Report: Deshaun Watson Has Bucs On His “Radar”

February 16th, 2022
Deshaun Watson

Houston QB Deshaun Watson.

The Bucs are looking for a quarterback. And Texans embattled quarterback Deshaun Watson is looking for a new home. And it seems the two are trying to mind meld.

Over the weekend Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported the Bucs were doing exhaustive research on Watson, who is alleged to have been in some 20 hassles with masseuses. And now it seems Watson may be doing homework on the Bucs. He also has a no-trade clause in his fat contract, so Watson has to approve any deal.

Jeremy Fowler of BSPN reports this morning that Watson is intrigued with the Bucs and the Vikings.

@JFowlerESPN: Deshaun Watson has begun evaluating potential fits for his services in 2022, with #Bucs and #Vikings among teams on his radar.

Joe sees Watson as option No. 1. A top-shelf, young quarterback to grow with the team and to lead it to seasons as contenders for the Super Bowl.

If Jason Licht pulls this off, this would be like winning the lottery twice in three years.

Joe needs another mug of coffee. Morning has been made.

  1. voice of reason Says:

    please yes

  2. David Says:

If they could afford it and he avoids the legal issues, that would be ideal. People forget how young he is. Also, out of sight, out of mind, I think some forget how good he is

  3. Posey99 Says:

Yes, option 1 top shelf for sure. What is the basis of the accusers? l keep reading lewd and indecent acts, so what is that some D pics?

  4. Bird Says:

They need to get with nfl on any potential suspension for spooge gate
Have you read some of the accusations? And its 20 plus i thought
One is having the massager cross state lines to meet in hotel where he released his inner self 😂

  5. Anonymous Says:

Just not sure how he avoids suspension

  6. Mike Says:

Yes, I am onboard with this. Even if he gets suspended for a season, there will be many more after that where he can contribute.

  7. uhmmm Says:

    Dude is a creep.

  8. Robert Says:

    please no…….another jw

I hear he’s available. bring em both in. Better set aside some millions for legal

  9. uhmmm Says:

Allegedly, This dude searched for married masseuse’s then would schedule private sessions with them. All to expose himself and hope they finish the job. Some sort of ego power trip thing. Almost at the level of a serial r@pist

  10. Eric Says:

4800 yds 33tds 7 ints his last year with the Texans.

    And he can run.

Best option out there IF he is eligible to play.

  11. Marine Buc Says:

He is the best QB available… But his $40.4 million price tag is going to be a huge hurdle for the Bucs.

Watson is going to have to agree to restructure his deal if he comes to Tampa.

    This could be interesting.

^^^ Allegedly, this guy believes everything he reads. On the internet. Allegedly, we can all think for ourselves. You know nothing about anything, hilarious.

Hey Deshauns lawyer is in this thread! I am excited to hear exactly what happened from the man with first hand knowledge. Please expound on what actually is going on..

  13. Adrnagy Says:

This year 1st rd. & 3rd. Next year 1st rd, 2nd rd. And throw trask. With arians.

  14. HC Grover Says:

Here we go again. Maybe AB back to for a dynamic duo.

  15. uhmmm Says:

UsedToStaring probably wants AB back too lol

  16. Pewter Power Says:

I don’t believe this for one second. Lovie smith is the head coach and after the way he was fired he will do us no favors whatsoever. He will want a kings ransom and players

  17. tampabuscsbro Says:

I mean people defended Jameis through his…transgressions. This time at least the Talent is worth the baggage.

  18. PassingThru Says:

Of course, Watson wants to come to Tampa Bay. He can almost smell the Orchids of Asia from Tampa.

It’s good that he wants in, it gives Tampa Bay a little leverage no matter who they pursue. In fact, Licht should do his best to have Tampa Bay linked to everyone, everywhere.

  19. Anonymous Says:

We just dealt with AB and now you wanna bring in another headcase who is not a team player and who belongs in jail.

    WTF is wrong with y’all?

