Jon Gruden Talks To Derek Carr “Pretty Much Every Day”
December 28th, 2021Several Bucs legends were interviewed for the recently-aired John Lynch: A Football Life feature on NFL Network, including JoeBucsFan columnist Ira Kaufman, The Sage of Tampa Bay Sports.
Lynch’s Super Bowl head coach Jon Gruden was not among them, and Joe fielded a handful of emails asking why Gruden seemed to be canceled.
The answer is obvious. Chucky is out of the league, fired by the Raiders in October after some of his insulting and insensitive old emails were uncovered during a league investigation. Because of the content, some consider Gruden is a racist, though many of his former players say that’s ridiculous.
Regardless, Joe re-realized a lot of fans remain interested in Chucky’s whereabouts and activities, so this post is for them.
Joe was watching the Raiders-Broncos game on Sunday and the following exchange was delivered in the third quarter of the CBS broadcast. Play-by-play man Greg Gumbel and Tiki Barber had a standard pregame, production-meeting chat with Las Vegas quarterback Derek Carr, and a comment from Carr piqued their interest.
Greg Gumbel: Hey, did you find it interesting, Derek Carr says he talks to Jon Gruden pretty much every day?
Tiki Barber: I found it very interesting that he did and I kinda slipped it in, ‘Like he’s not coaching you is he?’ And he’s like, ‘No, no, no, he talks to me like he’s family.’ They developed such a good relationship over the couple of seasons that he was under him that he still feels like he’s a confidant, someone he can reach out to and get some advice.
So it seems Carr’s former head coach remains his mentor, which should make Roger Goodell very happy. When Gruden isn’t coaching up Carr by phone, he’s busy with his lawsuit against the NFL and Goodell.

Synder and WFT gets protected and Gruden is the scapegoat. Btw if you ever played football the stuff that coaches say is beyond insane and Gruden is no different. Sh**posting should not be a death penalty. So the nfl protects Snyder and Payton, but crucifies Gruden by leaking old private emails. I hope Gru has good attorneys.

I hope Gruden brings up as much dirt and gets as much money as he can from the dirtbags that run the nfl.
December 28th, 2021 at 8:43 pm
I hope he effs Herr Goodell
December 28th, 2021 at 8:56 pm
I see no way that Gruden’s Lawsuit will ever see a courtroom!
No way the NFL wants all that stuff to come out.
Jon Gruden was our customer, we cleaned his roof!
He was very nice to us, unlike some other really rich and powerful clients were.
I hope he socks it to the NFL for making him a scapegoat.
December 28th, 2021 at 9:01 pm
But Gruden told off-color jokes a decade ago in a private email. How can anyone talk to this direct descendant of Hitler?
December 28th, 2021 at 9:08 pm
By the time the lawsuit is adjudicated, the NFL will owe Gruden the value of a team.
December 28th, 2021 at 9:10 pm
BTW, what a pick Josh Johnson turned out to be for Gruden. The guy is still playing, looks way better than he has at any other point of his career. He should get a job as a backup somewhere next year, and to people that think he’s old, he’s 9-years younger than Brady. Who would have thought he’d be the last Gruden-Bucs draft pick to still be playing.
December 28th, 2021 at 9:24 pm
What happened to Jon Gruden was disgusting. That Davis weirdo has no backbone. Alleged rape, child abuse, other acts of violence, “welcome back!” An e-mail intended to be private? Erasure.
But they messed with the wrong guy. Gruden will make them pay.
December 28th, 2021 at 9:35 pm
Hey boomers that still cannot understand why he was fired.
This is why you never send personal conversations over work email/microsoft teams. EVERYTHING YOU SEND OVER IT IS COMPANY PROPERTY. NOT YOURS
If you want to Sh!tpost and tell politically incorrect jokes for the love of god make it over private messages. John Gruden wouldn’t have been a scape goat if he did that.

I’m still sore over how they (the commish), went after Gruden. How come only one player has said something negative about Gruden? That being Keshawn J. And they went after him for sayin Sh.. 10 yrs ago? Come on Man!!! I guess then about 70% of us are guilty of sayin some off anchor crap many yrs ago. I Hope Gruden wins his case But..he won’t. They are gonna throw hordes of Lawyers and delays at him while his Atty fees pile up by the hours. Delays will be the NFL’s game. His firing makes moderate guys like me think about going all the way extreme right!!

