Tom Brady On Pace For Another Single-Season NFL Record

It’s a little hard to believe Tom Brady has only twice led the league in a major quarterbacking category since he entered the NFL, especially a stat Jameis Winston mastered in 2019.
If you want a find a team whose passing offense is humming and efficient, look no further than what quarterback leads the NFL in first-down throws.
It was an annual stat dominated for years by Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.
Brady broke into the clique in 2007, leading the NFL with 240 first-down passes, a notch above Brees during the Patriots’ perfect regular season.
Brady was a little better with 261 first-down passes in 2011, finishing second to Brees (278). And Brady led the NFL with 230 in 2017, while Jameis Winston was top of the class in 2019 with 243, a good distance ahead of Dak Prescott.
Manning owns the all-time record, per Joe’s research, with 289 first-down passes during the 2013 Broncos season. That was an average of 18 first-down throws per game. Through six games this season, Brady is ahead of Manning’s pace, leading the NFL averaging 18.8 per game. Matt Ryan was top dog last season (242, 15 per game).
It truly is wild how explosive this Bucs offense is. Joe certainly appreciates it.

What else can be said about Brady?
–I just went back and watched some of the Bucs/Patriots game from 2017. A Thursday night game in Tampa. Brady vs. Winston for the first time.
Who would have ever imagined that night that Brady would be back in that stadium three seasons later winning another Super Bowl… while playing for the Bucs.

Our offense reminds me a lot of the old San Diego “Air Coryell” Offense.
My 10 year old Grandson is a huge Bucs Fan, and I remind him all the time that he is literally watching history! He will be able to tell his Grandkids that he watched Tom Brady play!

For me the TD mark of 55 is the ultimate record. As great as Brady is playing now he is well off the pace to break it……That should tell you how tough it is.
