Patriots Legend And Tom Brady Friend Says Tom Brady Will “Get That Itch” To Play
February 10th, 2022This was not some blowhard player/coach turned media guy talking.
Legendary Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia, the 74-year-old guru who retired for the second time after Tom Brady left New England, calls himself a friend of Brady. And he doesn’t buy any of the drama that Brady is upset by how things ended for him with the Belicheats.
However, Scarnecchia was telling WEEI Radio that he thinks Brady will find retirement difficult and “he probably will get that itch” to return to the field once he starts watching games.
The football greatness still within Brady will be too much to bear.
“This guy is playing as good as any quarterback in the league, maybe in the history of the league, Scarnecchia said. “This season was spectacular, and given the fact for that almost half of it, he didn’t have his best receiver out there.
And you know what, they did some patchwork stuff and they did a hell of a job to, you know, win the games they won and come within a cat whisker of beating the team that’s now in the Super Bowl in the Rams.”
Joe sure found Scarnecchia’s takes interesting, considering he’s an old-school coach and a former Marines Sergeant. He’s not one to blow a bunch of smoke.
First, is Brady really playing the QB position better than anyone in history?
Second, it seems Scarnecchia was saying Antonio Brown was Brady’s best receiver. If Brady believed that, too, then maybe he’s bitter that Bucco Bruce Arians kicked him off the team with Chris Godwin already out for the season?

Brady called Licht after his retirement story went national to let Licht know that he had not yet decided if he was going to retire or not.
Saint Brady was lying.

He’s gone – let’s move on…next!

Tom Brady….the media gift that keeps on coming….
Exactly what Brady wants….continued exposure…..he is playing it perfectly.
February 10th, 2022 at 8:33 am
Yeah. Brady backs up a Super Bowl with a dominating season and quits because he doesn’t like the way the Bucs run things. Right.
February 10th, 2022 at 8:35 am
He will get the itch to play come April/May but he’s not coming back

I used to wish that Scar would come out of retirement and offer to coach the Buc O Line. You would have all seen improved run blocking; the Man is a serious O Line coach, the best in the business.

BA retires. BL takes over. Welcomes AB back. TB12 and RG have a change of heart. All our free agents sign for a hometown discount. We reload with a good draft and go on a Super Bowl run.

Part of me thinks that Brady will grow weary of retirement as well.
It’s like the German intelligence officer in the movie Patton; who worshipfully stares at a photo of Patton, then mutters, “He too will be destroyed. The absence of war will kill him.”
February 10th, 2022 at 8:55 am
Brady is still the best QB in NFL.
February 10th, 2022 at 8:55 am
He left on good terms with BA and Licht, he just isn’t a fan of BA’s system and I believe BA is kind of relieved, he likes the lime light. Once Bucs work their QB position Brady will ask to be released or traded. There is NO way the Bucs will deny Brady’s release. I always thought 49ers but I heard prior to joining the Bucs he met with Shanahan and Shanahan was quizzing Brady on situational football to the level that Brady got annoyed and started referencing the Atlanta SB plays as examples which pissed Shanahan off because he was the OC at that time. Maybe they patched things up. The 49ers also makes sense why Gronk mentioned Cincy, 9ers have Kindle, no need for brother Gronk. Stay tuned Bucs fans, it’s coming.

Guys, we can debate why he left and will he return until the cows come home, but that’s not going to change anything. The burning questions now are, which of our FAs should we keep, who will be our QB in 2022, and who and/or what positions should we draft. The answers to those questions will dictate what kind of team we have next season. Brady to Gronk for a TD is over. Great memories, but it’s over and it no longer matters why.

Agreed TBBF. Take a look at Bucs salary CAP TODAY on Spotrac. Brady’s CAP hit just went up be over $10 mil. I can think of only 1 good reason Bucs would do that.
February 10th, 2022 at 9:23 am
Brady is a valuable commodity……if he wants to come back for another team….it will be a team that really needs him…..we should absolutely demand a decent draft pick for his rights…..
But, I don’t think this will happen.
If Bucs are set up to go with Trask….it will open the door for his possible return….bring in a QB & that door closes completely.

TB12 may return to play but not in Tampa.
I bet he goes to either Indy or SF…
Two teams that are built to win now.
February 10th, 2022 at 9:35 am
The most common narrative is that Brady is disenchanted with the Bucs, for various reasons. If he wanted to come back he’s looking for the situation that Stafford got with the Rams, and at present I’m not seeing one of those

Brady is the player. Bruce is the coach. Maybe Brady should have thrown him the ball more or taken him to get a valid vax card.

BA mishandled AB. It may have felt good firing AB on the spot, but it hurt the team.
Brady is team-first, win-first. He even had AB live with him, so Brady obviously felt responsible for AB. BA should have given Brady a chance, as a team leader, to address AB. Instead, AB’s departure became an ugly distraction. Brady now wants out…from BA and the Bucs. He’s through with us but not with football. Agree with Lisnfrmafar…either Indy or SF, maybe even Titans. All ready to win, with right QB.
February 10th, 2022 at 11:36 am
AB literally backstabbed Brady and got into an altercation with Brady at the jets game at halftime. Enough with this BS that Brady is pissed at the handling of the AB situation. He’s not on AB’s side whatsoever at all.

@ Buc D. Truth
You are 100% correct.
@ Beeej
I agree. I believe (like most things in life) it wasn’t just one thing that made TB12 pack it up and leave. It was a combination of factors…
BA/BL/TB (coaching)
26 free agents
low salary cap
etc…
If TB12 thought Tampa could return to the Super Bowl he probably would not be retiring.
February 10th, 2022 at 12:41 pm
Well of course he will. His wife made him retire – he didn’t want to stop playing when he showed no signs of slowing down. Best thing for the Bucs would be if some new young supermodel came along, sweep Brady away, and he’d need that check to pay child support.
February 10th, 2022 at 1:34 pm
When AB stormed off the field in NYC, BA had no choice but to dump him. You can’t let a player do what he did and allow him to stay. As a coach you would destroy any creditability – even TB knows that and for someone to say that TB wanted AB to stay is utter BS or TB isn’t the guy we think he is.
February 10th, 2022 at 7:53 pm
AB stormed off after BA impulsively dumped him–Tom’s best receiver.
February 11th, 2022 at 7:56 pm
If AB was soinjured he could not have helped us in the playoffs anyways. Brady isn’t moving his family across country. He is either retired or playing for the Bucs.
