugly face soon enough. Why hasn’t BL said anything?
February 20th, 2022 at 8:22 am
adam^ your an idiot.. sorry Love tom, thanks for the memories, lets hold his contract and trade him to san fran for draft pics. Lets go big for watson!! trade what we need to trade to get this kid.. these hoes just want money.. hes a generational talent… lets get watson
February 20th, 2022 at 8:49 am
If you looked at TB’s body language and attitude all the way back to training camp last year.. you could see he was aggravated as $hit.
He expected more from the staff and players in year two and he didn’t get it. If he had eed be on our way to 3 SBs in a row.
There’s more truth to this story than not.
February 20th, 2022 at 10:08 am
Arians: “the relationship thing, that’s so far-fetched.’’
That’s not even a denial, much less ‘lashing out’.
February 20th, 2022 at 10:15 am
Time to fire Arians and start fresh with new coaches and young players. The last time a team repeated as SB champs was the Patriots 15 years ago. It didn’t happen in Tampa and it’s time to move on.
February 20th, 2022 at 10:31 am
Why would Brady go to the 49ers a team whose coach has lost every big game he ever coached in? A running team? This idea that Brady walks on water is really getting old. He is not omnipotent. He is one big hit away from forced retirement. Brady didn’t lead the comeback against the Rams, it was the Rams turnovers mostly caused by the Buccaneers defense and a great call by BL. Look I admire and respect Brady but this narrative that he was the whole team is absurd. BA was a top offensive coordinator for years and was a winner at Indianapolis and Arizona. His offense always has been among the best in the league. His players love to play with him. Football is a team sport.
February 20th, 2022 at 10:40 am
Ya Buddha, BL threw the pass to Evan’s and moved the ball down the field by hitting Miller while getting his head ripped off. Someone had to get them in scoring position. But maybe you’re right all 10 SB’s were coincidences and the 7 rings are just a fluke. Enjoy the next losing season.
February 20th, 2022 at 10:57 am
It was telling, I saw a clip in the locker room after a regular season game.
Not a playoff or SB. A player comes up behind BA and dumps a large cup of Gatorade on his head, in front of the whole locker room. What kind of respect does that show the team has for it’s head coach ?
Now for something amusing: AB for President in 2024. He can do a
better job than Joe Biden !
February 20th, 2022 at 11:29 am
BA has always been a straight shooter… NO BS!! I believe him!!!!! Like I did about AB!!! In case you’re not aware… Mike Evans recently verified B.A.s version of what went down with AB’s departure!!
February 20th, 2022 at 11:51 am
There’s a lot of dumbassery here.
February 20th, 2022 at 12:06 pm
Seriously, enuf is enuf. Can’t blame Arians. All this gossip is like an old hens’ gossip session. Reputable journalism is a thing of the past.
February 20th, 2022 at 1:23 pm
Mike Evans Feb 18 interview on AB fallout
Evans confirmed Brown was agitated with not getting the ball. Brown, who had five targets and three catches for 26 yards against the Jets before leaving, was 28 catches, 255 receiving yards and three touchdowns from meeting $2 million in incentives.
“What I remember is we were trying to get him to come back in the game,” Evans told Harmon. “He was saying he wanted the rock, and rightfully so. We should have gotten him the rock. He’s an unbelievable player. But I was like, ‘Yo, come in the game, AB.’ So we were asking him to come in the game. We were on offense. I’m like, ‘AB, big bro, come on, let’s go in the game. They’re calling for us.’ Because me and him are both on a pitch count, because we’re both coming back from injury. So I’m trying to get him to come in the game, and he doesn’t come. So I go back on the drive. I do my two plays. I come out. I see BA (Arians) still trying to get him come in the game, and they had a falling out somehow. AB goes off, and he’s about to take his pads off. I’m trying to grab his pads and tell him like, ‘Yo, big bro. . . .’ because me and him have a relationship. I don’t want him to go out like this. Like, obviously we need him, so I’m telling him, ‘Big bro, we need you. The season’s almost over. If you don’t want to be here, the next year you can leave.’ Obviously, I just didn’t want him to go out like that. So I’m telling him, ‘Please don’t go out like this.’ They’re calling me to go back in the game, so I just left him alone.”
February 20th, 2022 at 1:27 pm
Infoplease, where did Evan’s confirm BA’s story and which story? He had two. Please tell me you are that naive to believe BA because he is well known for fabricating many of his stories.
February 20th, 2022 at 1:33 pm
70% of his earnings road on getting touches the final two weeks as AB was on a near veteran minimum contract or 1.4m plus bonuses and his injury and coupled with suspension, made getting that bonus potentially unlikely. This is why prior to the Jets game agent and team wanted 1m guaranteed of bonus, like was publicly stated they would for Gronk a week later irrespective of hitting targets or near miss on targets.
AB felt his value for the teams success was equivalent to the value of Gronk or Godwin and felt disrespected they wouldn’t guarantee his bonus because he had a bad relationship with BA. So a hot head and ego cost the Bucs a Super Bowl because we under appreciated a player whom would’ve been 30% of our offense in the playoffs with CG hurt.
February 20th, 2022 at 1:38 pm
NE PATS, obviously Evan’s wasn’t near when BA told him to get the F out of here and Brown claiming he’s injured. Either way BA handled it wrong and should of just let AB sit there and sulk. Don’t add fuel to the fire. Lack of professionalism on both parties.
February 20th, 2022 at 1:42 pm
And he ran off the field and instead of quickly resolving the issue, he was stated to be off team in interview post game, and then the team leaked the only fans story which was real to further destroy his bad reputation. And as a result we lost a WR1/2 and cost Tampa a win over Rams, which then cost Tampa Bay Tom Brady as he is only playing for SB, not near misses.
February 20th, 2022 at 2:10 pm
In response to BA rebuttal, Rich Ohrnberger Defends ‘Impregnable’ Sources About Tom Brady, Bruce Arians Rumors.
Why are so many media going in on a bald faced lie? Yeah one two story’s sure but prior to SB and after every single day Disney, Fox, NFL network and NE media has spent more time on TBs non retirement and speculation where he goes next than Rams or Cinci coverage.
I could if it was week 1 of 2022 and people wanted Tom to play for a QB needy team. But he was gone a day and they stories of returning started non stop.
February 20th, 2022 at 3:31 pm
GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!!
February 20th, 2022 at 4:10 pm
So BA is a no BS guy and always speaks the truth and everything we read is false like Giselle wanting Brady to stop playing and it was the players fault they weren’t lined up correctly on the 2nd to last play of the Rams game and Windfileds lack of execution covering Kupp was.his fault and because the offense didn’t score 30 points in both halves they lost and Brady just decided one week after the season to call it quits. He was simply burnt out and wanted to watch his nanny drive his kids to school. I guess I can buy that.
February 20th, 2022 at 4:50 pm
The one to end this is Brady. The fan base is growing irritated at the daily rumors. It seems that certain big name writers have the stage with their noise. A simple statement by Brady would end this. I’m waiting………
February 21st, 2022 at 7:44 am
Me thinks the lady doth protest too much.” Look at Brady’s body language, the man was gone. The frustration was beyond obvious especially in the Rams game which I’ve never seen that in him ever. Kidding yourself if one doesn’t think Arians wasn’t a factor. Insecure egomaniac Bruce. Nothing new with the latter sadly.
