Rich Eisen: Hope For A Tom Brady Return Is Real
February 8th, 2022The male face of NFL Network is not one to toss around a pile of BS.
Joe is a big Rich Eisen fan and a frequent listener to The Rich Eisen Show on the SiriusXM app and Peacock.
Tom Brady opening the door last night to playing again stunned Eisen. And today Eisen explained to NFL fans in great detail that a Brady return would mean coming back to the Buccaneers — not angling to play for the 49ers or any other team and demanding the Bucs release his rights.
“No chance,” Eisen said of Brady playing for a team other than Tampa Bay. “He’s sittin’ there, there’s a team that needs him, it’s a team that he’s come to know. You’re saying there’s a chance — because he just did. That creaking noise you just heard was the retirement door open and it’s left ajar.”
So why did Brady leave that door open just a week after retiring? He could have laughed off the question but he almost sounded like he already is missing the game and thinking of playing.
Eisen said he was surprised to see a little Brett Favre in Brady and that Brady may struggle mightily as the 2022 season approaches and begins.
Joe is willing to keep hope alive. Not only is it fun, it’s certainly a Brady return is not an outlandish concept. Joe sure hopes Bucco Bruce Arians invites Brady to veteran minicamp for a visit. You know, just to say hello and smell the grass.

Maybe he just wants to skip offseason work and then rejoin for training camp… Oh crap, see, now this talk has me playing along. We need to move on and believe the retirement is real and permanent.
February 8th, 2022 at 12:57 pm
That minuscule prospect contributes to the Bucs not swinging wild for a trade to get Wilson or Carr, or even mighty little Kyler Murray.
C’mon, Tom. You now know what’s waiting for you at home. Announce your retirement is delayed and commit to helping the Bucs out in 2022!
February 8th, 2022 at 12:59 pm
I don’t believe it. He is supposed to stay close to home and run his business. Spend time with family and wife. Nope not going to happen.
February 8th, 2022 at 12:59 pm
Ben hopes the bucs uninvite Arians to minicamp. It’s the only way you’ll get your wish Joe.
February 8th, 2022 at 1:03 pm
I don’t think it will happen, but the slight possibility is just another vote for Licht to avoid the “rebuild” route. Make the kind of signings and moves that you would if Brady were still here and if he comes back, awesome. Turn key on way to Super Bowl. If not then whatever we put behind center won’t have to outperform the world just to get us to the playoffs. Keep the window open!
February 8th, 2022 at 1:07 pm
Maybe it could go down this way. If anyone here has old parents, you’ll know what Ben speaks of. It’s important to give Old family members the illusion of control. Let BA think he’s the head coach by giving him seemingly important decisions. All the while, the real power resides with the kids. Let him make seventh round draft picks, and give him play calling duty during blowouts and preseason games. It’s an effective strategy for dealing with people who have little to no mind left.
February 8th, 2022 at 1:19 pm
Pats fans can leave now.
February 8th, 2022 at 1:22 pm
This is all very interesting and somewhat clarifying. Jason Licht and Mike Greenberg need to work their cap magic with the goal of returning as much of the quality talent (e.g., Godwin, Davis, Whitehead) as possible. Draft picks should be used to backfill usable talent in key positions, such WR3, OLB, RB, and CB, and not be traded away. Use the off season to get reps to Trask and Gabbert.
Make the team as attractive as possible, and perhaps Brady, Gronk, and Suh come off the sidelines late in the spring and decide to give it one more go. If not, the team should still be competitive, and we’ll get some answers regarding the need to draft a QB in 2023.
February 8th, 2022 at 1:24 pm
If he comes back, it won’t be in Tampa. Sorry folks.
February 8th, 2022 at 1:38 pm
3rd time is a charm Brady. If not Trask
February 8th, 2022 at 1:48 pm
You know I’m coming back if TB12 does! Ah hahahaha.
February 8th, 2022 at 1:49 pm
I would not be surprised to learn that Brady has a handshake deal with BA and JL. As in, “I’m going to announce my retirement but there’s a 50/50 chance I’ll want to come back.” And they said “okay”.
February 8th, 2022 at 1:54 pm
Starting to be tired of this blablabla, please TB12, stop it…..Don´t make yourself another imbecil that makes his life a reality show……You are a billionaire already have a great life, don´t prostitute yourself for some more millions and add drama to your let´s go ppodcast or your show on ESPN…….You are not like that
February 8th, 2022 at 1:57 pm
He talked about playing to age 50. Satchel page did it.. who knows
February 8th, 2022 at 1:57 pm
What WillyG said
February 8th, 2022 at 1:58 pm
He sees that BL will most likely stay which makes him staying easier.
February 8th, 2022 at 1:58 pm
WillieG, Ben would be surprised if BA could remember such a handshake. Unable to remember, and thoroughly confused, BA would then call his perverted friend Big Ben. In a dementia induced tantrum, he then tells Big Ben about a handshake deal.
February 8th, 2022 at 1:59 pm
It’s nothing more than a PR stunt to keep his name circulating for his business ventures. He’s not pulling a Favre!
February 8th, 2022 at 2:06 pm
@1987-
It seems some of these fools just can’t quit us…
February 8th, 2022 at 2:22 pm
In TB’s interview he said he’ll come back to his decision and see how he feels in 6 months, that’s August ….
February 8th, 2022 at 2:30 pm
I’m all for giving Brady all the time he needs to decide. He probably felt he didn’t want to hold the Bucs hostage by delaying his decision and since his heart wasn’t 100% in returning, he did the responsible thing.
But, it’s so funny since he didn’t want to make a big deal of his retirement and, well, it’s kinda a big deal right about now. LOL.
Don’t blame him, he left, not on top of his game, but on top of the NFL entirely. So, retiring was premature, unless wifey was like you ain’t gettin any poon if you play.
February 8th, 2022 at 2:32 pm
A good reason to plan to go with Trask
February 8th, 2022 at 2:34 pm
This team can’t afford to operate on the assumption he’s coming back.
February 8th, 2022 at 2:36 pm
GO TO THE PATRIOTS SITE! Man these pat fans are like roaches!
February 8th, 2022 at 2:48 pm

