It seems 49ers beat guy Nick Wagoner of BSPN did some research in the wake of the 49ers choking to the Rams last night.
The 49ers have some of the best odds to win the Super Bowl for the 2022 NFL season. And take a wild guess who the 49ers are tied with?
#49ers open as +1400 to win next year’s Super Bowl, per Caesars Sportsbook. That’s tied with the Bucs for fifth best odds right now. Only Chiefs, Bills, Rams and Bengals ahead of them.

Look, Joe knows some people in the national media are pushing Teddy Bridgewater as Tom Brady’s successor with the Bucs. But come on, if the Bucs sign him he would be on his fourth team in four seasons. Please name any quarterback who was on his fourth team in as many years that guided the fourth team to the playoffs much less a Super Bowl. That’s crazy talk.
And people on Twitter are coming at Joe with Gardner Minshew. The nerve!
Joe would take Jimmy GQ over Bridgewater and Minshew any day of the week, hands down.

Not really a fan of Jimmy G because of injury BUT if he can stay healthy, He is a winner…
The best of the worst option for me would be Dalton BUT Jimmy G leaves the 49ers, he would come to a team not much different than the 49ers and this is going to be an easier division to win with all the others teams reelng!

This Bucs team isn’t winning anything next season.
The Bucs Defense simply isn’t good enough.
The NFL is a Passing League, and our Pass Defense just isn’t good enough.
It’s time to let Carlton Davis, SMB, and Dean find new teams and for us to start over in rebuilding our secondary with better cover guys/tacklers.

Purely a defensive move from the oddsmakers. If they price the Bucs as a bottom feeder and suddenly Brady announces he’s coming back (however unlikely at this point) oddsmaker heads will roll.

BA can’t do anything, never had; JL if he want to be real GM, got to separate himself from BA, and BA staff.
BA got no contract, just don’t bring him back. If you expect from a real senior citizen to BUILD the team in 2022, you are dry as a GM.
Start fresh, bring Josh McDaniels or similar…. “risk to bisk”… BA theory… right??

I like Jimmy G, but he’s flawed. He’s an excellent team leader, has a nice quick release, and while he doesn’t have a missile launcher for an arm, it’s adequate. The problem is that Jimmy G tends to throw INTs in the biggest games, and the most inopportune times. He gets a bit too excited when the stakes are high and the game is close. Part of that problem is that Jimmy G seems to have pocket awareness problems, he doesn’t sense pressure well (which is what helps lead to some of those INTs). He tends to over-correct by hesitating and holding the ball too long as he’s probably second-guessing his own decision-making.
I like the guy, but at this point I don’t see him growing out of that set of problems.

If it’s not Brady, and you can’t get Rodger or Wilson or Watson, then it should be Winston, he’s by far the best choice out there, and he’d be affordable. He already knows the system, works hard, is well liked, and is ultra productive.
If Brady didn’t become available, they were going to resign Winston anyways. Obviously if the GOAT becomes available, you take him. They were not getting limp armed Teddy Bridgewater, that is as fake as fake news gets.
The other thing about Winston, the guy just turned 28 years old, he could easily play more than a decade still.
The best part about bringing back Winston is that all the low-IQ idiots that hate Winston, that don’t know a thing about football, that are in an anti-Winston cult, hopefully they’ll prove how serious they are and practice self-immolation.

Brady is 44 yrs. Gabbert 32yrs. Imo if brady retires and arians stays he goes with gabbert and that alone will allow licht to “reload” the team.
Trask will serve as back up to gabbert and that is a promotion.
I dont see licht pulling the trigger on a high end QB trade. Or arians going with a rookie qb. Foles, minshew , keenum, trubisky or any other vet is a hard no for arians. They dont know the playbook.

They base their odds on how people are betting it, or what they expect people to think. If Brady returns I’d guess we will be top 8, without Brady, 7-9 wins.

The offense will have to carry this team. Defense will not. With the players we lose. I see no way they are going to make this secondary mess any better. Points on the board is what it will take.

I think all this means is that we have a great chance at beating out the Panthers, saints, falcons for the division with or without Brady. That would give us at worst the 4th seed in the div and top 8 (in standing, not strength) in the league. That scenario doesn’t seem far fetched given those teams.

Come on this defense is top ten and will get better with an additional interior defender (through free agency) and pass rusher (through the draft). We have one highly rated CB (Davis) and another potential shut down corner (Dean) who tends to have lapses in moments but with his speed and agility can cover anyone in the league. Our safeties are great and the linebackers are above average. Tell why this defense can’t be top 10 again. Offensively if we sign a decent game manager who can get the ball in the hands of playmakers (namely Godwin, possibly Scotty Miller) as well as potential deep threats like Evans, Grayson (don’t laugh the guy proved he’s legit), or someone else (not on the roster) why can’t this team have success and certainly win the NFC South (which is a joke).

