Bruce Arians Relying On Ke’Shawn Vaughn For “Big Plays”
December 23rd, 2021The man known as Sneak now has a golden opportunity — and he’s probably auditioning for a job in 2022.
Joe’s referring to second-year running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn, the Bucs’ 2020 third-round pick.
What is known of Vaughn is that he isn’t much on special teams and it seems like the bright lights of Sunday night tripped him up when he got his first critical action of the season on offense.
Last year, Vaughn’s sample size was so small it was hard to get a good read on him, and he didn’t dazzle in the 2021 preseason, but eh wasn’t awful, either.
Now, Vaughn gets his dream shot. Giovani Bernard is toast with a bad hip and Leonard “Lombardi Lenny” Fournette has a bad hamstring and should miss the final three regular-season games.
Bucco Bruce Arians says he’s looking for a Sneak attack.
“Ke’Shawn can run the ball,” Arians told the Buccaneers Radio Network.. “I wish he trusted his hands a little bit more. You know, he stumbled on one [target on Sunday], dropped one. And those are plays he can make. He can make big plays for us, and he’s going to have to down the stretch.”
Yes, the Bucs just signed Le’Veon Bell, but he’ll need time to learn the offense and, frankly, there’s a reason he’s been sitting on the street for the last several weeks. If the Bucs don’t use Vaughn now, then what is he doing on the roster?
Joe believes Arians has faith in Vaughn, though that faith could fade in a hurry if Vaughn can’t produce.
One interesting nugget about Vaughn, he’s actually older than RoJo, who in his fourth season is still just 24 years old.
Arians did acknowledge the offense will change a bit without Fournette. Backs will be used differently out of the backfield, he said, “but they still have to catch the ball.”

These next three games are good for testing guys like Vaugh

Agree with VSyl!!
Also for Tyker Johnson, but this guy we know he can play, now he just has to show conistency…
Regarding Vaughn we do not know practically nothing, so he has a big opportunity…..
December 23rd, 2021 at 10:34 am
RoJo needs to be on a team that is less pass oriented, Derrick Henry runs the ball over 300 times a year and catches maybe 10 passes

BA is now lathered in Desperation ™️: Cologne for Concerned Coaches. Vaughn has Greg The Great Lumpkin skill set written all over him. He fumbles at key moments and couldn’t pick up a critical 3rd & 1 vs the Saints with the game in the balance. This is depressing…when does Giovanni come back? Time for Jones to resurrect his career 2020 Lenny style.

Vaughan has never made a ‘big’ play, so why would anyone expect that of him??
Mercy!
December 23rd, 2021 at 10:43 am
Lets run the ball regularly…..pound it…..enough of these downfield low-percentage throws on 3rd & 2…
And, stop with the empty backfields….it negates the play action…..
Pass on first down more often….but run on 3rd & short.

Why do I get this sneaky (no pun intended) feeling that Key is going to make the most of this opportunity?
December 23rd, 2021 at 10:52 am
Obviously, it’s time for him to grow up and start making plays. I’m not giving up on him just yet.

Next man up mentality has always bin the way of the NFL. All eyes on the next men up. There will be many. Injuries suck. The one for me that hurts the most is LVD. The silver lining tho is now we can see what we have in Vaughn and a few others. Look at what our DBs were able to do. Hurt all season and hear we sit at 10-4 not bad. Defense will need to step up in a big way to help out the offense like the offense has bin helping the defense. This is a championship team and they will prevail

Yeah SB I’m going to do my best to try and be optimistic about this. I know RB usually step in right away, but also forgot this was only his second year. I did see a fee good runs in his rookie year and some promise.. up and down in a very limited sample size. Sometimes a young guy can become a lot more focused during the week when he knows he’s being counted on

Good morning! What are we whining and crying about today?
December 23rd, 2021 at 11:19 am
59er!
Well…our city is below sea level a la a sewer and our QB is a gadget guy we just signed for $80 million! Wait…that’s you! We good…healing up from the bounty hunting session…but we good!
December 23rd, 2021 at 11:22 am
Lots of people can make bigplays for us why rely on this guy who has never done sht foolish! go with Rojo till the wheels fall off
December 23rd, 2021 at 11:50 am
The “big plays” I remember from Vaughn were for the other team (fumbles against the Bears and WFT last year).
December 23rd, 2021 at 12:06 pm
Well, there’s never been a better opportunity, that’s for sure. We need these young guys to step up. The goal is still the Lombardi!
December 23rd, 2021 at 12:38 pm
“Backs will be used differently”
AKA every time RoJo is in it’s a run, every time he’s not it’s a pass.
Lol. Hopefully Leftwich won’t be quite that predictable… but not gonna hold my breath.
Maybe we can finally see some more swing passes to rojo since he seems to kill it on those plays.