Snook Says:
February 8th, 2022 at 1:24 pm
Based on… ?
If he wants to go elsewhere, I’d be happy to pick up a #1 pick or more… Somebody will have to offer the Bucs something.
February 8th, 2022 at 3:30 pm
Brady come back!!! U can blame it all on A.B., we can win it all and don’t wanna do it worth out ya!!😆
February 8th, 2022 at 3:49 pm
Someone needs to uninvite Ben to this site. The name is JoeBucsFan. The third keyword is fan. (Fan is short for fanatic, you know, an extremely strong supporter.) The second keyword is Bucs. The first keyword refers to the people who run this site.
No, Ben, you are not a troll. You are not a Buccaneers fan either. I have seen many of your comments now and base my conclusions on them all.
February 8th, 2022 at 5:42 pm
Is Brady merely trying to leverage Licht into making changes in-house, and then unretire in August, if he likes what he sees? That’s a pretty cruel thing to do, because it leaves the team in limbo through the draft and free agency. It would not enamor him with the rest of the team, either.
February 8th, 2022 at 6:47 pm
The waffling retirement chatter does beg the question as to why BA so adamantly announced he would be returning? Before that playoff wound could scab over, while coordinators still had HC hopes, before TB made a decision. At first I thought it was to nudge Tom to return, now I’m starting to think he was drawing a line in the sand before Licht could field a TB ultimatum.
Also, recall BA saying he was going to be calling offensive plays when he announced his return. Why? To kill BL’s image in the eyes of potential suitors or just another way to straddle TB to let him know who’s running the show.
As long as we continue on this path of speculation and wishes for returns, qb choices, and how to manage cap with bubble gum and shoe laces while resigning all of our FAs and nabbing a top tier qb, I’m sticking with this conspiracy theory.
February 8th, 2022 at 7:04 pm
Skip the off-season and spend time with his family and still play. I wouldn’t be surprised
February 8th, 2022 at 8:26 pm
Makes you wonder as soon as B Lefwich was not picked up as a coach by another team and was coming back. Here comes Tom wanting to come back. These two have a connection..if you the ring ceremony Tom and Brian sat next to each other. Im telling you Tom right now is doing all the chores around the house vacuuming, washing dishes, cutting the grass, going shopping with the wife until August just to come out and play with the boys. I mean thats what I go through. Happy wife happy life.

ChiBuc, Arians often spouts off at the mouth in much the same way as a demented nursing home resident. Brady has little to no respect for him. To suggest Arians was speaking with any authority on the matter, is just plain nonsense. For all you know, Arians could’ve been referring to his perverted friend Ben Roethlisberger.
February 8th, 2022 at 9:06 pm
If Brady comes back I believe he will have behind the scenes decision making to prevent foolish play calls like Tod Bowls blitz leading to a game killing reception by Cooper Kupp. Number 12 was gunning for an overtime comeback win only to have it evaporate because of a highly ill-advised coaching call. Tom Brady is such a deep strategic master that I find it impossible to believe he did not voice concern before the Rams game about Bowls gun slinging blitz nature. What better way to make a point than say you’re going to quit in order to knock some sense into the Bucs organization. Without him the Bucs are in deep trouble and they know it. “Risk it biscuit” is not a good fit forced upon the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. Brady is used to winning by superior strategy combined with God given talent. Currently in Tampa he is lacking the former and may be trying to fix it.
February 8th, 2022 at 9:17 pm
We know TB knows and most others should know…. If Tristan Wirfs did not get hurt the Bucs would have had a very strong chance of playing in the SB this year!
February 8th, 2022 at 10:50 pm
You will know early in free agency if buc don’t pull trigger on qb Then they know hes coming back i see him being a man of his word and fulfilling his contract
February 9th, 2022 at 12:45 am
come on tommy…just attach yourself at the hip to the wife for as long as you can take it, until you’re sick of her sh!t…then just come back and ball out..
if you’re so addicted to wifey, spend 6 months with her and 6 months with the bucs…
#LfgTomLfg
and be sure to bring gronky with ya 🙂
February 9th, 2022 at 8:43 am
Yes yes yes. Hope.
February 9th, 2022 at 12:31 pm
Brady announced retirement simply to deflect attention from himself. As he stated often, he will assess his situation in the spring. That was not enough for the media trolls to leave him alone to enjoy off season life.
OMG. Shut up. Let him live his life. Let him come back and then you can invade his privacy again.
February 9th, 2022 at 12:33 pm
Hey, thanks for reading Jim Gray! Loved you using this line on Hannity the other night. 🙂
