False Alarm? Tom Brady Is Not Retiring?

UPDATED 5:17 p.m. – It seems Tom Brady’s dad isn’t buying any of the reports that his son is retiring.
What a Saturday afternoon it has been!
NBC Sports in San Francisco says the elder Brady, a resident there south of the Bay, says it’s all a big rumor, The Goat isn’t hanging up his cleats yet.
Brady Sr. has been known to call sports radio shows and to speak out on NFL matters and happenings tied to his son.
Is it possible that Brady decided to retire and didn’t tell his beloved dad? That would be very un-Brady-like. This is the same guy who almost always thanks his mom and dad during televised postgame interviews.
What a circus this is becoming. Joe suspects Brady is smiling somewhere laughing his ass off.
Below the NBC San Francisco Tweet is a similar but more specific one from Mike Giardi of NFL Network.

Brady can take all the time he needs and I hope he can come to a family decision that suits him best. That MFer is still the best in the league and he deserves all the time to make the decision best for his family. When they meet, I hope there is a sense of realization that the Goat is healthy, playing at peak level, and could be a part of another run. It pains me to see think of the sacrifice he makes for his family and hopefully they are able to work out a solid way to make it happen and “appreciate” one another. With that said, I would appreciate the opportunity to watch TB12 come back and come out firing bc he’s still so, so good.
If he hangs it up that’s ok, but the Bucs should be ready to do whatever necessary to build for a reload with Brady.
If I were a family member, friend, confidant of the Goat, my vote would be for him to keep playing football at and leading the NFL. What a stud, a true competitor, and leader. Go Bucs! Go Brady! We are not done yet!

The season ticket angle is an interesting one, and cogent. First payments for renewal are up very soon. Likely he didn’t intend to announce until after that even if he does intend. Seems like no one knows except Tom at this point.

What if this is what happened…
Brady doesn’t know what he’s going to do, but wants to have some big announcement one way or another.
So he tells his TB12 team to make a retirement video – but it’s solely as a ‘just in case’ video — they wouldn’t know that. They then leak the news to whoever, ESPN runs with it, they say on the TB12 account, ‘what a great career’, then delete it when the boss calls and says what the flying f—- are you f—— doing with my f—– f—- —- — —– Twitter —– account, you’re FIREDDDDD’.
If we see any job openings at TB12 on Monday, you’ll know I’m right.
That’s a plausible scenario, completely made up to be clear, but I could see it happen. There’s ‘solid’ insider info that says Brady is done, otherwise why is he having his team make a retirement video.

How old is Brady Sr.? 80? 75? Great info source. Hopefully, Jr. is retired. Thank god. Giselle makes more $$ than Brady does and that’s millions. On the other hand, guys, if you’re Brady, how on earth do you look at this team and believe you will be back in SB contention again this year? All three coaches can go. Godwin, Lenny and RoJo (but both are replaceable, IMHO), Jensen, JPP, Suh, Gholston, Stinnie UFA. Disappointing secondary. In a one year window for someone who doesn’t hang around for a rebuild, it’s not a good proposition.

I’m sick of the posters on this site. Even without Brady this team with a competent QB goes 12-5. Do you folks really believe that after a SB and divisional loss they would hand over the reins to Trask? Jesus FING Christ! This team has a solid O-Line, a good running game with Fournette and Bernard, excellent receivers with the potential addition of Juju SS. The D line is solid and we would most likely add depth if JPP retires, three really good safeties, one solid corner. WTF are you folks talking about? We need a competent QB to be competitive and will certainly win the NFC “crap” South. Ease up!