Look for those short passes to Perriman that CG would get, I think he is bigger and faster than Chris, just not the hands. I also think he plays more confident in BAs system
December 23rd, 2021 at 12:48 pm
Why does BA continue to place high expectations on guys who cannot rise to the occasion. Vaughn clearly cannot play or he would or he would’ve separated himself from the RB group and Jalean Darden is scared.
December 23rd, 2021 at 12:51 pm
The difference in intensity and focus from knowing you’re a starter as opposed to coming off the bench in the middle of the game due to an injury should be informative pretty quickly. Let’s hope our guys are up to the challenge.
December 23rd, 2021 at 12:59 pm
Give the ball to RoJo.
December 23rd, 2021 at 1:41 pm
I gave up on Keyshawn Vaughn some time ago. I haven’t seen anything out of him to make me change my mind, but I hope he proves me wrong.
I am much more excited to see Leveon Bell play, to be honest.
And ROJO is an excellent running back of course, as long as he isn’t gassed.
December 23rd, 2021 at 2:20 pm
vaughn does look like a kick off return guy tho
December 23rd, 2021 at 2:21 pm
yeah perriman is a big strong dude…use him as such…
also fast af
December 23rd, 2021 at 2:24 pm
now we shall see how good of an OC lefty is…
the league will watch too, to see how he adapts without lenny and chris…
his interviews literally start this sunday at 1:00pm
December 23rd, 2021 at 3:02 pm
Jules will be with the Bucs next year… just wish we already had him.
December 23rd, 2021 at 3:48 pm
Never did see anything in Vaughn. Another wasted pick.
December 23rd, 2021 at 4:07 pm
I’ve said it all week and I’ll continue to say it until Vaughn vomits on himself and proves me wrong. Don’t count him out yet. Yes, this is the NFL, but in college on two bad Vanderbilt team playing an SEC schedule, he got back to back 1,000 yard seasons being about the only thing Vandy had on that side of the ball. This will be the first week he should get significant practice reps with the first team. Give him through the end of the regular season.
December 23rd, 2021 at 4:27 pm
Hey! What happened to Perriman? He’s disappeared!
December 23rd, 2021 at 4:28 pm
Rob in land of lakes. How many seasons does Vaughan need?
December 23rd, 2021 at 4:35 pm
Joe’s headline almost speaks for itself. Sad state of affairs.
Offseason priority: RB
December 23rd, 2021 at 4:49 pm
He won’t do it.
December 23rd, 2021 at 6:48 pm
Eddie, it’s not a matter of seasons. He’s been buried behind Fournette and Rojo so in two years he’s gotten spot work here and there.. 39 carries for 159 yards (4.3 average). Obviously, the two fumbles against Chicago and WFT were huge.
My argument is that the sample size is too small to draw a conclusion and he’s had virtually no time in practicing with the 1’s. If he’s in the rotation the next three weeks (10 or so touches per game) and doesn’t turn the ball over, that should give us a good idea. If he can’t produce in the next three weeks (provided they use him) then I have no issue moving on from him.

Anyone who hasn’t seen anything in Vaughn , well it might be a hard pill to swallow but Your A Bar Jersey Wearer , You say we and us when talking about your team and You don’t know sht ……. as I have said many times I see allot of talent in Vaughn ……… now not getting him and Rojo ready is on the coaches and expect a fumble or three down the stretch because these guys can’t practice live games anymore ………. that’s just to be expected and shame on the coaches for not getting these guys more touches ,adapting the offense to get them live feel ………You just simply have to do that with RB s anymore because of the NFL practice rules and the exploding emphasis on stripping the ball that is well beyond the college game . Throw the screens to their strengths not to the current play book ……… And please don’t throw Rojo a quick slant if he goes out to the slot that’s just STUPID !! The whole offense has to change a bit but it will be an even better running offense ……
Go Bucs !!!
December 23rd, 2021 at 9:05 pm
If he does, that will be his 1st. Did Bell pass the physical?
