What Do General Managers Think?

December 24th, 2021

Not an MVP with NFL suits.

So as the year winds down there are going to be awards, official and otherwise, given out for damn near anything you can think of that happened in 2021.

The NFL is no different.

So to that end, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com sent out a survey to 23 NFL general managers and high-ranking personnel men. The survey asked who they would vote on for all sorts of league awards.

It seems 75 percent of the NFL’s general managers aren’t all that keen on Bucs quarterback Tom Brady winning NFL MVP. Drama queen Aaron Rodgers got 11 votes. Jonathan Taylor received eight.

Brady? He only got two.

So for executive of the year in Pelissero’s poll, Bill Belicheat received seven points. Yeah, NFL folks believe Belicheat runs the show in New England both on and off the field.

Jerry Jones actually received three votes! And of all the disciples Belicheat has put into the league both in front offices and on the field, only one of Belicheat’s proteges received a vote for executive of the year. That would be Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. He received one vote.

I agree wit the nfl suits no way Brady is mvp the way he plays against playoff bound teams… we’ve only beaten 2 pats n cowboys n could’ve lost both of them n he played subpar in both

  2. VabucSINCE’97 Says:

    😩😬

  3. mg Says:

TB-12 is not an MVP this year.

  4. ClodHopper Says:

Licht should have won last year.

  5. Buc4evr Says:

Don’t care. Superbowl is the only yardstick for Brady. Remember what Ronde said about the probowl after he burned down the Vet. Bet it’s the same type of thing for Brady and MVP.

  6. Lamarcus Says:

I think the last game and temper tantrum like a 2 year cost him his MVP first place.

  7. Bbro Says:

Who cares about all those other secondary songs ‘games’ on the album in the ‘season’. Yes they’re great listening to ‘to watch’ but it’s that one song everyone wants to hear ‘to see and win’ and that tops all awards and trophies anyone can put out and that’s to play and engineer a Big Fat Super Bowl Victory then the rest is like yesterday’s BS.

  8. Listnfrmafar Says:

We all know what happens when Brady gets snubbed. Roger’s, that clown? If Brady retires this year I really think Licht should pursue Tyler Huntley backup to Jackson in Baltimore. This guy is good.

  9. BigMacAttack Says:

The Lombardi is the only trophy that matters. Joe really has this thing about these side trophies and individual honoi

  10. BigMacAttack Says:

Honors. Someone please give Joe a trophy.

  11. adam from ny Says:

the team and staff obviously had to regroup after last week’s madness…

let’s not throw in the towel quite yet…

this is “tom fuggin’ brady and them boyz”…

let’s see how we rebound from this late season adversity…

they just might surprise us all and go into azz whoopin’ mode X 2

  12. Here's Johnny Says:

This is off topic. But we still have all of our TEs and AB. Dam we are still stacked. Our Oline is the best in the league. We got this! Our coaches have been spoiled Licht. Now its time for them to earn their pay.

  13. Defense Rules Says:

Awards like MVP are always about ‘What have you done for me lately?’ Tom Brady might be a hometown hero to the Bucs, but lately he’s probably looked rather average to the rest of the league. Win another Super Bowl and that perception would change quickly, particularly with most of his ‘weapons’ sitting on the bench cheering him on.

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Jerry Jones must have voted for himself 3 times.

  15. Kentucky Buc Says:

Nobody worse to ask an opinion of than a bunch of guys that Brady’s destroyed for most of their careers. Do any of you really think Brady gives a truck about an MVP ?

  16. SB Says:

One of the most informed and intelligent things I have heard you say Listn.

  17. Im not tired anymore we Super Bowl Champs!! Says:

Any Buc fan on this site needs to show some respect for Brady. We owe him everything for what he has brought to our team. He changed the culture here and impacts the entire team to raise their game. I’m pretty sure that is a true MVP. Without Brady this team would be so bad just look at the last decade before Brady. Go Bucs! MVP Brady!

  18. ATLBuc Says:

All of the current MVP candidates have had bad games. Furthermore, the suits don’t like Brady because of the multitude of L’s he’s hung on them over the past two decades. Haters!!!

  19. stpetebucsfan Says:

“particularly with most of his ‘weapons’ sitting on the bench cheering him on.”

True dat D.R. but if our two “Steelers” come through we should be fine.

If A.B.’s rested body is really ready to roll we OK at WR. CG is of course a better blocker..A.B. IMHO is more explosive after the catch…BOTH are great WR’s so we replace one great WR with another.

Same at RB. If Bell is healthy and his head is on straight he is the PERFECT fit.
He may not run as hard as Playoff Lennie but he’s a better pass receiver and more elusive. Again two great players..so we replace one with the other.

And AGAIN..one of Bell’s greatest strengths are his hands. Pittsburg routinely targeted him 100 x a season and he caught 80.

If….IF..AB and Bell can play at 80% of their prime we’ll be fine…get closer to 100% and the Bucs kick butt.

  20. BuucccNASTY Says:

VABUCSINCE, last year was no different. Wouldn’t beat a good team all season. The two wins you did mention (NE and DAL) so happen to be the #1 and #2 seeds in there conference respectively, not just playoff teams. I think we can get this again.

  21. Beeej Says:

If MVP goes to a QB, it’s gotta be Rodgers. He had ONE bad game, his very first

  22. Colonel Angus Says:

This is good. We need a pissed off Brady right now, go ahead and write him off.

  23. Stone crab sam Says:

This poll just shows why there are so many teams that don’t make it to the superbowl ever. Their leadership is simply lacking on what makes up a championship caliber qb😎

  24. Stone crab sam Says:

I mean what’s important; champions or statistics? Rotflmfao

  25. NeverGIVEup Says:

How can a 44 year old lead his team to a division title and playoffs and not be your MVP when considering ALL OF THE INJURIES?

  26. Listnfrmafar Says:

    Jonathan Taylor is MVP.

  27. Stone crab sam Says:

For that matter, cooper Kupp could be mvp if one just looks at stats.

  28. Stone crab sam Says:

Kupp has 100 yards more than Taylor and he’s doing things not seem since megatron.

  29. mg Says:

    Taylor or Kupp.

  30. Buczilla Says:

The morons who voted for Jerry Jones don’t deserve their media credentials, much less their right to vote. Is their any wonder why we get screwed year after year, after year?