1. BUFFALO BILLS (NO CHANGE)
Even the loss of Tre’Davious White — Buffalo’s best cornerback — can’t slow down the dominance of the Bills’ defense. The unit proved against New England in Week 16 that they can stop the run well enough to make it a balanced game, and they are elite when that happens. No defense in the league allows scoring drives at a lower rate than the Bills (28.7%), and they are doing that without a whole collection of players grading at an elite level. Safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde are the highest-graded members of the defense, and neither carries an overall PFF grade higher than 85.0.
2. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (UP 1)
The Patriots are coming off consecutive losses in which their opposition put up some points, but even in those games, the defense wasn’t overwhelmed as much as it failed to make stops in key situations. Only the Saints have allowed a touchdown drive at a lower rate than the Patriots this season (17.1%). Rookie Christian Barmore has already racked up 42 total pressures, the third-most among first-year players.
3. DALLAS COWBOYS (UP 13)
At some point, it’s time to accept that the Dallas defense isn’t just vastly improved from a year ago, but it’s actually one of the best in the NFL, driven by elite performances from several key players. Rookie Micah Parsons is one of the best defenders in the game already, and at multiple positions. Parsons has 60 total pressures despite playing as an off-the-ball linebacker most of the time.
Cornerback Trevon Diggs may not be quite as good as his league-leading interception total suggests, but those picks are the most valuable plays a defense can generate outside of also scoring on the turnover. No defense has forced more turnovers than Dallas.
4. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (UP 1)
The Saints’ season has gone off the rails since losing Jameis Winston to a season-ending injury, but their defense is as good as ever. The unit made life very tough for Miami on Monday Night Football, only to still lose by 17 because rookie Ian Book was forced to start at quarterback. New Orleans has allowed a touchdown drive at the lowest rate in the NFL this season (16.6%) and has shown impressive depth despite injuries and COVID-19 leaving the team without key players.
5. DENVER BRONCOS (UP 3)
Any defense with Vic Fangio involved as a coach is going to be good, and the Denver unit has had some elite performances this season despite lacking quality personnel in some areas. The Broncos have been forced deep into contingency plans at linebacker, with both starters lost for the season to injury, but players like Jonas Griffith are still performing well in relief. Denver ranks third in the league in touchdown drive rate and seventh in successful play rate as a defense. The team’s stable of impressive defensive backs gives it strength in vital areas to defend the pass.
6. ARIZONA CARDINALS (DOWN 4)
It would be harsh to say the wheels have fallen off this defense, but cracks have started to appear where none were earlier in the season. All of a sudden, the Cardinals are struggling to stop the run, allowing 4.5 yards per carry on average and the worst yards after contact per carry figure in the NFL. At the same time, they are keeping 2021 first-round rookie Zaven Collins — a player who might be able to do something about that — on the bench. This defense needs Chandler Jones, in particular, to be playing at his best, and his most recent elite PFF game grade came in Week 11.
7. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (NO CHANGE)
Tampa Bay’s defense continues to deal with injuries, forcing depth players to assume a greater role to varying degrees of success. They are going to be without Shaquil Barrett for the remainder of the regular season at least due to a sprained knee, putting more on the shoulders of rookie Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. The 2021 first-round pick has shown obvious physical ability but is not the pass-rusher yet that Barrett is. Barrett boasts 75 pressures and an 81.0 PFF pass-rushing grade, whereas Tryon-Shoyinka’s grade in that area is just 62.8.

I don’t want Jameis back, but I’d take him back and all the drama that entails over those three bums! Kick Gabbert to the curb, play Trask, and draft a rookie to try and beat him out. If it doesn’t work out, draft a better qb in 2023.

The Bucs have to hope for a significant second year jump out of Tryon-Shoyinka. He has athleticism to spare, the question is whether he becomes an athletic football player instead of a football playing athlete. If JTS can come around, maybe Licht can strike pay dirt on a couple of CBs and a DE, not necessarily in that order.
And yes, Godwin must come back. And maybe Brady can coax a vet or two into a Super Bowl run (providing he doesn’t retire).

Regardless if TB12 retires or not, we still need to bolster the running game with a big body who can protect when needed but push through when needed….Alabama’s Brian Robinson Jr.
and if we are rolling with Trask, we’re def going to need a great running game to fall back on if necessary.
And we all know we need CB help….Tennessee’s Alontae Taylor.
trade down our first unless some miracle DT is sitting there…then somehow work two 2nd rd. picks for the two guys Ive suggested. Thats where Im at. Work on getting a QB in 2023.

It’s the division. They know the rest of the division is going to suck. Atlanta and Carolina aren’t going anywhere. And New Orleans just lost Sean Payton. All the Bucs have to be is decent to win the division. That’s a guaranteed 4th seed or higher.
Mathematically it makes sense.
