Have Bucs Fans Become Spoiled?

February 19th, 2022

Winning at home.

One reason Bucs fans are so depressed over Tom Brady retiring (?) is that the past two years seemed so short, and that Brady may have left a lot on the table when he walked away (?), possibly including another Super Bowl run.

Man, how things changed so quickly in these parts.

Bucs fans for the longest time paid good, hard-earned money to get kicked in the balls damn near every home game. It was the worst! Lousy Lovie Smith even made sure that Bucs fans never saw one damn home win for a whole friggin’ year.

And before Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians came to town, the Bucs had the absolute worst home record in the NFC in the post-Chucky era. That’s how bad it was.

All flipped when Brady parachuted in.

The Bucs won eight home games last year, including playoffs. For the most part, they were dominant at home and only once in their two home losses did they lose by more than one score.

So Bucs fans got their money’s worth in the stadium last year. Actually, the past two years.

Joe sure hopes that trend doesn’t snap with Brady gone (?).

Joe couldn’t outright call Bucs fans spoiled because of the winning the past couple of years. But Joe will say Bucs fans are now conditioned to winning.

Finally.

The players are conditioned for winning too, as well as the coaches. I doubt we retract back into the hole we once were. Solid core of players and coaches still.

Bucs fans becoming spoiled? If any fans have become spoiled these days it’s all the Boston fans because they’ve gotten to the point now where they just expect it now. After all those years of the Patriots & between the Red Sox, Celtics & Bruins they don’t know what it’s like to struggle anymore. They just expect all them to make the playoffs all the time & win & when they don’t win they whine because they’ve gotten so used to it all.

If im licht. Im signing winston and gilmore.
Trask can learn from the do’s and dont from winston. And the already saw brady.
Dean and smb can learn from gilmore vs sherman.

And gives more cal to sign godwin. Fournette. Cappa. Whitehead and others.

We win division and you never know.

We appreciate finally winning whereas they’ve gotten spoiled with it because if they ever start losing it would be like the end of the world for them.

Please enough Jameis talk … where were you during the 5,000 yards passing and 30 INT’s I rather roll with Trask than Winston. Remember, if Trask was coming out this year, he’d be the number one pick!!! Get Jimmy GQ or Cousins so Kyle has a real shot in year three, if not, we wasted a second rounder!! And we have a history of bad second round picks although I still believe Trask will be better than Mac and Cheese with the Belicheats.

Judging from the sample size lately, it sure smells like it.

  8. Jerry R Jones Says:

We were spoiled to have him, any team would’ve been.

  9. Bird Says:

    Ummmmmmm

Of course we have become spoiled. Really
    The goat

Its amazing. Typical same lil b s
Thought it was the offense / no running game/ no defense etc etc every year excuse. Same team besides wimfield And wirfs

    The goat brought the studs
For two years we were tops
No injuries and we win the whole thing
Epic two years and peeps hated brady
    Talk about some dumb fooks

Talking about jameis too. Good lord. The worst

I’m not depressed about our Bucs! I expect to be able to get some tickets to some home games this year.

I am just a lowly fan who really can live without the expense of season tickets and enjoy many of our games on a big screen somewhere.

    Go Bucs!

  12. August 1976 Buc Says:

The way some post on this blog, spoiled is an understatement, more like entitlement lol
T Brady was the Great stench eradicator for the Bucs beloved Licht House.
It looks like stormy seas on the horizon for the good ship Buccaneer, but hey there is 2 Lombardis now at 1 Buc Palace.
So no matter what happens, the Bucs have still won 2 Championships.
So it was totally worth Brady coming no matter how it looks now, with all the uncertainty because of the lack of a proven winner at the QB position.
Yeah the road is bumpy, but whatever life goes on, and so will the Bucs.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  13. steele Says:

Not spoiled, but enlightened by the Brady experience, which, for a brief moment, had everyone and everything pointed towards excellence. This focus unfortunately cracked after winning the SB, and, try as Brady did, it didn’t sustain enough to get them a second one.

Without Brady, Arians doesn’t foster that kind of discipline and intensity. It might be another brand of football, but nothing like the last two seasons will happen again with TB12.

  14. T REX Says:

    Not spoiled…delusional.

Brady is the only reason we were contenders.

Wake up. This team is a loser without him.

    He’s that good. DENIAL….

