Report: Kyler Murray, Cardinals At Odds

February 14th, 2022

Rancor in Phoenix?

Explosive Sunday report by the old master, Chris Mortensen of BSPN, on the status of Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.

Murray made news recently when he scrubbed all references to the Cardinals from his social media accounts except for two pictures and one story on his Instagram account. The one story was a screenshot of Mike Evans saying he always wanted to catch a touchdown from “the Texas legend.”

(Evans had Mossed linebacker Denzel Perryman for a touchdown pass from Murray in the Pro Bowl, and Murray also Tweeted Evans’ message with the word “Legend!” so clearly he was moved by Evans’ words.)

Mortensen reported that Murray and the Cardinals are actually butting heads. Murray apparently feels that he was hung out to dry by the Cardinals in the team’s collapse from a No. 1 seed in December to being bounced from the playoffs by the Rams in the wild card round — a game in which Murray looked awful.

Per Mortensen, someone connected to the Cardinals apparently shot back saying Murray is immature and selfish. Whoa!

A team calling out its star quarterback through an NFL insider would be really harsh and rare. And who else would label Murray a selfish child (allegedly) other than someone with the team? DeSean Jackson is not on the Cardinals, so he’s not the guy singing fake news to national media.

While Mortensen reported the Cardinals believe they can smooth things out, you don’t start that process by throwing your quarterback under the bus. If Joe didn’t know any better, it sure feels like a No. 1 overall draft pick, a Pro Bowl quarterback, can be had at a reasonable price.

Bucs AC/DC -loving general manager Jason Licht is going to be doing a whole lot of talking to agents two weeks from today when the combine begins.

Watching the guy play — I believe the Cardinals take. He is immature and selfish. And like any of the other top name QBs disgruntled with their current situations, his acquisition cost and future salary demands would cripple Licht’s ability to keep a playoff caliber roster intact.

Having said all that — I’d prefer him over most other mentioned options.

    Wilson ain’t coming.
Wouldn’t want Karen, she sucks hard in the heat and humidity.
Watson and his electric vibratory ensemble, er, no.
Garrapablow? Hell no. Hated Dilfer. Grapeblow is worse.
Carr would be great but apparently McDaniel agrees so Carr ain’t leaving.
Buttwater? I fear this is possible. .
JayMiss? PTSD twitches and convulsions happening.
Wentz? Errggghhh — gulp — can we re-look at Dilfer?
    Goobert? Name speaks for itself.
GRIFFIN! Yeah ! The guy who has thrown four NFL passes in his whole life. (no)
    Scam? harhar
    Fitz? nooooooooooooooooooo

Might as well go to a bar and tell the patrons that the first football thrown through the front door gets the job.

    This is not pretty.

    SO it’s simple.

Figure out how to appease the horsefaced commandant, get the players back that Brady wants, get the defensive preparations to Belichodian standards, and get the man back to finish his contract with the Bucs.

GET IT DONE, Jason — you have no other choice. (See aboce.)

Watching the guy behave — I believe in the Cardinals take. He is immature and selfish. But so talented. And like any of the other top name QBs disgruntled with their current situations, his acquisition cost and future salary demands would cripple Licht’s ability to keep a playoff caliber roster intact.

Having said all that — I’d prefer him over most other mentioned options. This is a sad list of options.

    Wilson ain’t leaving Seattle.

Wouldn’t want Karen’s Rodgering, she ain’t leaving the tundra and she sucks hard in the heat and humidity.

I know it was only the Pro Bowl, but, Kyler looked pretty damn good connecting on that tuddy to Mike Evans. If we could keep most of our o line if not all. A scrambling qb that looks to throw first behind a really good o line. And the weapons we have at receiver. I like the move. But I’ll let the organization do there homework and get the best fit for them

  4. Joe in Michigan Says:

The “horsefaced commandant” (I’m sure you’ve had better, eye roll) is about as funny as Ira’s Bette Midler shtick…Not the slightest bit humorous.

  5. Bruce Blahak Says:

Baseball will love him. Short persons game.

  6. 1Gr8Buc Says:

After this tweet two legitimate journalist borderline called this a hit job and they they have not heard anything of the such from the team or Murray himself.

  7. MadMax Says:

Well said Swamp! Pretty funny too.