I’m glad every email I ever sent , every text I ever sent and every phone call I made to a friend in confidence hasn’t been revealed. I bet most of you hope the same thing. Hypocrites. Who cast that first stone? Certainly not I.
December 28th, 2021 at 10:30 pm
Off subject but Brady appears miffed that the NFL warned him about throwing his Microsoft Surface during the Saints game. Tom would be perfect at being the head of the Players Union when he retires from playing. He would be very tough on the owners. 🙂

^Is there a law that says companies have to be complete pr!cks when they find a funny email? I suppose there’s no grey area for leniency, right?
Well, actually there are companies that do just that. They’re never going to waster their time digging up old emails…..unless they’re on some kind of witch hunt. Ee’s a witch! Burn ‘im!
December 28th, 2021 at 10:48 pm
I hope Chucky doesn’t settle out of court. I he shows interest in really exposing the N.F.L. commission just the same way they did to him. Hopefully, this isn’t about money but principles. Just like Al Davis used to. Just win baby.

Aceofaer sending emails through the company is not in confidence idiot. Every year at my job i have to take a training and acknowledge that emails sent through company property is subjected to be viewed and a fireable offense if its worthy of it. I also have to acknowledge if i go on my social media accounts and send things from company property they feel is unacceptible i can get fired. Why are you so dumb to not understand this? I have had co workers fired because they needed work done to a company laptop and the IT department found porn on it. Again idiot, sending emails through nfl accounts is not in confidence. Why is that so hard to understand?

@Dew “Brady appears miffed” ? You’re imagining things.
December 28th, 2021 at 11:49 pm
I still got the SB DVD with LOTS of Jon Gruden on it.
December 28th, 2021 at 11:51 pm
I’ll add you CAN’T erase that!
December 29th, 2021 at 12:25 am
webster – Gruden didn’t work for the NFL at the time, wasn’t sending anything from an NFL email. Maybe know the basics before you eagerly participate in a public lynching.

Game, set, match to Mr. Munch.
December 29th, 2021 at 1:51 am
Getting cancelled is fast becoming a medal of honor. Howard suspects that in the end it will enhance Grudens legendary status.
December 29th, 2021 at 1:58 am
Chucky delivered tampas first Super Bowl victory.
Forever grateful.

Anything you
say online follows you forever.
It doesn’t matter if it was 10 or 20 years ago.
It doesn’t matter if you miss
spoke or if autocorrect screwed you over.
Welcome to cancel culture.

There’s a difference between being a grude loud mouth A hole, and a raceist. I mean what do you expect coming out of the mouth of Chucky?
December 29th, 2021 at 8:23 am
Gruden’s emails were purposely targeted and made public. His lawsuit will reveal the truly horrible emails, and the NFL will 1. be enormously embarrassed, and 2. pay Jon a freaking boatload of cash.
December 29th, 2021 at 8:49 am
I hope Gruden sodomizes Goodell so hard that Goodell speaks in a soprano voice the rest of his life.
December 29th, 2021 at 8:50 am
Jon Gruden did nothing wrong
December 29th, 2021 at 10:12 am
Everyone says embarrassing stuff about their bosses, other people. Enough. I think Gruden is probably a prick in a lot of ways but don’t think he’s the demon he’s made out to be.
December 29th, 2021 at 10:55 am
oddly enough josh johnson fits more into the nfl as an nfl prototypical quarterback now than he did when gruden drafted him…
he literally fits into what the league as a whole does more and better now, than what the league quarterbacks did on a grand scale back then…
there are a few handfuls of quarterbacks from back then who would adapt better to how the position of quarterback is now played…to bad they were drafted in sort of a different era
December 29th, 2021 at 10:59 am
yeah seems like they really railed chucky…
and waited precisely until he and the raiders were getting their sh!t together to make a real run at the division…
if all the chucky x ruggs stuff didn’t happen i could see their season record say 2-3 games better…
their season kinda got derailed – and that was expected…
almost like what’s going on with the bucs right now – the season is unhinging and sort of derailing right in front of our eyes…
however, we are not totally derailed – we are hitting more what i’d call speed bumps – it will be interesting to see as a whole how we handle those bumps and bruises – and if we can bounce back as a team
December 29th, 2021 at 1:44 pm
[No sane or decent person supports what you suggest. Bucs fans like and respect Chucky for what he did for the team: Win a Super Bowl. People that worked for Chucky including local icons swear he is not what you believe him to be. It’s not for Joe to judge what is in his soul. A higher authority will on his judgment day. Chucky is jack@ss for what he wrote in the emails. He is also a Super Bowl champion with the Bucs. — Joe]

^How much do you want to bet that JoDaPopo draws a paycheck based on his internet shilling for those directly behind the cancel culture.
Case in point: I think all those supporting Gru are real posters and all
those deriding him have questionable motivation at best, if not being paid
shills
