Russell Wilson Gives No Vibe He Wants Out Of Seattle

“Hey Russ, if you need a house in Tampa, I can hook you up. And you won’t have to rent a room to Antonio Brown.”
Joe is sure you have heard this before: the Bucs need a quarterback unless the team decides to start dumping salaries and attempts a rebuild.
And Joe is very confident that 69 year old Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians isn’t returning to lead a rebuild. So back to Square 1: The Bucs need a quarterback.
Some fans think Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson might be had. He nearly got traded last year after raising a stink in the offseason that the team wasn’t doing enough to build him a better offensive line. (Gee, where could find one of those?).
But it seems Wilson and the Seahawks have kissed and made up. Last week on Radio Row in Los Angeles, Wilson stopped in on the one and only Chris “Mad Dog” Russo of SiriusXM fame. There, Russo began pestering Wilson if he wanted to get out of Seattle.
Wilson sure didn’t sound like a guy itching to leave the Pacific Northwest. Shortly after Wilson said, “I feel amazing I feel better than ever,” Russo began peppering him with questions about his future.
Chris “Mad Dog” Russo: If it is your choice, do you want to stay in Seattle or are you open to moving? Let me hear your take on your future and what you would like to see.
Russell Wilson: The quarterback business is always hard to find [laughs], honestly. It’s a tough one to find especially for those guys that are really special and that play for a long time. …
Russo: Which you are, which you are.
Wilson: Those guys like [Tom] Brady and [Drew] Brees and some other great ones, [Aaron] Rodgers himself. There are so many others. I have been fortunate to play 10 amazing years in Seattle. So my hope and goal is to be back there and keep winning there. That’s the vision. That’s the goal. It’s really never been anything different.
Russo: If push comes to shove and things worked out you would like to stay?
Wilson: Oh yeah. To win more there? I’d like to win three more Super Bowls. That’s my focus. To get back and win it again, for us to overcome all of the obstacles — there is nothing more fun than that.
Later, Wilson mentioned that he’s 33 and believes he has 12 more years playing in the NFL left in his body. So Russo asked him will he achieve that goal in Seattle?
Wilson: That’s the goal.
Russo: Is that a yes or a no?
Wilson: [Laughs], That’s a yes.
Now Joe had read in last week’s Albert Breer mailbag on SI.com that Wilson could be trade bait as the Seahawks are supposed to stink and Wilson’s salary is large, but Seahawks owner Jody Allen, who has been described as something of a hands-off owner, is leaning towards keeping him.
If Allen wants Wilson and Wilson is publicly expressing his love for Seattle, Joe doesn’t see Wilson being moved to the Bucs without a massive trade.
Could Wilson be wearing a Tampa Bay uniform? Well, three years ago did anyone dream Tom Brady would be wearing one? But Wilson coming to the Bucs seems very unlikely.

Brady came as a free agent and at a ridiculous discount to his worth. Wilson wants top dollar first. He’s simply an old version of Kyler Murray.
Get Murray and coach him up, push the biotch out of him.

Trashk has nothing. It’s already been seen. But he will certainly get a chance to prove that he sucks. You don’t just not bring anyone else in and give the keys to a guy that couldn’t even budge Ryan Griffin off the roster. He will get at least another year or two to prove he sucks in practice. If you are seriously saying you want him to be named the starter, now — you must want the Bucs to go 1-15.
Thankfully Jason Licht runs the team, not you.

QB option assessment:
Watching Kyler Murray behave — I believe the Cardinals take. KM is immature and selfish. And very young, and extremely talented. And like any of the other top name QBs disgruntled with their current situations, his acquisition cost and future salary demands would cripple Licht’s ability to keep a playoff caliber roster intact.
Having said all that — I’d prefer him over most other mentioned options.
Wilson ain’t coming.
Wouldn’t want Karen’s Rodgering, she sucks hard in the heat and humidity.
Watson and his electric vibratory ensemble, er, no.
Garrapablow? Hell no. Hated Dilfer. Grapeblow is worse.
Carr would be great but apparently McDaniel agrees so Carr ain’t leaving.
Buttwater? I fear this is possible. .
JayMiss? PTSD twitches and convulsions happening.
Wentz? Errggghhh — gulp — can we re-look at Dilfer?
Goobert? Name speaks for itself.

Figure out how to appease the horsefaced commandant, get the players back that Brady wants, get the defensive preparations to Belichodian standards,
and get the man back to finish his contract with the Bucs.

Historically TB has given his team a slight discount. Look at current contract with us 25 and 41 mil the last 2 years. Yep 41 last year. 2022 9 mil. Seems odd he retires now. Plus, we owe him 24 mil the next year regardless if he plays. That’s dead cap space if he doesn’t.
So was that really a discount? Maybe. Fact is we won and that’s what it’s about. TB value was attracting and keeping FA, because he won. You have to have a high quality QB. As for Trask, this team is still ready to win. Ask yourself how many QBs did TB mentor and produce in NE?? Jimmy G?? Maybe, but I recall TB was pissed they drafted him. Pretty sure TB was locked in on his job and the starters and host receivers and running backs we had this year, and not the 4th stringer. This franchise has to keep it rolling. We had been rebuilding for years. Trust me l saw it as I had tickets for 16 years.

Get Murray, get Wilson, get real! None of those guys are coming to Tampa. Yeah Arains isn’t in for a rebuild, that’s why he’s going with the QB he knows best, Blaine Gabbert. The stars aligned when we got Brady. The opportunity was just there. You can’t just make that happen again because you want to. So if you can’t catch a star again, and the FA class sucks, why not go with the guy you know? Arains knows he can hit the ground running with Gabbert for better, or worse. He knows Gabbert has a firm grasp of the offense, he’s not going to want to teach Jimmy, or Teddy from scratch who aren’t even upgrades. There’s really no choice but to start the season with Gabbert, and getting Trask ready to be the #2. Get used to it.

I don’t understand the hate for Trask….he hasn’t had a chance to earn respect or hate.

Has anyone watched Russ Wilson of late? He’s still decent, but you’re not getting the near-elite QB from days of yore. He doesn’t move as well as he used to, and at 5’11” that’s a critical issue as he can’t always be parked in the pocket.
I’m not saying he’s a bad option, but if you’re thinking he’s going to get TB past the wild card round, think again. He’s going to soak up massive cap space with his current contract and future salary demands.

My read on what Wilson said ” For us to overcome all the obstacles” quote is that there are way more than a couple of obstacles to get Seattle back to the big game and Russ knows that. Providing Bucs can present an offer that Seattle will accept ( 3 number#1’s and Trask) , I feel very confident Russ will waive the no trade clause to come to Tampa and be the favorite to win next years’ Superbowl immediately. Win Now Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When did Seattle ever have a good oline for RW? With the Bucs oline and weapons I think he would be very good. Unfortunately, the cost to trade for him plus his salary would be too big of a hit.

He has a no trade clause. He listed the teams he would waive the clause for and the Bucs aren’t one of them. Scratch him off the wishlist.

Wilson doesn’t want to leave Seattle, that’s clear.
The point is, in what is going to be the wildest quarterback offseason in years, crazy money overpaying for QBs, Wilson is the is the clear number two biggest name on the market after Rodgers.
Whatever happens with Rodgers sets the market, and then Seattle will listen to the offers that come in for Wilson, before they act to keep him. His value will never be higher, and they need a significant rebuild.
I doubt the Bucs have the assets to compete with what Wilson is going to get thrown his way.
