Less Hurry-Up And More Ke’Shawn Vaughn
January 13th, 2022It’s a big day at One Buc Palace for a lot of reasons.
First, with Ronald Jones’ ankle still messed up, the practice return of Leonard “Playoff Lenny” Fournette is massive. If Lenny’s hamstring isn’t all there when the Bucs test it, then Sunday will feature a healthy diet of second-year man Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Le’Veon Bell, who looks pretty good but isn’t what he used to be.
This week on the Buccaneers Radio Network, Arians continued to rave about Vaughn.
Joe is always struck by the passion and love in Arians’ voice when he references Vaughn. “Caught it the best he’s caught it,” Arians said of Vaughn against the Panthers on Sunday.
Vaughn caught two balls, certainly nothing of the spectacular variety. But Joe can see the confidence growing in Vaughn’s hands. He seems back to where he was in 2020, when his rookie hands served him well early in the season.
As for Bell, Arians didn’t mention is running ability but praised his hands and pass blocking. “That’s a good combination for us in this offense.
Savvy Bucs fans know the Bucs ran a lot of hurry-up and no huddle in midseason and then that style faded away recently. Why did it seemingly disappear? Young receivers means less hurry-up, Arians explained.
This is a big reason why Joe considers veteran speedster Breshad Perriman an upgrade to Cyril Grayson. No-huddle is no issue with Perriman, who knows the offense despite limited action this season (he was here in 2019).
Fans have seen Tyler Johnson struggle at times with details dating back to training camp, so Joe gets why the hurry-up/no-huddle isn’t the best fit for him. But with Mike Evans now 100 percent, Perriman and the revival of Scotty Miller, Joe thinks the Bucs will be more comfortable with up-tempo play.
They may not be interested in that against the ball control Eagles and in the rain, but Joe’s looking ahead to a potential Cowboys or 49ers matchup in the next round of the playoffs.

I could see us leaving this game with a “W” but also with another round of injured players.

1. Eliminate “so” from the first sentence.
2. Change “is” to isn’t after “hamstring.”
3. Hire an editor.

Bucs can’t face the 49ers next, if they both win the Bucs would get the LA/Ari winner, no?

We need Tyler Johnson scotty Miller or Perrimen to have a big game. Can’t just be Evans and Gronk.

Joe p!ss me off–one game at a time–stop planning your sb party
January 13th, 2022 at 11:09 am
ess hurry up….i.e. Brady.
and more KV……..who has a very, very small body of work.
I DON’T THINK SO.
What ever you’re smoking; i’ll take some.

Should Joe start writing draft stories instead?

Less Ke’Shawn, more Gio Bernard–proven, versatile, and reliable.

I’ve already talked to the caterer, for the Bucs Super Bowl party.
Just trying to beat the rush.

I keep reading posts about rest guys, for what next season? If Bucs don’t play their best then they don’t move on. You should only sit a guy if.he is incapable of doing his job.

firethecannons,
Why not talk Super Bowl Party? I love the swag! We’re defending champs. We have TB12. We have the best win-loss record in the NFL. Like Less Grossman says, “Act like it’s hanging past your knees.”
Is it obnoxiously and unrealistically optimistic? YES! But we’re the Kings. Enjoy it.
The very word “fan” is a derivative of “fanatical”. Emerge from the Den of Depression and, like your moniker says, Fire the Cannons!!!

Heavy rain and wind 20-30 mph. Play Bucs defense up and in the box all day with our very good run defense. The run game is gonna be large strategy for both these teams.
F#ck Philly in the playoffs! “NO MORE VET!!!”-Key 2001 post game

Joe-if 49ers beat Cowboys and Bucs win, wouldn’t Bucs play winner of Rams/Cardinals game?
January 13th, 2022 at 1:13 pm
Yes Bucs would not play 49ers I the next round…only if they make it to the NFC Championship

Ke’Shawn’s body of work in 2021 consists of 4 catches in 8 targets for 26 yds. Good to hear BA say that Vaughn “Caught it the best he’s caught it” but I really want to see him do it in a game. In running the ball he’s 180 yds in 36 attempts (a very nice 5.0 YPC average), but take away that 55-yarder that he got & his average drops to 3.6 YPC. That’s Peyton Barber territory, except that Barber caught the ball better.
I’m pulling for Lenny to make a full return Sunday, backed up by Le’Veon Bell. Those are our 2 big dogs with playoff experience. And they can both catch & block. Wow, a 3fer.

If the forecast holds, this will be a muddy, ground and pound game. The trenches will bear the brunt of the work. Hoping our elite run defense out performs their elite run offense.
Praying for no injuries
Curious about how well the field will be prepared for next weeks contest. At least most of the field damage will be between the hash marks.

gp, FYI I made good on our bet.
January 13th, 2022 at 2:13 pm
Gil reliable? He’s been out eight weeks and has hardly played. Give me Vaughn. This guy can bust some big plays. It really keeps the defense off guard when you have a player like Vaughn.

With heavy rain and wind Sunday, gonna be all about Lenny, Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Le’Veon Bell. AND hopefully Scotty Miller. Who could forget those awesome speed demon end around runs he had last week. Don’t care what anyone says, but BELL is a bada$$. That dude will pound out 5 or 6 yards a carry consistently with our great O-line. If our D kicks butt, we should easily win this game just running it. GO BUCS!

There is zero possibility the Bucs will play the 49’s in the divisional round of the playoffs. The no. 2 seed will never match the no. 6 seed unless the no. 6 seed defeats the no. 1 seed in which case they both meet in the conference finals. That’s just how it works.

TOM MAY BE THE MASTER OF THE 2 MINUTE DRILL, (oops) but all his teammates were hustling massively. I was amazed at how Mike et.al were moving so fast to get into position. It was awesome!
January 13th, 2022 at 5:38 pm
This was especially in that Jets game, I forgot to say.

Hurry up is great since it means Brady is the one calling the plays, and it mostly bypasses Leftwich. Seemingly every game lately they start out slow, go to a hurry up, where Brady is calling it at the LOS, and suddenly they look like the Bucs offense. Amazing timing if you ask me.
