Richard Sherman Gives Thanks

Transition.
This time, the mind didn’t control the body. But the mind is hardly dead.
Bucs defensive back Richard Sherman, earlier this week placed on injured reserve, seemed to be calling it a career on Twitter — for his playing days. But he’s not done yet.
As he did once earlier this year when Bucs defensive backs coach Kevin Ross had The Sickness, Sherman is to be a part of the Bucs’ coaching staff offering his wisdom in the secondary room through the playoffs.
Didn’t go how I wanted it to but I’m grateful for the opportunity to strap it up again! Look forward to continuing this journey with my teammates and coaching my butt off. Thank you for all the support this season. The body gave all it had and I’m grateful.

Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians has raved about how Sherman made a difference with defensive backs. Arians loves the fact that he has a wise old bird in Sherman to assist the young Bucs’ secondary.
Think about it: every starter in the secondary is still under a rookie contract. At least for a handful of weeks.
Joe doubts Sherman remains as a coach after this postseason. Sherman said he wants to stay in the game as a broadcaster or an analyst. Just listening to his weekly podcast, it seems Sherman has a deep interest in the business world.
If Sherman plays his cards right, and he’s a smart man with a degree from Stanford, he can make as much or more money in business than being a coach, and work a lot less and not have to uproot his family every couple of years. Still, it would be cool if he hung around and worked with Todd Bowles and Arians next season.

I always remember after Seattle lost to NE in the Super Bowl the first thing Sherman did was shake Brady’s hand.

Yeah, those Stanford jocks are legit. I worked with one (baseball pitcher) and went to grad school with another (football OT). Both were very bright guys.

Signing him just to have enough bodies to field a defense has proven to be worth it just because of the knowledge and experience he is bestowing on all the young DBs.
So glad he’s sticking around through the playoffs to help

A key note is that he could just fly back to California and cash his checks. Instead he’s going to stay with his team and help wherever he can. That’s the signs of a good pro!

Hey Sherman, at least please help get 23 out of Tampa. He gets burned so many times. I watch big plays after big plays that goes against us and he is right there letting it happen. Don’t the coaches see that on film?? I don’t mention his name on purpose…he’s not worthy. Terrible CB from a weak college team…

Glad we signed him. He’s certainly been helpful to the the young guys. A great presence in the locker room too. Every little bit helps when you’re the Defending Champs!

Sherman is unable to play but is helping the Bucs. defense to play better. He is very well liked on the Bucs, team and I am happy that he is doing everything possible to help the Bucs, to win everything!

I love the fact that he didn’t just take his money and go home, he’s going to stick around until the end, and help however he can. When former stars can no longer go, they can still contribute, and it’s not like he’s a Bucs icon who might feel an attachment to the team, he’s just a FA hire, and literally no one would have given him a hard time if he just packed up and left.