  15. Winny Testavwede Says:

Spoiled? Perhaps a little…but Joe said it…”how quickly things in these parts changed”. From feeling good following the convincing win over Philly…to the goat show ( no pun intended ) for 3.5 quarters + final 40 seconds shat show. Now Brady is not only gone but it sounds like everything has soured since. Reports on the daily of he doesn’t necessarily want to be “single”…he just no longer wants to play for the Bucs. This will go on through the summer and fall
as well. There will be a showdown…and it will get even uglier. Spoiled? Or teased then disappointed/crushed?

also if BA while getting rehab on the achilles, and basically seeming zoned out most of the time – came in to red “pen” flag all that these guys conjured up, he was straight ego trippin’ and trying to show them who’s the boss at the wrong time…not cool if true…

these bullish type “belichikian” moves are just what got brady to bounce on out of new england…

i always wondered if BA’s ego might get the best of him at some point – with tom likely having things running smoothly on easy street…

if BA flinched and buckled, he fugged up real real bad…

    we will prolly never know…

i hope all this isn’t true because if you combine this so called “red pen issue” with the famous “bowles last 30 seconds” fiasco, you see why tommy flew the coop

  18. Defense Rules Says:

Not usually a big fan of ‘speculation’ but yesterday’s JBF article titled ‘Former Brady Teammate Reports Arians-Brady Relationship Was “Souring” … IF true … really got me thinking because it explains a LOT. And not just about why Tom Brady chose to leave the Bucs and retire.

No, as much as anything else it gives a plausible explanation for why the 2021 Bucs, who dominated record-wise with a 13-4 season, started so slowly in a number of key games last season (and most specifically our last playoff game against the Rams).

Questions arise in my mind like ‘Was Bruce Arians on such an ego trip that he ended up sabotaging game plans that MIGHT have gotten us off to faster starts?’ As stated in that article … ‘Arians would walk in and red line and put the red pen to all of the work that Brady and Leftwich had done’. IF that’s true (and we don’t know that it is), it could explain why our offense got off to such slow starts in so many games with Tom Brady at the helm.

So many other questions though come to mind IF that’s true. Supposing we go out in the weeks ahead and sign a super-expensive QB, but Arians does the same thing to him? ‘My way or the highway’ doesn’t work well with QBs like Watson, and it obviously doesn’t do much to help bring along young QBs either.

Oh and for Swamparse: How do you even know that Bowles called that full blitz on that last play? The play before that he only rushed 3. MAYBE it was Arians calling for the blitz who overrode Bowles? After all, he overrode Tom Brady & Byron Leftwich consistently IF the above is true. And have you noticed that none of the team’s players or coaches have said ANYTHING about that last play-call OR about what was REALLY going on out on the field? Nada; it’s all been speculation from the media’s talking heads.

Yup, conspiracy theories can get REALLY ugly.

  19. Defense Rules Says:

Adam from NY … Looks like we were thinking about the same thing at the same time. Didn’t get to see yours until after I pushed ‘Submit Comment’ on mine. Interesting.

  20. gotbbucs Says:

Spoiled enough to have delusions of grandeur. I would say this definitely defines the head coach. That moron thinks he’s a made man now that’s untouchable.

As for the fans, I think far too many now think winning the Super Bowl is a piece of cake and any good QB added to this team will bring us back there.

Baby steps, let’s try to learn to be excited to be in the playoff picture at the end of December again, and then we’ll go from there.

  21. Barbosa Says:

Not spoiled at all. It will take 8 more years of winning football just to get back to .500 and equal the lost decade.

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Of course Buc fans are spoiled……….but, I think we now have some realistic expectations knowing that it will be very difficult to afford a top-tier QB & keep most of our FAs……we know we face a tough schedule.

On the flip side, more spoiled are the Saints fans……imagine…..Drew Brees…winning the division every year…..and now…no QB….way, way over the cap and Sean Payton dumps them……how sweet it is to see other fans more miserable.

  23. ModHairKen Says:

Scared. Not spoiled. There’s nothing worse than a 2-6 start and talking about draft picks in October. Even when Dungy was here, there were plenty of seasons when 10 games in, the playoffs were very uncertain.

