Minnesota 2017 Revisited
December 19th, 2021Man, Sunday night’s debacle reminded Joe of the Bucs getting destroyed physically in Minnesota in the second game of the 2017 season (it was Week 3 because the Bucs had a first-week game moved due to a hurricane).
The Bucs had just alley-stomped the Bears and Mike Glennon to open the season. A season with high hopes, big-name free agents, and coming off a 9-7 record where they missed a wild card berth on a tiebreaker and being featured before the nation on and entertaining “Hard Knocks.”
So the Bucs went to Minnesota to face a playoff-veteran team and got seal-clubbed physically. The score was 34-17 in the Minnesota win but it was worse than that. Never had Joe seen an NFL team get the sh!t kicked out of them physically like on that day.
It was even worse when Joe got to the locker room. It looked like the remnants of a battlefield. Lavonte David had to be carried in just so he could shower and get dressed. Noah Spence was damn near in tears because he blew out his shoulder (again) and he seemed to realize his career may be over as a result.
The scene left Joe speechless. Joe couldn’t believe the scene. It was like out of “A Bronx Tale” after the mobsters took baseball bats to the biker gang in the bar.
Those 2017 Bucs were never the same after that.
Joe fears this is what happened tonight. The Saints, at least on defense, absolutely seal-clubbed the Bucs. The slimy Saints were just so much more physical. It was as if they were determined that if they weren’t going to lose the game, they were going to bloody and bruise the Bucs.
It was worse than that. Chris Godwin got splashed and may have blown out his knee. Mike Evans got body-slammed and blew out a hamstring. Same thing with Playoff Lenny who the slimy Saints helicoptered out of the game with a hamstring injury of his own.
As Mike Ditka would say, the Bucs offense got the snot knocked out of them Sunday night.
And Joe fears with injuries to Evans, Godwin and Playoff Lenny, the slimy Saints may have broken the Bucs.

Man. Injuries. We don’t have the horses

I love ME13. BUT… he has the most fragile hamstrings in the NFL – change my mind
December 19th, 2021 at 11:33 pm
If there are lingering injuries to Evans, Fournette and Godwin, then God Help us!
December 19th, 2021 at 11:35 pm
Ok leighroy, as many consecutive thousand yard seasons as Evans has had, an NFL record if you need a reminder, it would seem logical that his hamstrings have held up well enough. Don’t you think?
December 19th, 2021 at 11:36 pm
You think they broke the Bucs? Hahaha. Godwin will be back as well as AB. Who knows about Evans. We have 3 weeks until the playoffs. Everything is OK.
December 19th, 2021 at 11:37 pm
Joe, calm down. You’re exaggerating just a little. 10-4. One won from division. Chicken Little, it all will be fine.

Brady looked broken. The highly lauded offensive line was destroyed.
I feel sorry for Bowled and the defense. They should all go into the locker room and instead of being, “It’s ok guys” be like — WHAT?????????????????
And go from there.
Embarrassing, Not even close. The physicial offense I knew we’d need was out on a yacht. Boron tried to pass the whole first quarter and let their DL run loose on the pass rush and our OL is comfy with their press clippigs. Tuypical Bucs.
The worst 10-4 team performance I’ve ever seen. Cork of spit.
Vulgar.
Embarrassing.

Nah, not the same. One time they did close-up of Brady in the 4th. Straight pissed off, I’m going to eat your cat death stare with gabbert not even considering saying anything.
That’s the difference. Brady is the qb and arians is the coach. This isn’t the same bucs team. This is what true competitors feed on
December 19th, 2021 at 11:40 pm
It would seem Steven. However he’s had hamstring issues every season, and here we are with 1 catch and done in a critical game. So mind not changed yet.

65 was rag-dolled all game long. 27 pulled his ‘avoid contact’ routine and we saw the return of Highway 76. Oh great job by the kickers too. Tonight showed we’re a finesse team. Nothing more. Fluffy soft. Hey, Duuuuuvvvval, pls take Byron. Pls.

This seems like something a caller to WDAE would say. What an overreaction. Yes the saints have the Bucs number in the regular season. No denying that. But the injuries played a huge part in this game. The defense gave up 9 points. The team is not broken just because something that happened last year (the year they won the super bowl) happened again. The Bucs have time to heal up and be ready for the playoffs, where they likely won’t have to play the saints (and if they do, they beat them in the playoffs last year remember) R E L A X

1. The Oline got absolutely bitchslapped tonight
2. The play calling by Leftwich was horrendous and played right into the strengths of the Saints
3. Darden, OJ Howard and Keyshawn Vaughan are Hugh busts!
4. If Bucs make the playoffs they are one and done.
5. At least. Brady got us a SB championship.
6. Hopefully, Lenny, Godwin and Evans will be back soon.
7. Saints took their manhood. Embarrassing beat down.

Cappa got manhandled. But no need to condemn the whole season Joe.

Props to both D’s tonight. Both played inspired ball.

Then your mind will never be changed leighroy, so just don’t ask for the challenge.

3rd down play calling was a joke. Throw it 49 yards downfield or hand it up the gut to Vaughn who has no real experience. If we would have had a 4 yard play for are receivers we would have scored 30. But we got to 3rd and 2 and lefty would throw it deep to no one open or hand it off. It was hard to watch. Lefty you owe me 3 hours of my life back. And I hope you care more then I do. Because I am pissed and I have young kids and I’m at sea world right before Christmas. But I would swear you were at sea world tonight. Tom just throw it as far as you can In on to the ocean on 3rd and 2. Arians you might have to actually coach the offense instead of just letting them handle it. We had a firm grip on number one seed. Now you got out coached out of any chance of that so let’s hope for the seed we don’t play the redskins. Because they have more heart than us.

“… Playoff Lenny who the slimy Saints helicoptered out of the game with a hamstring injury of his own.”
.
.
I cringed when I saw him appear to attempt a full split. I figured that must be the play that did it.

The playoffs started today and we got our asses kicked

I typed the doomsday post at 7-5 last season and we never lost again
Let’s hope this was the wake up game
