Hall Of Fame Class Announced; Rondé Barber Not Included
February 10th, 2022So tonight the 2022 Class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees was announced at the NFL Honors glitzy Los Angeles setting. And unfortunately, Bucs legend Rondé Barber was not among the class.
The Class of 2022 includes Tony Boselli, LeRoy Butler, Sam Mills, Richard Seymour, Bryant Young, Cliff Branch, Art McNally and Dick Vermeil. The final three are senior members, meaning they were basically rubber-stamped to enter the Hall after being nominated by the senior committee.
The voting process works as follows: A large group of eligible players is nominated and piece by piece over a period of months by various votes the field is whittled down to 15.
Then the Hall of Fame selectors gather (or this year, a giant Zoom call) to vote on the final 10. Once the final 10 is determined, then the selectors choose their five candidates from the group of 10 to determine the five-man class.
Joe is confident Barber’s day will come within the next year or two. It’s an exhaustive process.
JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman is a Hall of Fame selector and he is the lone representative of the Tampa Bay area.

BS.

This shizzle is getting ridiculous.
February 10th, 2022 at 10:49 pm
Karen Rodgers gets MVP??
Total screwjob!!!
Brady had more tuddies, more yards, & changes AN ENTIRE ORGANIZATION , not just the team…
No contest….
February 10th, 2022 at 10:52 pm
In what universe is Sam Mills better than Ronde or Mr Hester?
February 10th, 2022 at 10:52 pm
who is our hall of fame announcer again?
February 10th, 2022 at 10:53 pm
Whoa. Brady got hosed just like Ronde. Ephin back to the out of the spotlight no respect Bucs. So be it. I like being the underdog.
February 10th, 2022 at 10:54 pm
Not announcer presenter.
February 10th, 2022 at 11:04 pm
Gotta say I was so let down when #55 didn’t say Ronde Barber. As soon as I seen Derrick I was jumping up and down thinking Ronde got in. They couldn’t find any other guy to present the award for the guy Brooks announced? IDk just seemed like a knife in the side..
February 10th, 2022 at 11:14 pm
I don’t have an issue with LeRoy Butler finally getting in, but I do have a problem with the fact they put in Ty Law ahead of Barber in 2019. That’s idiocy, anyone who ever watched the two know Ronde literally changed the game as the premiere Tampa 2 corner, which was the most important defense of his time (and as of this year, it’s about the be the most important defense again). Ty Law was just a good player on a good defense that Brady carried to some rings, Ty Law literally had nothing to do with any of those rings.
February 10th, 2022 at 11:14 pm
What are we doing as a people lately?! Seriously….
We can’t all be that dumb. And if we are, why are we appointing them
February 10th, 2022 at 11:17 pm
Ronde should already be in ahead of Butler, I agree. This is so political.
February 10th, 2022 at 11:21 pm
He has to be getting closer. Totally deserves to be in the HOF
February 10th, 2022 at 11:22 pm
Man Bunn ,drama gueen ,Karen Rogers missed the first game bc he’s all about himself wins MVP … that’s f-ed up
February 10th, 2022 at 11:25 pm
HOF is pretty much become a joke.
Just like the probowl.
February 10th, 2022 at 11:26 pm
SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!
February 10th, 2022 at 11:30 pm
Boselli was really good but didn’t play that long.
Ronde definitely should have gotten in before him.
February 10th, 2022 at 11:31 pm
Keep your head high. Dignity. Prevail. Those who saw you close the Vet and open the Linc, know. Your time will come.
February 10th, 2022 at 11:39 pm
Rod, barber couldn’t carry ty laws jock with a wheelbarrow. To call ty a good not great corner is like calling warren buffet a millionaire. The real shame in all this is Rodney Harrison. He’ll probably never get it because of how violently he played. One question for all you barber chairs, if you’re a QB who do you fear more, barber or law? It’s easy to sit back and let an incredible front do the work. It’s quite another to cover the teams best wr. man to man, and make him quit. Ty was famous for doing so.

Boselli was really good, absolutely no issues with him going in, he was the best of the best when he played. He’s a lot like Lee Roy Selmon, who also had a short career, but dominated when he played.
But in any case they rarely put in two defensive backs, at least that’s how I remember it going, so the fact that Butler went in, meant Barber did not. Butler probably did deserve to go in, not ahead of Barber if they both played in the same timeframe, but Butler came in, in 1990, so I think that’s why he got the nod. The fact they put in an inferior player, again, ahead of Barber, means he should be going in next year.