  20. Jerry Says:

First off, he’s facing lawsuits involving 22 women and hasn’t been resolved yet. He could be facing suspension.
Second, he hasn’t played in a year. What shape is he in?
Third, the price in draft picks will be massive.

  21. acey Says:

I don’t care if Watson is the next coming of christ, picking up a dude with 20+ allegations of sexual harassment and assault is a no go. We already got burned once picking up talent with baggage, picking up talent with an airplanes worth of baggage would be astronomically stupid.

  22. tampabayallday Says:

would rather sign AB again than go for watson

  23. zzbuc Says:

Let him go to the Vikings and bring Cousins

  24. adam from ny Says:

    get him to tampa…

BA has a huge staff…just add in one more…

hire some designated b*ll dr*iner type to the payroll, and he’s good to go…
(the missing letter is an “a”)

    #TrainersAndDrainers

    🙂

sheesh, i might even schedule a private session if i hear good tings…

    #GoodTings

  25. Cannon Says:

Don’t begrudge a man with a heavy desire for a professional rub n’ tug.

  26. Adrnagy Says:

Case is set to go to the grand jury next week.

Most attorney’s don’t recommend it because typically in Texas the DA’s office has already predetermined your guilt and the Grand Jury is a formality..

18 of the 22 women were ready to settle in october.

  27. snookman Says:

Its not like this franchise has been shied away from qbs involved in sexual assult issues in the past. GO FOR IT!

  28. adam from ny Says:

    on a serious note tho…

his status is kinda like jameis’ X 20…

so he’s gonna have to really chill out and find a more low key fetish…

he needs to understand he’s a professional athlete…and grow up fast…

years ago it meant all the girls in the world…

nowadays it’s almost the exact opposite – they’re waiting to give you some, then drop that law suit on you quick fast and in a hurry

  29. Bucsfan4ever Says:

Watson has us on his gaydar?
    Thx but no thx

  30. Bucsfan4ever Says:

    I’d rather sign bridgefaulter.

  31. Adrnagy Says:

I wonder how many games nfl will suspend him if …

  32. adam from ny Says:

minnesota will be more willing with the heavy salary…

they already overpaid cousins – like 32 mil or something like that

  33. uhmmm Says:

    ADJECTIVE [ADJECTIVE noun]
Serial attacks are a series of attacks committed by the same person. This person is known as a serial attacker

  34. Alstott up the gut Says:

Can he clear himself of all legal matters soon to be a full offseason participant? If his availability is good to go, then I am very interested in this option!

  35. Lesco_Brandon Says:

NO! he still has all of his legal issues. No other teams even want to trade for him. He is a ticking time bomb!

  36. timbucs2 Says:

I know Joe doesn’t like it when we talk about guys being scuzzballs to women, especially when they are talented QBs, but I don’t want another embarrassment of a man who gropes and assaults women on our team. AB was bad enough too, no thanks to Watson.

  37. Cj1984 Says:

I’m a bit confused on this whole thing with Watson. He hasn’t played in what two seasons? Isn’t he on suspension now? Joe help me with this. Where does Watson sit currently? Beyond confused.

  38. Listnfrmafar Says:

Let me put it to you this way, the NFL suspended AB 8 games for 1 alledged sexual harassment case. How many do you think Watson gets?

  39. Bucamania Says:

    Watson would be amazing

  40. Bradinator Says:

Great player BUT I suspect he is looking at a heavy suspension when the smoke clears. Raise your hand if you think the Glazers are going to plop down a LOT of money for another QB with grabby hands. I don’t think so.

  41. Bradinator Says:

PS say we trade away our first round pick, and criminal charges get filed since there is a criminal investigation underway. We waste a high end pick for a dude in an orange jumpsuit.

  42. MattSpy05 Says:

All I’m saying is if you were crying over Jameis’s allegations and then immediately forgive this for Deshaun Watson, just admit that you were feigning morality just because you didn’t like a player.