  8. Tim Says:

HARD PASS. That game against the Rams, what he did, the completely lost look in his eyes told me all I need to know about him. No way do I want Murray with the Bucs. It looked like they threw a high school QB out there. He looked like a 5’6″ Jameis Winston out there. NO THANKS

  9. Hodad Says:

Your starting QB will be a former first round pick. Only 32 years old 6′ 5″ 235 lbs, has a cannon for an arm, and has spend the last two years as Brady’s wing man, Blaine Gabbert. Does saying it like that sound better? In a couple of weeks that’s how Bruce, and the Bucs will sell it.

  10. lambchop Says:

Wait, why do we want a QB who sucks at leadership and has no accountability?

You gotta be kidding me. Heck no. No midget QBs. The only due diligence Jason Licht will do is to confirm the tea leaves of him being a pouty sell out.

  11. Jerry R Jones Says:

Yes, please please pick up another immature finger pointer (JAMEIS WINSTON).

  12. Bobby M. Says:

Murray reminds me of Wentz…..both have the talent to be good options but both seem to sour organizations to the point of divorce. The Bucs have to be delicate with who they bring into the locker room. Following THE GOAT, you can’t have some spoiled “me” first clown at QB, that’s not going to fly in this locker room. The Colts are learning that the hard way with Wentz. He’s very capable but he’s such a smuck behind the scenes that he wears his stay out really quick. I’ll take Jimmy G or even Goff…..Carr would probably be the ideal QB for our situation but I can’t see why Vegas would let him go. Wilson is appealing to me but I don’t see that happening.

  13. LakelandSteve Says:

He may be a good QB, but do the Bucs need a selfish and immature QB. That kind of stuff is contagious and can destroy a locker room. That’s like meeting the perfect girl, the girl or your dreams and once you get married you find out she can’t cook, doesn’t do any housework, picks her nose, farts all the time and then all of a sudden sucks in bed. Hang on a minute that sounds like my wife. Never mind.

  14. LakelandSteve Says:

You know I’m just joking Helga.

  15. Bojim Says:

Swampbuc is jealous of Giselle as usual.

  16. sasquatch Says:

Murray is a little b!tch. Selfish immature punk is not a leader.

    And a 5’10” QB can’t see over our O-line.

  17. Marine Buc Says:

No thanks. When he is healthy he is a solid QB. But he isn’t 100% healthy very often…

  18. Tackleblockwin Says:

I agree with Cards take on Murray. It’s obvious he is a “me” guy not a “team” guy. All you hear from BA and Bruce is how tight our locker room is. Don’t need him, there are other options.

  19. SKBucsFan Says:

Pretty soon your ability (and height) catches up with you. There is very little upside to him. Running the ball when your undersized will just lead to injuries. More game film makes it easier for defenses to control him. He is not in a position to dictate his career at this point.

  20. Cobraboy Says:

I was never a Murray fan. At. All.

A scrambler does NOT fit into Arians/Leftwich O scheme.

Seriously: I wonder of Luck stayed in reasonable shape…

  21. PassingThru Says:

Indy still owns Luck’s rights. They have a very good roster but are in dire need of a QB. I don’t see them trading the rights to Luck, and given the battering he went through, I don’t see Luck asking to join a team that doesn’t already have a quality O Line in place for next season.

  22. Mike Johnson Says:

My guess is Licht will go with the cheapest options. And they are Jimmy G and Jameis. Watson is a long shot. But it could happen.

  23. DBS Says:

In March Nobody is going to say who the starting QB is for the Bucs Hodad. You are worse than Jon and his constant Trask crying every QB article. Give it up.

  24. Craig Says:

So what, he isn’t an Arians model of QB. He likes them around 6’5″ and 235.

  25. David Says:

Damnnn. That’s too bad. That is exactly why I don’t want A-Aron. Self centered finger pointer

  26. SlyPirate Says:

IT COMES DOWN TO OPTIONS …

If the options are Murray, Gabbet, Trask, you take the guy who gives you the best chance of winning. That is Kyler.

  27. Buczilla Says:

I’d give up a third round pick for him, but I doubt that the Cardinals would bite. I still think that Trask and a rookie is our best bet if Brady isn’t (He’s not) coming back.

  28. Swampbuc Says:

Hey Jerk in Michigan – I think you’re humorless, so congratulations. Too bad that Tom Brady guy was over the hill and washed up, like you said. The Bucs might have won a Super Bowl with him in his younger years.

    Oh, wait.

  29. Joe in Michigan Says:

Swampbuc: The difference is I wasn’t trying to be funny, you are by making fun of a guy’s super model wife. You failed miserably.