People now look back on the firing of Dungy and it has this aura of a racial component to the unknowing. We were here. Dungy was black when he was hired. And was fired after a winning season. And he was still black. But Gruden was also fired after going 9-7 two years in a row. The Glazers fired Gruden to keep Morris. They later hired Lovie Smith. To be completely honest, I don’t think race has ever played a role in the Glazers decisions.

Sorry for the sidetrack, but that needs to be said in this era of the Flores suit.

  24. rriddler Says:

No season ticket holder is spoiled after two great years. We’re appreciative of the two great years after enduring so much bad football for the prior 12 years or so.

  25. Listnfrmafar Says:

DR, correction the play before the blitz was a 4 man rush and man to man with SMB covering Kupp (foolish). Steele is 100% correct in his post. As far as Boston fans expectations of winning is absolutely true, it’s hard to swallow the losing pill if your accustom to winning. What’s sad is that Bucs winning has brought out some real low lives on this site, especially the disrespectful, chauvinist, archaic, womanizer, dbag swamparse or swampanizer.

  26. Listnfrmafar Says:

BA is.bring the house down that Brady built. DR, I doubt BA overruled Bowles because he blitzed multiple times all game. Could there have been deliberation which slowed down transferring the call to the players which then explains why Rams acted so quickly in snapping the ball, they saw confusion.

  27. allbuccedup Says:

T Rex well said. BA will retire after this year when this team wins 6 or 7 games. I don’t know who are the conditioning coaches are on this team but they need to get reevalated far too many injuries.

  28. Niles Says:

I don’t know about spoiled, but I do know many are stupid. To say a kid cannot play before he’s played is supreme stupidity. And ignorance of NFL history. And likely bias. And possibly even racism. I believe there is a lot more of the latter than many are willing to acknowledge.

  29. Tony Says:

Supposedly Payton might be coming to replace Arians if he goes next year because Payton was gonna plan on taking next year off & then come back.

  30. Defense Rules Says:

Listnfrmafar … My apologies, you’re right about that 2nd to last play. Bucs had 7 up on the line when the ball was snapped & rushed 4. Stafford dropped back a full 10 yds behind the LOS, and still Vea almost got to him. I didn’t think that Suh was rushing, but he did initially then it looks like he kinda stopped & backed up a little (probably in case Stafford had to scramble?).

Hadn’t seen who missed that initial tackle on Kupp that would’ve kept him in-bounds on that play. It was Mike Edwards. He came soooo close to tripping up Kupp on that play, and keeping him inbounds. Just on those last 3 plays, the Rams were incredibly lucky (Stafford recovering his own fumble, Kupp making that catch & getting out-of-bounds after SMB fell down, and then Kupp making that last catch after Suh came soooo close to sacking Stafford). But football is a game of inches.

  31. Defense Rules Says:

Listnfrmafar … ‘I doubt BA overruled Bowles because he blitzed multiple times all game.’

You’re probably right because blitzing is what Bowles does. But I still wonder why not a single coach or player has said a word about that last play-call or its execution. There was obvious mass confusion on the field, and that’s something that’s hard to explain that late in the season on a playoff team.

  32. Mike Johnson Says:

Yes we have become spoiled. Winning does that. It is the greatest feeling in the world except for sex. And if we don’t go after a QB? Get use to the old Bucs who use to suck.

  33. Craig Says:

We are not spoiled, but for the price of admission, we have high expectations.

That is too bad because this is a rebuilding year and the money can’t be wasted for a flawed QB. All of the possibilities are flawed, while Trask is flawed only in inexperience, at this point.

  34. Brady follower Says:

Unfortunately the Glazer family chose worthless BA over Brady.
While family issues were important , Mr Worthless was the first to re-up for next year and not a peep out of the owners. I believe Brady would have gone another year except for a worthless head coach and clueless defensive coach.
Brady is a perfectionist and expects and promotes the same from all team members. Mr worthless has tolerated penalties galore , missed tackles and defensive backs who watched the other guy catch the pass for years. Bucs fans deserve better and so do the owners unless they just like seeing their $$$ go down the drain.
Unfortunately the Bucs are going nowhere next year. The Bucs HAD the best quarterback in the league but the owners blew it.

THE BUCS HAVE BA FOR NEXT YEAR!!!!
    ALL IS WELL. !!!!!

  35. Anthony Gironda Says:

After 14 years of lousy draft picks, bad free agent signings, bum head coaches, and losing seasons, Bucs fans deserve to be spoiled.