Our “fans” also burned Mike Evans’ jersey a few years back, so clearly kneeling is more of a problem than sexual assault.

  43. Avejoe85 Says:

How is Watson a top shelf #1? He hasn’t taken a snap in over a year and the last time he played he had good numbers but his team was 4-12. Sorry, but I think anyone would have a hard time trading what will likely cost 3 years of 1st round picks for a 4-12 QB especially considering that he might not even be eligible to play next year. Hard Pass.

  44. Swampbuc Says:

Ok, what do we have to give in trade, will he re-work his contract, and what FAs will we have to give up to pay him?

Also, what shenanigans does he bring with him? What will Goodell do? You know Goodell will bash the suspension hammer, one game for every change. There’s another season plus down the drain.

If somehow DWat is a Buc and we have Chris and some semblance of interior OL, and maybe Lenny sticks around….I might start gently massaging myself…..

  45. Oneilbuc Says:

He’s the only quarterback I wouldn’t mind over Trask right now!!

  46. Eric Says:

no way will the bucs trade unless the legal stuff is cleared up.

the DA can indict a ham sandwich with a grand jury. The only pathway is a plea deal and quick action by the league since thay have known about this forever and should be able to dispense quick justice.

surely they dont want this languishing any furher than necessry.

then again this is the NFL. They seem to embrace languishing.

  47. uhmmm Says:

Deshauns lawyer is working double time in this thread LMFAO

    UsedToStaring Says:

Always love to enlighten, was born for it really.

Grab your yellow legal pads and get scribbling. Pertaining to the proposed CRIMINAL charges.

Per (reputable sites with known quality sourcing–PFT) Florio is clearly indicating in January that per the Houston Chronicle’s sourcing within the Texas DA’s department, the likely charges currently being pursued (IF they can even get there to convict) is a charge “indecent assault”. Wait for it….that’s a MISDEMEANOR charge.

For clearly sooo many out here not well versed in SUCH THINGS, it will likely be pled out accordingly, first time offender yada yada. So probation, fines, community service, and consequently a 4-6 game suspension for the Plea Agreement to the misdemeanor charge, especially considering sitting out the 2021 season not playing.

So before all that is complete, it is far more sensible to do the due diligence on what I scribed above, get the assurances for owners across the board, then complete the trade BEFORE that is widely known with far more teams bidding, and Caserio can enforce a full picks and players package to acquire him.

    Done and done.

  48. Jersey buc Says:

Hahaha. Some of you guys with jaymiss comparisons. I don’t know if it’s true or not true wit is going on with him. I do know he’s 25 years old and a stud QB. He would solve our QB situation for 10 years! He can flat out play. So yes get this done

  49. Bucfan81 Says:

This would be stupid. Have the Bucs not learned their lessons from Josh Freeman, Jameis Winston or AB. I mean come on I want to win just like everyone else but this guy is trouble with a huge salary.

  50. Red86 Says:

Watson is many times better than Jameis on the field. Cousin is overrated like Fitzpatrick. Not a long term starter. (Cousin) Watson is the better choice since he would be motivated to change his image and name. He’s a very good young player and had great seasons before his off field allegations.

  51. acey Says:

    @UsedToStarting

Wow, I can’t believe Deshaun first time offended 20 times. Crazy what technology can do these days.

  52. Robert Says:

why would a superstar qb have that many allegations?

    character counts!

now back to calling them all gold diggers so you can sleep at night.

what if that was your daughter. not you 87…we already know you could care less.

  53. Red86 Says:

Watson is basically Josh Allen. Possibly better than Lamar Jackson since he’s more of a pocket passer that can run.

  54. Swampbuc Says:

Watson is a superior talent. Not sure what kind of leader he is on the field. Clearly has issues off the field.

Licht needs to get clarity from Roger’s Goodell about suspension plans.

  55. Taylor Says:

He comes here with legal issues and a suspension from the league lol ok

  56. SRQSalt Says:

Wonders if Team Glazer would sign off given the legal issues still pending.

