Bucs Grab A Fifth-Round Pick In 2011
April 24th, 2010Wondering what happened to the Bucs pile of seventh-round draft picks?
Turns out Mark Dominik traded two of them to the Broncos for their 2011 fifth-round pick, the Bucs are reporting.
Sure seems like a good deal.
Dominik planned some late wheeling and dealing, so he said this morning on WDAE-AM 620, but surely this isn’t what Joe had in mind.
April 24th, 2010 at 4:55 pm
Oh-oh. Dominik read JoeBucsFan.com and realized that he’ll probably be around in 2010 – so he packaged the 5th round Pro-Bowler for next year.
What happens if there is a lockout next year?
will there still be a draft?
April 24th, 2010 at 5:12 pm
Terrible decison considering that this was a very deep draft and there were still many decent players left! Two 7th rounders for a 5th rounder?? And it’s freaking next year!!!! We could’ve filled two more needs.
April 24th, 2010 at 5:15 pm
Good trade….it’s a deep draft = more talented undrafted free agents. Why draft someone this year in the 7th round that may not make the team? We’ll get some a decent player next year in the 5th round. Makes perfect sense.
April 24th, 2010 at 5:16 pm
I’m happy with this draft but ………..
Eric Lorig?!?!….what the hell was that?
Had to be someone more promising available!
April 24th, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Whatever happened to Brandon Carter from Texas Tech?
April 24th, 2010 at 5:32 pm
Patrick, you’re an idiot…
April 24th, 2010 at 6:11 pm
Lol at you guys getting worked up about 7th round picks. Odds of ANY of them even making the team are like 20% at best.
April 24th, 2010 at 6:23 pm
would have liked wr- blair white in the 7th
April 24th, 2010 at 6:31 pm
Patrick,
Let me spell it out for you. Two 7th rounders that probably wouldn’t make the team for a 5th rounder next year theat will either A) have a better chance of making the team or B) be ammunition for a trade should the Bucs need to move up in next years draft.
It was a good move. Stop trying to find a fault with everything they do.
April 24th, 2010 at 6:43 pm
Apparentely you haven’t watched many Buc drafts D-money. A 5th rounder probably wont make this team either, because our scouting department is a joke.
We could use the help NOW !
April 24th, 2010 at 6:43 pm
There will be a draft next year the lockout won’t happen until after the draft. I’m not guessing I am using information I got from the nfl network during a goodell interview
April 24th, 2010 at 6:48 pm
Well the stupendous never before duplicated 2010 bucs draft has concluded. The future Hall of Famers are in the fold, unless Rod Smith appears in the undrafted free agency pool.
All that is left is for the Dream and his staff to coach em up.
Canton, Ohio, here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any chance we can beat Cleveland?
April 24th, 2010 at 6:48 pm
Already grabbed Snead…..Blount is next.

Radio Mushmouth,
Maybe you didn’t hear that we got a new G.M. last year and he drafted a wr in the 7th that made the team and saw production on the field. Maybe you could lay off all the hate and give the team a chance…you’ll be the first to jump on the bandwagon…you Negative Bucs Fans remind me of the Tea Party Movement; a bunch of hollering and screaming for nothing…
April 24th, 2010 at 7:58 pm
@ Hosstyle
1.Our new GM was the head of our scouting department all through the Gruden years and beyond.
2.If I was a Bandwagon jumper I wouldn’t be here right now , I’d be on Joesaintsfan.com
3. Hollering and screaming because you want government to leave you the hell alone is not “for nothing” , in fact it’s what this country was founded on. It’s as American as apple pie.
so , in other words: STFU dumb ass.

@Radio, well said!
April 24th, 2010 at 9:33 pm
Radio,
If you don’t think they know what they are doing then what does it matter if they use the picks this year or next?
You just want to complain about everything. Thats fine its your right as you say but it isn’t based in fact. Its based in your dislike for the coach and the GM. And it ends up sounding like you would be happy seeing the Bucs lose just so you can be right about Morris and Dominick.
We can’t know for sure for a few years but I believe they did a very good job in this draft. They addressed many of the teams major needs and made some pretty solid picks.

“It’s as American as apple pie.”
Amen. White, wealthy landowners and their slaves!
Now go protest government run Medicare in a public park and give up your Social Security checks…nah, too much…just hurl racial epithets and show the fruits of Florida’s fine education system LOL.
April 24th, 2010 at 9:37 pm
I didn’t like the trade, but only because that TE who is actually projected as an H Back type was still on the board at those picks and we could have had him. The guy runs a 4.4 40, has almost a 40 inch vertical and is not just a workout warrior, he DID produce in college. I think a guy like that would be fun to play with as an offensive coordinator, plus he would’ve been a great safety valve in case one of our WR’s didn’t pan out. And we all know high grade WR’s don’t always pan out (see Michael Clayton)
April 24th, 2010 at 9:38 pm
I think his name was Dorin Dickerson
April 24th, 2010 at 9:54 pm
Radio, Think about it if they are as bad as you say a new Gm and coach will have a 5th next year. I like this draft. One thing about Raheems job being on the line next year is you can’t take rookies and make them stars in one year.
April 25th, 2010 at 2:26 am
RM,
I don’t often agree with you, but man did you nail it here. Right on!
And I hate to get political on a sports site, but for the Tea Party haters out there, show me ONE instance of racially-motivated criticism of any kind from the Tea Party. You can’t, because it’s never happened. The Tea Party isn’t about race and never has been. But if you lefties can make the allegation stick it sure does get you off the hook for having to come up with facts to debate with, doesn’t it?
April 25th, 2010 at 11:43 am
@ larry
your comment doesn’t even make sense. The 1st Tea party wasn’t created by rich white landowners, it was struggling merchants and sailors in Boston that were sick of the Red Coats taxing the shit out of them , and seeing nothing good in return.
Now run along, go back to sucking Uncle sam’s tit , but let me know when you’re ready to ween and come sit at the big boy’s table . You will be welcome in the Tea party.

all you radio lovers cant claim the plan is to build through the draft , then defend us trading our picks away .
You can’t say the plan is to draft character guys , and then praise the selection of Mike Williams.
You Radio lovers change your storty by the day , and you are incoherent in your defense of this mystery plan that isnt really a plan at all.