Bqen green – LOL! OK there Pats fanboi.
Anywho, shouldn’t you be gone already, your boyfriend retired.
February 11th, 2022 at 12:18 am
The Patriots fans will leave when Brady’s rights are traded and he come out if retirement. Every New England Fans knows Tom hasn’t played his last game.
February 11th, 2022 at 1:45 am
LOFL, only homer Pats fans could try to claim Law was better.
He wasn’t.
Ty Law: 53 INTs, 108 PDs, 7 pick-6s, 7 forced fumbles, 5 sacks
Ronde Barber: 47 INTs, 197 PDs, 8 pick-6s, 15 forced fumbles, 28 sacks
Barber has nearly double the passes defended, double the forced fumbles, almost 6x the amount of sacks, and interceptions returned for touchdowns. Oh and Ronde had 4 fumbles returned for touchdowns, Law had 0.
LOL Pats fans.
February 11th, 2022 at 1:46 am
*more interceptions returned for touchdowns.
February 11th, 2022 at 2:05 am
Hoping Ronde gets in next year because he deserves it as he was a great player. For the people downing Ty Law all I can say is watch the tape. He was the best cover corner of his era. Teams rarely threw in his direction. Both are great players but if I’m picking one of them to cover a teams best player and take him out of the game Im picking Law.
February 11th, 2022 at 2:18 am
Law had some incredible plays in the playoffs… no argument there. But best cover corner of his era? I dunno I would go that far.
But whatever, that’s old news anyways.
LeRoy Butler though? Ridiculous. I always hear it brought up how Butler was the first player in to get 20 INTs and 20 sacks in a career… Uhhhh, Mr. Barber was the first to go 40+ INTS and 20+ sacks in a career!
And only one other player has ever done that in NFL history… that would be Hall of Famer Charles Woodson. Enough of this BS already.
February 11th, 2022 at 2:25 am
Hall of Fame stopped making sense a long time ago. Players from different eras means endless dead end arguments that, if endlessly fun.
February 11th, 2022 at 2:30 am
So Rodgers gets the MVP due to votes from the same individuals who previously voted him All-Pro. And because they already voted for Rodgers for AP, they couldn’t downgrade him by putting Brady above him for MVP. Or some such nonsense.
February 11th, 2022 at 4:26 am
All this HOF procedure and voters are a joke, there is no objectivity. When they want they talk about stats and other times stats dont matter. Its a joke. Ronde is one of the best corners of his generation. He defined the Nickel position but also played outside corner. It is a travesty that is not in the HOF yet. To all of you that you compare them with Ty Law please tell me how many games of Ronde Barber have you watched Pats fans. I would be surprised if it is more than 10. Stop it. Ronde has better stats than almost every corner including Law. Team wins or even Playoff wins is not a stat that should matter more (especially for Corners) because it is a TEAM sport. Revis didnt have success in the Playoffs so i guess that should matter and maybe he is not worthy for HOF. Stop the idiocy. Barber is a generetional player and those that have not seen him play more than 10 times your opinion is irrelevant.
February 11th, 2022 at 5:07 am
Bquen
You are joking right. Like TY law had terrible players in front of him like Tedy bruschi and HOF Willie McGinnest. With Lawyer Milloy in back w him. So he had no help just Ty Law running around doing it all. Lol Patriots Homer
February 11th, 2022 at 5:17 am
Also lets please note that Ty law spent his entire career playing against the Formidable AFC East Jets, Bills & Dolphins
You might as well run out High school teams for Ty Law to play against
Go away NE homers
February 11th, 2022 at 6:11 am
The guys on this HOF class all waited a long time to get in, Barber probably just as good as these guys, his time will come. But why tease me with Derrick Brooks introducing Cliff Branch, when it started with players who played with teammates like Fabre introducing Leroy Butler, it was like the Bucs thing the Rams (excitement) then Cooper Kip catching the ball to set up the FG – disappointment
February 11th, 2022 at 6:24 am
Every year there’s more head-shakers. If you have a recognizable name and had a decent career, that’s all it seems to take anymore. Tony Boselli, for instance. Compare him to Willie Roaf, Jonathan Ogden, Will Sheilds, Walter Jones. Sorry, I disagree.
Leroy Butler was a “good” safety, but a HOF’er?! I don’t remember talk of “fearing” that GB safety.
Well, there’s always next year! He’ll probably get bumped by another big-market team’s player by being described as a “system player” as an excuse.
We love you Ronde! You’re HOF in Bucs fans’ eyes.
February 11th, 2022 at 7:07 am
Sam mills? RICHARD SEYMOUR??? This is a pretty garbage class. Richard Seymour… omg
February 11th, 2022 at 7:31 am
Politics. Barber deserves the gold jacket.
February 11th, 2022 at 8:58 am
Surprised by Sam Mills. Def happy for his family, but still surprised
February 11th, 2022 at 11:25 am
Kaufman has gotta go. We need an actual Bucs fan and ONLY a Bucs fan representing us in the HOF panel. Kaufman is not it and hasn’t been it since Brookes.
February 11th, 2022 at 12:58 pm
Nothing polished up a halo like an obituary.

You might want to do a little research before sounding foolish. Ty played against Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady when he left for the Jets. BTW Willie McGinest is not a hall of famer and while a good player won’t sniff the hall.
Its hard to compare Barber to Law as they played in two totally different defensive systems with very different responsibilities. As a pure man coverage Corner Back Law was superior. He was not asked to do the things Ronde and Charles Woodson did due to the Patriots defensive system. I love the Bucs and Patriots and have since I was old enough to hold a football. The Bucs had the Superior Defense IMHO and I would put theirs from 99-2002 up with the Bears in mid 80s and Ravens in the heydey of Ed Reed and Ray Lewis. New England’s from the early 2000s was great but not historic like Tampas.
February 11th, 2022 at 3:01 pm
Every single player that made it this year was inferior to Barber. It’s a corrupt, shameful process run mostly by people that have no business judging another man’s football career. Blow this sh!t up.

unbelievable Says:

Again, Butler ahead of Barber is stupid, but Butler was an all-90s defender for a reason, he was really good. I think he got the nod solely because he’s older – it’s certainly not based on play, but again, I don’t have an issue with Butler, just the order.
But that should mean Barber is a shoe-in next year. There’s no way anyone can make an argument Butler is in, but Barber doesn’t belong, not even the idiots in the fake news media can make that argument.
February 12th, 2022 at 10:00 am
Snowman
Lol. Only McGinnest comment was off as far as HOF
However you proved your stupidity. Law was a rookie in 95 and Kelly retired 96 & Marino 2000 ( he was not great the last 5yrs)
So yea Law played against GARBAGE TEAMS for HALF OF THE SEASON EVERY YEAR
& in case you didnt know the Colts are not in the AFC east so your Payton Manning comment has Zero bearing
February 12th, 2022 at 10:12 am
& Peyton was rookie in 98 and they left AFC east 2002. Whopping 4 years in same Division. Not hardly a career in same division