  57. QB1 Says:

Joe loves criminal QB’s. At least DW can actually play ball unlike Jamoist. We are in danger of becoming a dumpster fire.

  58. Swampbuc Says:

Watson has probably already vetted the massage therapists in and around Tampa and hence is happy about the prospects .

Screw it, trade everyone for him, resign AB, we have the all criminal team.

  59. WillieG Says:

No more sex offenders please. Yeah, innocent until proven guilty but the guy has 20+ accusers so I’m confident he’s guilty and will be suspended.

  60. firethecannons Says:

Deshaun Watson is Jameis on steroids–probably gonna do jail time accusations sounded gross

  61. firethecannons Says:

lets give kyle trask a run bet he aint a future criminal

  62. catcard202 Says:

Call me skeptical but I have to wonder about the timing of the inappropriate “happy ending” accusations / civil suits….Funny that none of these allegations arose until after Watson signed his huge $$ contract – (4yr-$156M signed SEP 2020).

Watson met with the FBI, the NFL & local HOU police…After those meetings, nothing has come out on the criminal side from the FBI or HOU PD… While the NFL did not suspend Watson at all & told the Texans that they had no restrictions against playing him. (Though HOU chose to not go there – as the relationship was well past point of no return & they could not risk injury – if HOU wanted to move him.)

I may be wrong, but I would guess this eventually goes away & Watson is cleared in the end….

Which I believe the Texans believe, as well…As they have continued pursuing (3) 1st rd picks as a starter for any trade scenario to occur.

If HOU believed Watson would never play in the NFL again…They’d have offered there own 1st Rd Pick to move his contract & allow them to move on without the financial obligations looming over the organization.

It might also be worth noting that the accusers high priced litigator is now trying to sell his $27M HOU mansion. Which from afar, makes it seem like he is in some form of panic mode & knows he will not get the cash win-fall he was expecting when he took this case.

  63. Listnfrmafar Says:

So let’s say Bucs aquire Watson. He comes to Tampa, doesn’t get his way and refuses to play, what happens then? Oh and anyone thinking he is taking a pay cut don’t hold your breath he’ll probably go for more $$$. No where near as strong as Allen, he’s more like a Donovan McNabb who didn’t suck.

  64. BUC CHEEKS Says:

Just like AB…. COME ON, we’ll give you a shot! Just don’t strip and quit on us. If he’s a problem, see ya! See AB.

  65. ocala Says:

Bridgewater???? That would be a disaster and almost assure us of a 7-10 record.

  66. DBS Says:

It does not matter who they get or start. BA will go back to his old ways. Just get ready for the interceptions. The forced balls down field and unbalanced offence are coming.

  67. ATLBuc Says:

There have been no criminal charges filed against him

  68. Eric Says:

all the puritans will be the first ti turn on the team if things don’t go well.

do folks really believe every player on the 45 man roster is polly purebread? You dont even know half the roster, yet you are fans of the team. And you dont know anyone on the team well enogh to opine on their character.

    give it a rest hypocrites.

  69. Swampbuc Says:

    Is Aaron Hernandez still dead?

  70. Listnfrmafar Says:

Are the bring on Watson the same BA lovers that ridiculed AB? What’s the difference between the two? Oh I know 21 more victims. Are you all forgetting why he sat out? He didn’t get what he wanted, do you think BA’s slap on the head is going to work with this guy? He has locker room VIRUS written all over him. Karen on steroids.

  71. Niles Says:

Welcome to the National Felon League.

  72. Niles Says:

“Deshaun Watson Has Bucs On His Radar”

He’s also got his criminal defense attorney on speed dial.

  73. Listnfrmafar Says:

Hernandez isn’t alive but Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson and Kareem Hunt are.

  74. westernbuc Says:

I’d rather have Blaine Gabbert than a guy who’s going to miss ten games

  75. Lamarcus Says:

Idc about his personal life. This is a business decision and let’s keep it that way!

