Interesting Tom Brady Passing Chart
January 4th, 2022Joe thinks it is cool to see a quarterback’s passing chart. Kind of gives you an idea of where in the defense the quarterback was targeting and with what types of passes.
In Sunday’s win over the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets, Brady was death by a 1,000 papercuts. He largely just pecked away at the Jets defense like a bird.
Mostly, per the NextGen Stats chart below, when Brady wanted to throw short he went after the right side of the Jets’ defense. When Brady wanted to throw long, he often targeted the left.
Was that because of where the receivers were lined up (you know, the immortal Cyril Grayson is good at deep balls whereas Tyler Johnson seems to be more of a short-range target) or how the Jets’ defense was lined up? Joe isn’t sure.
Tom Brady Pass Chart 🎯
Brady was effective targeting receivers under 10 air yards, completing 24 of 29 passes for 184 yards and 2 TDs (+6.3% CPOE).
Brady leads the NFL this season in completions (353), yards (2,726) and TDs (27) on u10 air yard passes.#TBvsNYJ | #GoBucs pic.twitter.com/T6cpXPjryE

Just curious. In the battle for MVP, how many weekly awards has Brady won this year versus the other contenders to include Rogers?

Biggest thing that bums me with this AB crap is Brady’s incredible performance went largely unnoticed

I keep wondering what has happened with Scotty Miller. He was a part of the offense last year and he played good, an offense that threw enough deep passes. He caught some deep balls, he drew some flags and the opponents Defense had that to account for. This year Miller is not even on the field, he is playing like 3 snaps. What is going on

Maybe this is false memory but it does seem like he throws to the running backs and screens to the left more than the right.

I mean in every game

They’re keeping Miller on ice so if we play the Packers in the playoffs, we can sneak him on the field and use him as a deep ball decoy.

Some good news IMO cause we just suck against saints. Buddy just sent it to me.
No scenario where bucs play saints
The game next week of rams vs 49ers
If 49ers win saints out of playoffs no matter what
Saints need to win And therefore rams need to win for saints to get in
If that happened rams 2 seed and saints 7 and they would play each other
Great stuff. I hate the saints.

Joe, a few weeks back you wrote that an astonishing 20 % of Bucs offensive snaps took place in the red zone. Is that still true today?
Go Bucs!

Miller tore the tendon that comes down to his big toe. I think that’s behind him, no idea why he doesn’t play

Teams are defending against the long ball and giving up the short yardage plays. Miller is a deep threat WR where Greyson is more of a yards after the catch player.

Sorry both are deep threats but he’s better than Miller I love Scotty. But he lacks agility. Both are gonna have to make plays for us go bucs!!!

Is it me or does Gronk seem disinterested? He obviously played great but didn’t seem the excitement or spark when he appears to be jacked up, he’s been missing this the past few weeks. I wonder if he thought they could repeat and see’s the writing on the wall knowing he’s done after this or maybe it’s simply his hot girlfriend stopped bleaching her backside. Has anyone else noticed this?

“He largely just pecked away at the Jets defense like a bird.”
And that is the formula that will carry the Bucs to LA and another SB!
If the D gets healthy…mainly LVD and JPP…and we can limit some reps for Vea and Suh and give the giants a bit of a rest…
IF the OLine plays like it did the second half…we are golden!
Playoff Lennie can now catch the ball out of the backfield and should be healthy.
Bell is the best receiving back in football right now. Put aside his holdouts etc and he’d be HOF consideration.
Playoff runs harder…Bell has more patience and cuts better…they are an incredibly complimentary pair who can both be on the field at the same time.
And so here it is guys…Brady picks D’s apart like he did with his smurf receivers and great receiving RB’s…and then to imitate the late great legend…BOOM
Someone like CG or Even Gronk or ME down a seam sneaks past a safety. Get 2 or 3 of those to go with moving the chains and a solid running game from Fournette and Bell and a reasonably healthy defense……
Call me the cockeyed optimist but I like where we are right now. I’m glad the AB thing happened…I think that will unite the locker room rather than divide it as he might have if he stayed.

MILLER inquires….
Those wondering about Scotty, he had bad turf toe most the year and since he’s been active has hardly played. I believe Perriman and Johnson are just better. Miller runs a go route. That’s it. He has not shown he can do anything else and he’s small. He’s not shifty & allusive, he’s just fast.
Grayson is faster and bigger. And has shown some other routes in the small sample size we have seen
Darden and Miller are going to be fighting for a roster spot next year

@clod – that’s because he can complete those throws faster to his left, since he’s right-handed. Much more natural movement.

Youngbucs . That show do look like the no risk it no biscuit offense lol 😆 😂!! That’s been the offense since last year when Brady had 12 picks , I told you they change the offense !! Lol 😆 🤣
January 4th, 2022 at 11:00 pm
It was a good coaching decision to change that no risk it no biscuit offense to the Patriots type of offense !! Good job BA !! That’s not a knock on Brady to me Brady is still one of the best quarterback to ever play. But that no risk it no biscuit offense is out dated !!

You throw deep to open up underneath — also you throw deep to complete deep balls, and since Brady is leading the league in yards and TDs, it’s working.

Thanks for the breaking news on Tom Brady from… 2003. This has always been Brady’s style, it is like a classic chess grandmaster, make a series of seemingly innocuous moves while you maneuver into the middle game–then throw in a killer shot that flips the game to your advantage.
