Bruce Arians Talks Joe Tyron-Shoyinka
December 23rd, 2021The #FreeJoeTryon movement has a lot of followers.
Sadly, a lot of the excitement is tied to Jason Pierre-Paul being a shell of his former self. It’s obvious his messed up shoulder is not something that will be overcome this season,
The rookie Tryon-Shoyinka is a ball of energy, outside his annoying and rare loafs. His hair is on fire and it’s interesting how the Bucs were pulling manbeast nose tackle Vita Vea off the field in passing situations against the Saints on Sunday night.
It worked.
The Bucs first-round pick was a terror and proved valuable against a mobile quarterback at various times.
Bucco Bruce Arians was talking about Tryon-Shoyinka on his official radio/YouTube/streaming show this week.
“He showed his speed. You know, Taysom Hill can run and Joe ran him down,” Arians said of the rookie. “He’s been getting great pressure. He’s starting to finish a little bit more. He’s getting better and better. He’s going to be a heck of a player. Learning, he’s playing a little bit more inside now, learning more jobs so we can get him on the field more. But the speed, the power, all the things, he’s just still working on his toolbox a little bit. And he’s just going to get better and better.”
The way the Bucs offense has taken multiple shots to the gut, it’s clear the defense will have to get back to where it was last postseason for the Bucs to return to Super Bowl glory.
Tryon-Shoyinka could be a big part of that if he progresses the way Arians expects.

His number makes him look smaller.

Like the kid….think it was a good pick at 32…..and the right position…..
We may actually need a TE next year in round 2 or 3…….I’m thinking DT in round 1. Much will depend on FA signings……Godwin etc.

Not buying it. Tiny Tyron.

His loafing may be rare but it is inexcusable. I’m not yet sold, he still looks like a cluckleberry without a head too many times.

Agreed tbbf on all of the above. Def need dline. Don’t think we can count on Suh or jpp. Tight end as well with Gronk and Brate being old. Both could be gone. Prob need one more corner and RB too. Maybe a mid found off ball backer to groom and provide depth

The guy doesn’t have the juice and doesn’t own the edge. He is fast, but not a JPP in training. He gets pushed around sealed off and unable to use his hands. Not ready for prime time.

Worst place to go on the internet is the comment section on just about ant website lol

After re-watching the Saints game, I came away somewhat impressed with the energy and desire of Tryon. He has a desire to win that will translate (next year, probably) into lots of production. How much production? That’s up to Tryon and his off-season. He has steadily improved all season long IMO. Can he be a stud in the post-season, THIS season? Possibly, and hopefully. He is quite fast, so he has that going for him.
GO BUCS!!

Crud, my bad. Tyron, not Tryon, LOL. Sick ’em, rookie!

Free Tryon? I think he playing a lot already.

For taking all of last yr off of Football I think the Kid is actually ahead of schedule.
I think some fans have unrealistic expectations with all of the circumstances involved

His speed was quite evident against the Saints when he ran Taysom Hill down.
An NFL Team can not afford to miss on their number one draft pick, and we did not miss on him, like we did with OJ Howard.

Agree, Chris. Tyron SMOKED JPP in chasing down Hill from behind for a sack. He’s fast. The question is: How to use his speed in the future? I swear he’s as fast as White.
Here’s a crazy thought: Pull #9 from the line and use DW, LD, and JTS as linebackers. Put some more meat on the line, and more speed at 2nd level. Hmmm. I’m sure the coaches have thought of it, so what do I know? LOL.
Either way, GO BUCS!!

Hey Joes,
In my comment above I imagined a 4-3/3-4 hybrid/amoebae scheme for Bucs D with current players using Tyron’s speed, switchable between series and possibly downs. This should stymy most QB’s we face this year, LOL. Hey, if you can dream the scheme, the dream is possible. You prolly know more football than me – what do you think? Pipedream or possible? (Just tryin’ to help)
GO BUCS!!

@Drok Hey you got it right with Tryon. I do believe he is trying hard but he is a very raw talent. So for this season he is Tryon. Keep trying kid. Not sure he has the power to be a dominate player but more likely a good situational player. I like his chances as an outside lb vs a three down interior lineman. A younger faster version of JPP? Maybe.

There is no doubt he is going to be very good. I also think there are occasions when he’s tentative and I believe it’s just from knowing his assignments and having to overthink. That will go away and I can see him being a 10 sack a year guy

Playing pretty damn good considering he is a rookie that didn’t play last year.
