Did Bucs Save Le’Veon Bell From A Beat Down?
December 22nd, 2021New Bucs running back Le’Veon Bell joined the team this morning on the practice field at One Buc Palace. He is expected to speak to the Fourth Estate (and fans) after practice.
And with the signing, did the Bucs rescue Bell from a Frank Gore-like boxing beat down?
Celebrity boxing is all the rage now. Over the weekend, Tampa was host to a celebrity fight card. One match was former NFL running back Frank Gore against former non-basketball association player Deron Williams (who Joe hasn’t seen play hoops since North Carolina beat Illinois in the national championship game).
Williams slapped around Gore and even did a Rowdy Roddy Piper routine in throwing Gore through the ropes.
This seemed to unnerve Bell, who took to Twitter and had a back-and-forth with another celebrity boxer, former college wrestler (that’s wrestling without the ropes and without the drama and without the hollering and without the fun) turned human cockfighter turned boxer Tyron Woodley.
Woodley mocked Bell for being a wannabe boxer. Bell then offered to give every nickel he earned boxing to charity to show he wasn’t going to step into the squared circle just to cash a check.
And then Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht called and now Bell is here — with boxing, it appears, on the back burner.
So did the Bucs save Bell from shaming himself on pay-per-view like Gore did? We may never know.
Joe sure hopes somehow, someway Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians and Tommy Brady can find that spark in Bell when he was the best backfield weapon in the NFL. A guy who lost his skills when he chose to ride his personal watercraft on Biscayne Bay rather than play football.
Once upon a time not so long ago, Bell was a helluva five-star play-ah.
any revenue I would make for the fight I would donate to charity…every single dollar! since ppl who can’t box like YOU think i’m in it for money…lol it’s not about money, it’s about me doin what you couldn’t do … I don’t need to pocket a dime, I already got “a bag” .. 😉 https://t.co/fDuU4vtZDH

AB’s crazy + Lev Bell’s crazy cancel each other out.
December 22nd, 2021 at 12:05 pm
The enigma is if he can still run, but there is no wonder in my mind he still can block, something Rojo can´t…..
December 22nd, 2021 at 12:07 pm
Hope they can squeeze a little bit out of bell. But I really don’t think so.
December 22nd, 2021 at 12:21 pm
sheesh they really don’t trust in rojo to pull this move…
things have really gotten crazy and taken a turn for the bucs in only a few days time…
it’s rolling like a coaster right about now

Bell has been brought to the BUCs because he is great catching the ball. The latest games Brady has thrown the ball to the RB a lot. So, he needs somebody who can catch the ball from the Backfield.
December 22nd, 2021 at 12:31 pm
This move has more to do with having a RB who can catch. Has nothing to do with not trusting Rojo as a runner. We know the man can run. I think if he was used to his strengths, maybe he’d ball out like he did last year. Remember, under 30 yds away from 1,000. I do remember hearing that the coaches played to their player’s strengths, but in the case of Rojo for some reason they don’t.

This is a crap-shoot at best and living proof of the “desperate teams do desperate things” adage….
December 22nd, 2021 at 12:40 pm
RoJo is the superior runner, not vs Bell, but vs Fournette.
Yes, the Bucs coaching staff in all their infinite wisdom has the best RB and explosive threat on the team riding the pine. Nothing surprises me anymore from these imbetards.

I’ll tell you what he can do and that is catch the ball. Dude was one of the best at catching passes out of the backfield
December 22nd, 2021 at 12:46 pm
lol that was a funny exchange. At least the dude still has spunk

Lenny & AB were crap shoots, the odds are in Bucs favor. Adam, it’s not Rojo they don’t trust it’s Vaughn, plus Rojo doesn’t catch to well. If Rojo gets hurt, whose next Ricky Williams?
December 22nd, 2021 at 12:58 pm
If you plan on running the ball and passing to a RB who did you have? Vaughn has shown nothing to be a backup to Rojo. He had to have a a Vet backup and this was a good shot to do it.
December 22nd, 2021 at 1:00 pm
@Listn: at least FL has legal med ganja, so don’t count Ricky Williams out… 😉
December 22nd, 2021 at 1:10 pm
Bell is a 3rd down back replacing Gio…….Rojo will run & run well…..
December 22nd, 2021 at 1:41 pm
CP,
Exactly. Throw LB the ball on swing passes and let him do his thing.
But BL, PLEASE don’t make it predictable.
You can have ROJO and Bell in the backfield at the same time.
Last I checked, that’s still a legal play.

Vaughn…welcome to Deactivation Nation: My 3 fondest memories of Vaughn:
1) Fumble before half 2020 vs Bears…completely changed the complexion of the game
2) Fumble in playoff game vs Washington while the Bucs were driving…made it a nail biter until the very end.
3) Stopped on 3rd & 1 vs Saints where the interior line blew Saints off the ball…caught from the side and froze like a deer(knuckle) in headlights…4th down and game essentially over after that.
December 22nd, 2021 at 2:02 pm
I think the Bucs brought Le’Veon in, out of necessity. Gotta have depth at RB.
We already know RoJo gets gassed. What happens if he gets hurt? Vaughn?
December 22nd, 2021 at 2:07 pm
Winny, that’s harsh man…but true.
December 22nd, 2021 at 2:07 pm
We’re already gonna see more of Vaughn, I’m pretty sure.
He didn’t look very impressive the other night. Maybe he’ll improve.
December 22nd, 2021 at 2:30 pm
I don’t know if or what he has left but he ain’t just a 3rd down back.
December 22nd, 2021 at 5:01 pm
Bucs are rollin the dice with Bell. Does he even have anything left in the tank?
December 22nd, 2021 at 6:27 pm
Bell can catch but he can’t run. Who needs him! Worst move they could have made.

My dad always told me:
A man who talks don’t want to fight and a man who wants to fight doesn’t talk.
Bunch of posturing and breath wasting.
