Bucs On Cusp Of Division Stranglehold But No Margin For Error In NFC Race
December 3rd, 2021Sean Payton has a blind spot.
The head cheese of the Saints is a fantastic coach with one flaw. He is in love with that stiff Taysom Hill. For some reason, Payton thinks this glorified Steve Gleason is an NFL quarterback. He stinks! Joe only hopes that Payton doesn’t come to his senses for a couple of years.
In large part to Hill looking and playing like the stiff he is — and the Saints down their two starting offensive tackles and Alvin Kamara — the Cowboys beat the Saints last night 27-17. And it was both good and bad for the Bucs.
First the good: If the Bucs can win Sunday at Atlanta, the Bucs will have a total stranglehold on the NFC South. The Bucs, with a win, will have a commanding four-game lead on Carolina, the Dixie Chicks and the slimy Saints with five games left. And with a division title will come a home playoff game.
The bad news: The Bucs will need to win Sunday to remain a game ahead of the Cowboys for the third-overall seed in the NFC playoff race. If the Bucs lose both teams will be tied. The Bucs have a tiebreaker with the Cowboys as the Bucs beat the Cowboys to open the season.
A loss to the Dixie Chicks on the road Sunday and the Bucs will need both a Cardinals and Packers loss to have realistic hopes of gaining a homefield advantage with a No. 1 seed and a playoff bye.

I agree. Time for the tap out. LFG BUCS!
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:10 am
I think you’re mistaken Joe: if the Bucs win Sunday, they’ll be 9-3 and the Cowboys are now 8-4.
A Bucs loss puts them in a tie with the ‘boys but Bucs would remain #3 due to head to head tie breaker. Right?
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:15 am
Still can’t believe they got an L from the saints. 🤦♂️ This team needs to run the table simple as that.
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:18 am
They have to avoid a loss so they don’t fall into a tie with the Cowboys. And Taysom Hill is a running back. Right now the Saints can’t do anything but run the ball. As long as the offense plays smart, they should be no problem.
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:35 am
Joe the Bucs are 8-3 and still in the 3rd seed. They’ve also beat the cowboys, so if the had the same record they have the tiebreaker. Cowboys have 1 more loss at 8-4…
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:52 am
Derek:
Bucs are 8-3. Cowboys are 8-4. A Bucs win keeps them a game ahead of Dallas with a 9-3 record. A loss and the two teams are tied at 8-3, but the Bucs have the tiebreaker.
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:58 am
Joe, you meant if the Bucs win Sunday, they will have a 9-3 record…Cowgirls are 8-4…
There ya go, all fixed 😉
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:14 am
we are 8 and 3 ,,,dallas now 8 and 4…. if we loose -we then also would be 8 and 4 ,,but have the tie breaker with Dallas..
When we win ,,,we’ll be 9 and 3 —keeping pace with Packers who are 9and 3.
we need to win out the season & hope packers loose at least 1 game to get 2nd seed
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:41 am
Have to win out to have any shot at all at the bye. And even that may not be enough.
Hardest game the Packers have left is Baltimore in Week 15.
The Cardinals have the Rams, Colts, and Cowboys yet.
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:55 am
The Bucs most likely need to win out to secure a first round bye.
We will see, first things first, destroy ATL.
GO BUCS!!!!

I don’t care how the Bucs get in the playoffs 9-8,10-7,11-6, etc. Forget the scenarios n hypothetical situations regarding what others do. We control our own destiny. Just get in, and like last year, do what Champions do, “Just win baby”. I rest my case.
December 3rd, 2021 at 4:10 am
Hey Joe, the packers are on bye this week. Good research though
December 3rd, 2021 at 4:23 am
None of the teams in the NFC “scare” me now other than ARI, GB, and DAL. That is, if the Bucs had to face MIN, WFT, SF, and even LAR in the playoffs I think there is enough “memory” and “revenge” to right the ship, just like we saw with the SB against KC last year. Yes, don’t take anyone lightly. The place they must avoid playing over anywhere else is GB.
All that said, I take it one game at a time. I will worry about playoffs when they wrap up the regular season. ATL is not out of it and I expect a fight Sunday.
December 3rd, 2021 at 4:31 am
I would love for SF to make it in with the LAR, because interdivision games are most always tougher and more predictable. Any one of those two could go into ARI and knock off the Cardinals.
Taysom Hill is no more a starting QB than Pick Winston is, of course, but over time, he’s proven much more likely to make the clutch play for his team. I do think of him as the Saints Tebow…a fan favorite with all the heart in the world, jack of many trades, but not really great at any.

Joes
I almost posted this same comment last night
Payton probably the greatest offensive mind in nfl yet he keeps giving tens of millions to a gadget whatever you call him
He has won in past but cmon man
Not sure same outcome if kamara plays though. Sorry didnt watch game to really know if kamara played but he is literally their offense.
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:38 am
I HATE the Cowboys!
Regardless of opponent, we need to win and keep Dallas chasing.
Roy- I like your Tebow analogy, I agree. He’s a gritty player but not a starter, IMO.
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:50 am
I blame Sean Payton.
Taysom Hill can play QB in this league. He just needs 50 new gadget plays every week.
December 3rd, 2021 at 7:09 am
Big mouth cam Jordan don’t need to worry about being kings of the south this year. Him and that smug Payton will be kings of there couch’s in a few weeks.
Love , love the saints a total s$&@ show
December 3rd, 2021 at 7:25 am
First 5 game losing skid/skid in Payton’s skivvies of the Sean Payton Era. I hope they enjoyed their locker room dance(s) after beating the Bucs. Watching the Saints lose is almost as enjoyable as watching the Bucs win…almost (not really).
December 3rd, 2021 at 7:29 am
Yeah… Cam Jordan seems NOTICEABLY silent these days.
December 3rd, 2021 at 9:21 am
Wow, no love for Taysom Hill on this board. Wasn’t he missing Kamara last night and basically all the starting receivers? He is essentially a rookie QB and made rookie mistakes against an excellent team. I think he is more Lamar Jackson than Tim Tebow. Didn’t Lamar struggle with passing his first year or two?
December 3rd, 2021 at 9:56 am
and fyi played the last part of the game with a splint on middle or fourth finger of his throwing hand … ontributing factor to ints?
not a saints fan fan of realistic critique.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:29 am
I was cheering for Dallas — rather ensure the division title and see what happens. The Cowboys will likely lose two more, they’re not very good. Rams are not good right now, and the Cardinals aren’t as good as 9-2.
The Packers are the likely favorite for top seed.
Bucs with a 2 seed is fine by me.
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:37 pm
Joe Joe! What are you talking about! Losing to Atlanta. I expect The Bucs to sweep the schedule. Hopefully it’s enough for the top seed. Home field all the way with a bye week. See you in The Super Bowl. GO BUCS!
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:11 pm
Right, why post a comment something when it shows how horrible all these articles have become. So funny
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:52 pm
It’s funny how yall talk bad about Hill lol 😆 😂. But yall said he was better than Jamies lol 😆 😂. All of yall false narratives has been destroyed this year lol 😆 😂 !!!
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:55 pm
Saints are 0 and 5 since Jamies been hurt !!