  76. Cobraboy Says:

If he’s cleared, if he restructures, I’d be all-in with Watson in pewter.

I’m less concerned about rubs gone bad than I am about a $40mil cap hit right now.

  77. xdptoddx Says:

Why are you intentionally downplaying his legal issues by calling them “hassles?”

If you personally want to overlook them, that’s completely fine, but don’t marginalize the claims against him in an effort to make them out to be less than they are. It’s sexual assault, plain and simple. In fact one of the complaints alleged forced/coerced oral sex. If these allegations are true, then he’s arguably the worst character that the Bucs will have ever brought into the locker room.

So please, if you’re seriously advocating for Watson, regardless of what he’s done, then be 100% transparent about it and own the specific alleged conduct that you think shouldn’t matter to Bucs fans because he can throw a football.

  78. AstrotheDog Says:

Tampa has a lot of “massage” parlors open for business. Should be a good fit.

  79. Duane Says:

The problem I have with Watson is he has 99 problems, and at least 20 are accounted for. I also dont like how long it has taken for this to still be unresolved. Big Ben was in full rehab mode and even engaged in a similiar timeline.

  80. Walter Says:

    Absolute best case scenario

  81. Cobraboy Says:

I never rejected ATM because he was “low on character.” I didn’t like it, I would not have him alone with my (non-existent) daughter, but I did not reject him as a Buc.

I DID strongly object to his never-ending interceptions, fumbles, and bone-headed decisions ON the field.

That said, did I miss the criminal charges against Watson? Hell, Brown had *criminal* charges from some of his antics, as well as civil issues…that he resolved.

  82. allbuccedup Says:

Lets mortgage the whole franchises future on a qb who may be great but has serious issues one trip to mons venus hes suspended indefinitely.

  83. Chris K Says:

Where is the Hell Yes ✅?

  84. Nicholas Carlson Says:

    No!

  85. 4eva_i_luv_tampabay Says:

Pretty Please I’ll do all my homework

  86. Fishhawkbuc Says:

Did we not just get rid of a criminal when we got rid of JW?

  87. stpetebucsfan Says:

Do we ever learn? We gambled a #1 overall pick on a guy who was only “questionable” at the time. The first off season he hangs with a convicted rapist at 3AM allegedly gropes an Uber driver and his pic had to be removed from RayJay. Then it was five years of frustration.

AB was a great receiver…perhaps the best in the league…helped us get one SB and then made sure we didn’t get a second. How did that end?

Remember the famous parable…The frog hesitates and says, “You’ll sting me!” The scorpion says, “Oh no, I wouldn’t do that, because if I sting you, we’ll both drown.” So the frog is convinced, and agrees to the arrangement, and halfway across the river, the scorpion stings the frog. “Why did you do it?” gasps the frog. BECAUSE I’M A SCORPI0N AND THAT’S WHAT SCORPIONS DO!

    Watson is a scorpion!

  88. Dreambig Says:

Thats a great way to destroy the team. Talk about the opposite of Tom Brady!

  89. Dreambig Says:

Watson is a train wreck, not a leader of men. Maybe talented like Antonio, but clearly a man with no strength of character. He might win you some games but at some point he will self destruct.

  90. steele Says:

Absolute hard no on Watson. Indeed, a train wreck and a monster.

If he’s the QB, it would drive me to root against this team.

  91. firethecannons Says:

Locker room cancer for sure! Just ride with Trask, might be better than you think

  92. cmurda Says:

    allbuccedup Says:

Lets mortgage the whole franchises future on a qb who may be great but has serious issues one trip to mons venus hes suspended indefinitely.

Mortgage the future? No, this isn’t Coach Ditka giving up an entire draft for Ricky Williams. Deshaun would probably cost half the compensation that he’s actually worth. Everything hinges on the legal situation plays out.

    Mons Venus is worth it!
