Pierre Desir Comes Up Big
December 5th, 2021It almost felt like Shaq Barrett’s strip-sack-fumble-recovery play in Indianapolis last Sunday.
Today in Atlanta, the Falcons had the ball and momentum to start the second half after Tom Brady’s horrendous pick-six to close the first half, which cut the Bucs’ lead to 20-17.
Matt Ryan completed the fifth play of the third-quarter drive, a first-down throw on 3rd-and-long to Russell Gage into Bucs’ territory, and then flying in came the fragrant one, Bucs backup cornerback Pierre Desir.
He stripped Gage and the Bucs never looked back, closing out the Falcons for a 30-17 win.
Desir was in the game for Jamel Dean, who was removed for a concussion.
Against the Colts, edge rusher Barrett’s game-turning play came at nearly the exact same time and place as Desir’s strip, near midfield on the opening drive of the second half. Joe can’t say Desir’s play had the same impact as the Bucs had the lead, but it was a huge play.
Desir added four solo tackles and has to be playing with lot of confidence after his game-ending interception in Indianapolis.
Yes, the bottle of cologne is far more fragrant these days. Joe is almost (almost) liking the Bucs’ depth at corner.

They’re getting a lot of experience this year that’s for sure

If he ends up as a Superbowl Champion he probably could get his own line of cologne!

JOE
Desir Totally blew that coverage and almost gave up another long first down. I believe they needed several yards for a first and he was playing 10 yards deep and backing up at the snap of the ball. Some of the dB did that a lot today. I don’t get it. It was an easy 10-12 yard in for the receiver to be wide open.
Kudos for the hustle to come back and knock the ball out but dammmn, with all the cornerbacks coming back healthy, they need to tighten it up!!!

Hes a good player to have on your team hes an average cover guy but has a nose for the football.

Might’ve been the play of the game, as the D was giving away 3rd down conversions like they were candy canes.

Desir has been doing that since dean’s been in diapers.
December 5th, 2021 at 8:26 pm
he blew his coverage and redeemed himself afterwards…
not sure whether to praise or punk him…
“as long as he smells good he can be on the team”…said BA 🙂

SOEbuc … ‘Dean is softer than Santa Clause.’
I’m starting to think the problem is that guys are playing before they really should be. Dean’s been injured in games several times already this season & he can’t be playing at 100% right now. Seems strange that every starter in our Secondary has been beaten up this year: Davis, Dean, SMB, Whitehead & Winfield. Hard to develop & maintain chemistry when that happens I’m sure.
