“I Feel Pretty Good About Shaq And JPP”
January 14th, 2022Bucco Bruce Arians was very upbeat about his bookend edge rushers returning from injury to play Sunday against the Eagles: Pro Bowler and Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul.
“I feel pretty good about Shaq and JPP,” Arians said, noting he’s not as confident in the returns of Leonard Fournette and Lavonte David.
Joe wrote before Christmas that David’s Lisfranc sprain would keep him out of the first playoff game. Sadly, Joe keeps hearing the same thing about David’s bad foot.
Arians said JPP’s bad shoulder won’t heal from the rest its had the past month, but it might be improved from the rest and he “looks good.”
Regardless, Joe is confident that Shaq and JPP will mean better run defense, with better play on the edge funneling rushers inside to the Bucs’ strengths. That’s a damn good thing against the NFL’s best rushing team.

The weather has to play a roll in whether or not LVD and Lenny play. Sloppy field doesn’t bode well for those injuries. This is going to be a tough game.

they woke up in the post season last year. Lets hope they can do it again. please!

Great news about Shaq & JPP.
I did not expect LVD back. I’d be surprised if Lenny is not ready to go though

Sounds like a ploy with Lenny.
All I’ve heard is he looks good out there.
Unless he reinjured it he will play.

Arians mentioned that both Fournette and LVD are game-time decisions. I’m also inclined to believe that LVD will be out, Lisfranc sprains take time to heal due to low blood flow to that part of the foot. Maybe Arians is disguising his intentions, that LVD won’t play and that BA won’t admit it, and perhaps he’s sounding pessimistic about Fournette but perhaps BA is more optimistic than he’s letting on. This is the time of year when coaches are fairly opaque, if not deceptive about injury status.

Do you guys do the Podcast anymore? Used to be two a week
January 14th, 2022 at 2:38 pm
Wait, I thought Fournette was a full go, could have been playing last week except for he was on the IR…
Wow, that’s a huge deal, in particular if it’s windy and wet. Brady is going to be doing swing passes and checkdowns to the RB all day. Are we really going to be reduced to having to rely on Le’Veon Bell as the pass catcher, and bringing in John Brown to run screens? Wow.

Hope the field does not get too sloppy with the forecasted rain and wind.

This has all the signs of a tougher than expected game for a 2 vs 7 seed.
Weird weather. Lots of injuries in a place of the other teams strength. Young hungry coach vs old coach. Young hungry QB vs old QB.
Backups better come ready cause we’re going to need them to step up. Eagles are no joke.
We’ve gotta run the ball outside the tackles ourselves and keep them off the field and end drives in touchdowns.

This is the season of adversity, who is out and can we scheme to cover the lost of a certain player, well we are 13 wins and 4 losses and I’ll take our changes of making another SUPER BOWL run against any play-off team! PERIOD …GO BUCS!

These guys need another week of recovery not sure if I’d be letting them play this week. Hope we get through this with a healthy team!

I’m not that worried about Philly. We should be able to beat them at least in an ugly game without trying to force the walking wounded prematurely into battle.
Jalen Hurts is one dimensional. He is not Kyler Murray, just doesn’t have the same vision, anticipation, and arm talent. He is deadly in the running game, but not at the same level of Lamar Jackson in that area either.
