Mike Evans And Chris Godwin Thank Tom Brady
January 29th, 2022The sadness is flowing at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters, as is the appreciation.
Tom Brady has left the building. Yeah, there are social media rumblings that might lead one to believe Brady isn’t really retiring. But Joe can’t go there.
Two of Brady’s closest friends on the Buccaneers sent him public Twitterings of love this afternoon as The Goat prepares to move on. You can see them below.
Others on Twitter have been shouting retirement messages at Brady, from wide receiver Cyril Grayson to Bucs legend Derrick Brooks.
It’s real. And it hurts real bad. But it’s also invigorating.
The Bucs still have a strong roster in a crappy division. They have what they need to make sure a veteran quarterback with a prayer of winning a Super Bowl is under center next season. And as for the Bucs’ looming free agents, most guys go where the money is, and the Bucs aren’t broke.

I’m hearing now that there is conflicting information, that Brady hasn’t said he’s done… I hope to goodness that is in fact the truth and ESPN is, as always, just more fake news trash….
January 29th, 2022 at 4:19 pm
Am I missing something? Brady hasn’t come out and announced retirement yet. This is just a report from a journalist. Even Profootballtalk is saying it’s currently just speculation.
January 29th, 2022 at 4:20 pm
AArrrrrgh! We are screwed. Now get Arians out too and start over. Kiffin? Might as well. New goal win division.
January 29th, 2022 at 4:22 pm
Wtf? Why is nobody letting the GOAT make his own announcement before replying. They are taking the spotlight away. If your name us t Tom Brady then hold off your Twitter response until he speaks.
January 29th, 2022 at 4:22 pm
Unless your name is Tom Brady I mean…
January 29th, 2022 at 4:25 pm
I really think he’s angling to get AB back. Just my personal opinion.
January 29th, 2022 at 4:26 pm
…His agent, Don Yee, released a statement Saturday in response to that reporting. Brady has not made a statement himself, and said he would take time with his family to make a decision after Tampa Bay’s season-ending playoff loss to the Rams last week. According to separate reports, Brady has not informed the Buccaneers he intends to retire….’

Could it be they’re jumping the gun, it’s just fake news from the fake news leader ESPN?
January 29th, 2022 at 4:27 pm
We ain’t heard a peep out of gronk since that “year 12” tweet.
January 29th, 2022 at 4:27 pm
Would be hilarious if they were wrong. Rappaport career wouod be done. NFL network is showing Brady Suoerbowl highlights.
Cmon TB12. Stay on and spite the experts. Lol
January 29th, 2022 at 4:28 pm
Rodgers watch
January 29th, 2022 at 4:28 pm
I am assuming if Mike, and thank Godwin are sharing their good-byes to Tom then I would assume he is retiring? if not, awkward.
Let the rebuilding begin, ugh!
January 29th, 2022 at 4:30 pm
MoHawg – it wouldn’t be awkward, they’d just say, HOLY SH@# WE JUST GOT BACK THE GOAT!
Do you really think anyone else would care that they said, you’re the best on social media, like that would cause a conflict?
January 29th, 2022 at 4:30 pm
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if in an effort to spite the media claiming otherwise that he does give it one more go and plays until he’s 45 like he’s said for about 10 years now? Not banking on it but wouldn’t it be nice?

It just seems like yesterday that Brady took over for an injured Drew Bledsoe during the Jets game. The Patriots went 5-11 the previous season and were en-route to going 0-2 to begin the current season. Prior to the game, Bill Belichick and his OC Charlie Weis visited the Jets coaching staff, and intimated that they were expecting to be fired.
Who in their right mind expected pick #199 from the 2000 draft to change their fortunes? Brady took that team to the Super Bowl as underdogs. The Rams were expected to win that game and establish themselves as a dynasty. A dynasty was born, it just happened to be the other team. And of course, down to about 40 seconds, deep in their own territory and no timeouts, Madden mentioned to the TV audience that he expected the Patriots to fall on the ball and take the game into OT. When they didn’t, Madden just said flatly, “I don’t agree with what they’re doing.” About 20 seconds later, Madden added “Now I like what they’re doing”. Brady led the Patriots on a march up the field, all the while minding the clock and remaining composed. “I like this Tom Brady, he’s as cool as a cucumber.” Brady led them into easy FG range a few second later. Game.

