“Bold Prediction:” Tom Brady Breaks NFL Records
November 13th, 2021Now it is no big deal to state that Tom Brady has NFL records. That tends to happen when you play football for 22 seasons.
Over at CBS Sports, Tyler Sullivan decided to make bold predictions for the second half of the season. No, predicting Brady to be MVP is not so bold, he admitted. But when a guy is doing that at 44, it may be Brady’s best feat of his storied career.
Given that Brady is the current favorite to win the MVP, this is hardly the boldest take in this group. That said, when has the projected MVP favorite heading into Week 10 actually hung on to the award? This is bold simply because if Brady does hang on to win league MVP, it would be another jaw-dropping, age-defying accomplishment for the Buccaneers quarterback. At 44-year-old, he’d become the oldest player in NFL history to win MVP honors, besting his previous record of winning the MVP at age 40.
In doing so, Brady will also break the single-season passing yards record (5,477) and passing touchdowns record (55) previously held by Peyton Manning with the Broncos in 2013. Currently, Brady is projected to throw for around 5,632 yards and 52.7 touchdowns.
Well, if Brady breaks for the season records for passing yards and touchdowns, Joe thinks it is safe to say the Bucs ought to win the division and maybe, at worst, the NFC’s No. 2 seed in the playoffs.
Brady breaking the record would mean he is lighting teams up week after week. And that means the Bucs are also winning week after week.

And for all you haters even in defeat against the rams and saints Brady shredded them!!! Bunch of losers rooting against your own so called team.

I think Brady has Manning in his sights, knowing there’s a 17th game on the schedule. This would answer Giselle’s question of what more does he have to prove? He’s like Thanos, wants all those gems in his gauntlet!

We need a few cheap td passes on 2nd and goal at the 1. Sonny Jurgenson ruled at that

Pete thinks the injuries on both sides of the ball will cause the bucs to run it more. But the thought of TB12 being the 1st NFL MVP for this franchise would be euphoric

Victory kneels are killing our running yards average & Easy TDs for Tom

@Pete,
That was an intelligent, rational, cogent, and well-thought out reply that, for once, did not ooze or seep of any malfeasance nor diabolical thoughts. Kudos.
As for Brady setting more records, every completed pass is a new record. It’s fun, and let’s see how far this team can go this year.
GO BUCS!!

I feel 5500 yards and 50 tds is a likely goal to reach for him.
I think if gronk and AB were healthy the numbers would be much higher.
And love for him to keep total ints below 10 ( 10 max) that would be huge
I mean thats 5-1 td to int ratio. Winning football with how much we throw it
Heck we haven had a buc qb w 2-1 td to int ratio in a long time

This is beside the point of this article, but there are four players (Wirfs, Britt, Darden and JTS) are 22. So Brady has played in the NFL for their ENTIRE LIVES. I know it’s not exactly news, but that’s CRAZY.

Gisele’s husband can’t both throw and catch the ball. In other words, receiver health will dictate Brady’s statistical production.

When it comes to “records” my mind glazes over at TB’s accomplishments. They’ve become so “normal” that I no longer get the proper reaction for such great achievements.
The only thing I really care about any longer is another SB. I think Tom gets it as well. All the numbers are getting mind numbing.
But amongst all the yardage and wins the single AMAZING achievement for me is SEVEN freaking SB’s. That’s almost twice as many as his next two challengers Bradshaw and Montana. They each won four Brady now has SEVEN! IF he wins again this year he not only dominates and virtually eliminates any GOAT discussions about plyers or QB’s he will have EIGHT freaking titles!
Bill Russell won 11 titles taking his teammate KC Jones along for ten of them and another few guys for nine. But as GREAT as Russell was…the best player IMHO when you consider his NCAA record as well…two National Titles there…
I never appreciated Russell’s game when I was young. I like Wilt better, more athletic…but now as I look back over fifty years of cheering for sports Bill Rusell is the quintessential defintion of WINNER!
Well move over Bill! If you look up winner in the dictionary you now have to see the picture of Tom Brady! For all their talent and dedication and effort Brady and Russell were gifted but most of all they had that intanglible WINNER in them. Michael Jordan, Tiger, some others come close but not to Brady and Russell in my pantheon of true winners.
BTW Both Brady and Russell had something else beside their freaking amazing record of TITLES. They were both class acts off the field as well! The were winners in sports and in the rest of life as well.

So grateful to be witnessing history every time this man takes the field

Bill Russell won almost all of his championships back when the NBA had 8 teams and 2 rounds of postseason play.

@Passing
Certainly take your point! This is why I favor Tom Brady as the GOAT of winners.
But he beat whomever they set in front of him in college and the pros.
It’s always hard to compare athletes across eras that’s for sure but Brady is clearly exceptional among athletes in any sport from any era.

I think it’s safe to say that the SB records of 10 appearances, 7 rings and 5 SB MVPs are untouchable. That will never, ever happen again. Not if the NFL exists for another 100 years. But the yards, completions, TDs? With the 17th and 18th games and the rules favoring the offenses, those records may be vulnerable sooner than we think. If he plays until he’s 50, he can put all those stats in “Cy Young” territory where they’re absolutely unassailable. But somehow I doubt he cares enough about individual stats to think “I need to play for X number of years to get to 100k yards and 750 TDs.” A regular season MVP is a good sign that you are helping your team but more SB wins is probably all he really wants.

Every week he sets a new one. Even when he didn’t play, last week, the Bucs moved up in the rankings.
November 13th, 2021 at 4:33 pm
Wikipedia, may have to go to a 2 page format, to squeeze all of TB12’s records in.
November 13th, 2021 at 4:42 pm
If I wasn’t so dang busy right now, I’d help Tom with his footwork, and help him make his reads a little quicker.
November 13th, 2021 at 5:27 pm
Joe should do a post showing all the Bucs records that have fallen since he became QB.
November 13th, 2021 at 5:30 pm
Maybe in the offseason. He might be surprised who has most of the Bucs quarterback records.
November 13th, 2021 at 5:58 pm
Thx joe winston and freeman hold most of them. Brady is closing fast on that td record in only two years.
November 13th, 2021 at 6:00 pm
I know he broke multiple last year already.
November 13th, 2021 at 7:23 pm
Also for the Mike Evans haters he can join even more elite company tomorrow. Just saw the tweets from buccaneers communications.
November 14th, 2021 at 1:00 am
He should’ve got it last year but clowns have it to Shaaron Rodgers. Brady was more impressive they owe him this year
November 14th, 2021 at 6:22 am
Tom gave me 20 great years as a Pats fan. I do not miss any buck games on tv. He is a class act.
