Now how the hell is Mike Shanahan supposed get Joey Galloway and Santana Moss on the field at the same time if Chucky couldn’t figure out how to play Galloway and Antonio Bryant at the same time?
Perhaps that question will be answered in September.
Galloway, who turns 39 in the fall, just signed with the Redskins, per the Washington Post. One would have to believe he looked pretty good in a workout to get signed, albeit surely for no guaranteed money.
Very impressive for a guy his age.
And to think the free-spending Skins could have had Michael Clayton last week for, say, a seventh round pick in 2013.

My god, Redskins are flippin desperate for WR’s! Galloway is turning 89 this year!!
For how bad there receiving core is they’re stupid for passing on T.O., if no one signs T.O. before training camp, I expect him to sign and play by week 3.
If Clayton gets traded or cut soon, mark my words he will be a Redskin…

Joey is my guy I am a OSu alum but he did hard time sniffing the field for the steelers and was very ineffective for the Patriots, this just goes to show you that TO will not be there and is going to have a hard time singing anywhere in my opinion

Galloway has done for a few years now. I don’t see him making the team. He had a couple of good years with TB, but he sure went downhill fast.
One of the best attributes of Gruden was that he got rid of players before they fell off the face of the earth (Quarles, Rice, Kelly, Galloway, B. Johnson) He may not have been that classy doing it, but he was proven right on all of them.

Not surprisingly Tampa2 and RM misunderstand the “win now” philosophy. Gruden and Allen had the “win now” philosophy. Worked some times. Failed sometimes. Gruden’s record with the Bucs was just above .500. 60-57 in seven seasons, including a 3-2 mark in the playoffs. I am a Gruden fan and he deserves a lot of credit, but to be fair you have to account for the other side of the coin, which was the occasional 4-12 season and the repeated first round playoff exit.
Contrast that to the Colts, the classic “build through draft” team under Polian. The Colts have been 131-61 since drafting Manning. I know Manning is one of the best of all time, but think about it for a second Since drafting guys like Manning and E. James, the Colts have not had a top draft pick. Probably not a pick in the top 20 (not sure about actual stat), yet they have always been competitive. Why? This is a quote from Polian (ask yourself if he is describing Gruden/Allen “win now” philosophy):
“When you reach for need or the perception of need, I think you make a mistake,” said Polian of the first round pick. “We’re looking for the best football player we can find.”
Gaines Adams come to mind? Dexter Jackson? BY the way, the Colts excel at late round drafting (obviously_, an area where Gruden/Allen really struggled. Why? Gruden/Allen drafted for “potential” over “production,” another thing Dom has changed.
To understand “build through draft,” just listent to Dom. Dom said recently that one of his role models was Polian. Now I know even Polian and the Colts take some free agents, but the emphasis is absolutely on the draft — the antithesis of the “win now” approach. And even Dom says (in this very article) that the Bucs will take free agents, but just not over the draft.
I am not in any way trying to compare the Bucs to the Colts or Polian to Dom, but why is everyone so upset by watching the Bucs try to follow an incredible example? Why are the Colts a genius organization but the Bucs are idiots when they are following the same approach?
Dare I say ridiculous impatience by Bucs fans?

The Colts have won 1 SB during that time. Same as TB. SD also does similar things as Indy. Wonder how many SBs they’ve won. That’s right. 0. I want TB to approach things like NO. Draft well, add some key free agents and make smart trades. This whole all in on draft principal is doomed for failure.