The people in the today’s media generally have no respect. They are really not all that different from their counterparts in the old “yellow jounalism” days of the 1890s. Competition dictates all. The reporter who scoops all others wins the day. (That’s right it is all for a fleeting moment of recognition. Though, with enough “scoops” in hand eventually the reporter gets a raise in salary.) 😆 What else is new?
January 29th, 2022 at 4:34 pm
I wonder if he sits a season then plays a year or 2 in Miami before retiring for good. He will miss the game too much and he did not look like a guy walking off the field for the last time like Breed did. Seems fishy.
January 29th, 2022 at 4:37 pm
…The Buccaneers hoped to make an emphatic pitch to persuade Brady to play one more year, but Tampa Bay recognizes that that effort is not expected to have an impact…
——–
So Arians says he doesn’t know anything about this and the Bucs haven’t pitched him yet on how they’re going to keep the team together, yet the article says Brady is retiring in part because he knows the team isn’t going to be able to be kept together.
That doesn’t add up…
Why would someone who is as tight-lipped as Brady let this leak on a Saturday afternoon?
If it is true, then I bet you anything, its some jerk working for TB12, probably on a retirement video as part of a big announcement that leaked it.
If we don’t hear from Brady in the next hour or two, then that confirms he is retiring, he’ll just stay silent until he’s ready to do a big announcement.
January 29th, 2022 at 4:39 pm
As I just wrote in another post, Michael silver just reported that Brady himself called Jason licht and said he hasn’t made a decision yet.
January 29th, 2022 at 4:40 pm
“Brady angling to get AB back”……….BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
January 29th, 2022 at 4:40 pm
Don’t be sad Joe. Look at the bright side.
This is both the first time in JBF history that you can post about a Bucs playoff loss and a Bucs HOF QB retiring lol
January 29th, 2022 at 4:42 pm
Minutes ago Brady’s dad told a reporter that his son is not retiring…
January 29th, 2022 at 4:42 pm
Brady just announced he is playing one more year, was what I dreamt about last night
January 29th, 2022 at 4:45 pm
True?
January 29th, 2022 at 4:45 pm
Rodgers will not come to Bucs.. He will not want to be compared to Brady week after week…
With Brady gone; why would Godwin resign ? Jensen ? Fournette ?
Glaziers should clean house-starting with Arians , Leftwich (if he’s not gone to Jags) & of course BOWLES-lest we forget him of all
January 29th, 2022 at 5:00 pm
captivajim — If Brady is gone, you really only have to have one down year, it’s not like you must be a 3-14 team for the next decade.
So you resigned Godwin for sure.
Jensen? That’s questionable, but you might be more likely to resign Cappa.
Basically you resign anyone who might help you in 2-5 years from now, and cut everyone else, take your cap hit this offseason, as much as possible.
January 29th, 2022 at 5:02 pm
If he does retire, we need to be very appreciative of what he has done for us. At the same time, there are a couple of good QB’s that might be looking for a new home. Maybe trade for Russell Wilson, who wants out of Seattle. Great arm and accurate on the deep throw. Would be fun to watch in a BA offense.
January 29th, 2022 at 5:11 pm
Rod Munch ;; I said ” WHY Would Godwin resign”

Sorry, misread you. I’m part tard, words don’t always read write 2 me.
Anywho, why would Godwin resign? That would be Licht telling him the plans. Personally it should be, we’ll resign Winston, you know, when you had your greatest success.
But the other option would be to simply tag him again. The Bucs have that option, it’s like $19m this time, which is probably what you’d pay him yearly anyways.
January 29th, 2022 at 5:23 pm
If I don’t see Gronk’s tweet thanking him, I won’t believe it. He will mot leave Gronk hanging just like that.
January 29th, 2022 at 6:38 pm
“Minutes ago Brady’s dad told a reporter that his son is not retiring”
Not quite. He said he hasn’t decided.
January 29th, 2022 at 6:43 pm
Damn, sad he’s going out due to one of the worst defensive calls in NFL playoff history. Good job, Bowles.
January 29th, 2022 at 7:21 pm
Brady has probably already talked to these guys. Why else would they send farewells?
January 29th, 2022 at 11:47 pm
Thank you TB12 for bringing the respect that our players deserved. God Bless

I am still in the denial stage of grief at the thought of Brady retiring. I’ve been a fan since he replaced Bledsoe in the game that PassingThru so eloquently recounted.
I still hold out a glimmer of hope that he continues his career even if it isn’t with the Bucs. I speculated in earlier posts that it would make sense for him to play for the 49ers (if the Bucs didn’t win the SB in Feb, which of course they won’t). I still think this is possible, especially if the 49ers lose today and more so if Jimmy GQ plays poorly.
Joe, is there a way I can view my earlier posts?
January 30th, 2022 at 11:30 am
He’s retired. Wonder how this team will look next year.
January 30th, 2022 at 11:44 am
Killian and Steven007 have it right. Why is everyone memorializing Tom Brady ? He hasn’t confirmed it. It ain’t over until it’s over, said Yogi Berra.
This would be another great Brady comeback ! Everyone saying goodbye and he decides to stay ! This could be a trick play ! Say it ain’t so Tom. LET’S GO !!!!!
January 30th, 2022 at 11:50 am
Its not official yet, TB12 one more SB!!! Come on man you bring my whole family together for your games!! We been watching for 22 years!!! Ill never forget the beat games ever!!! YOU WON THAT GAME AGAINST LA, ONE MORE SB YOUR STILL ELITE!!!
January 30th, 2022 at 1:13 pm
So sad denial its over oh yeah like the water boy movie oh no we suck again
January 30th, 2022 at 5:47 pm
Tom will hold a news conference when he retires. He had more class than most
January 30th, 2022 at 6:48 pm
Brady himself doesn’t know. AB isn’t ever coming back. The only contract he might see is week to week.
