“Dominant” Mike Evans

October 14th, 2021

Major separation.

Usually, you think of receivers who get massive separation from defenders as burners. You know, they just run away from guys trying to cover them.

Mike Evans will never be mistaken for Scotty Miller much less furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown. That doesn’t mean Evans can’t create space for himself.

In this breakdown of Evans, NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger just marvels at how Evans is able to create separation on breaks for himself. It’s a big reason why Evans tore up the sad Dolphins last Sunday.

Baldinger joked that Evans was so open he could have played without a helmet and pads and just wearing Bermuda shorts.

    Totally underrated!

  2. Rod Munch Says:

Wow, he’s making a good corner look like Ryan Smith.

BTW, this is what Dallas was doing to us week one. They have 2 very good WRs, and a 3rd good WR, and they were simply beating our corners. Even good corners get beat by good WRs if the QB has time, and the Bucs were getting no pressure.

When we finally get everyone back in the secondary, and mix that with pressure, hopefully this defense can heat back up like they did in the playoffs.

  3. Stanglassman Says:

“He Could’ve been in flip flops and done that” Baaah. That’s some funny Sh!t.

  4. unbelievable Says:

    Love it.

  5. Chris Boyd Says:

    love me some me13

  6. Dyno-White ! # 45 Says:

Evans was the Bucs main weapon when Brady was picking teams. Does Brady sign with the Bucs without Evans ? No Brady: no Gronk,no AB, nor Lenny…no championship. Never underestimate 13.

Btw the defense attracted TB too. LVD should be a Hall of Famer, but going from the NFL’s most underrated player to now the leader overshadowed by the teammates he leads like WhiteVea,Shaq, etc. Never complains .

No Evans, no LVD… no river parade.

  7. Medicated Pete Says:

Timing route. Pete could get that kind of separation. Excellent catch though

  8. geno711 Says:

Pete there were 5 different catches shown not one.

Does that medication always cause you to miss 80 percent of the plays?

  9. Mike C Says:

No pads, sure, flip flops……… well maybe.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

No need for 50-50 balls with Brady…he finds the open receiver and not the opponent’s receiver like America’s Quarterback.

  11. Mike C Says:

    True Dyno

  12. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Pete, I always assumed you were on some form of pain meds. Did not know it was a strong dose of LSD

  13. E.V. Says:

Evans should have 20-40 more touchdowns if Winston didn’t overthrow him and see him wide open all the time. I mean that was when Evans was playing with Winston for what 2-3 years. Even Brady misses him wide open….. Just saying Evans is one of the top 3 receivers…..

  14. Swampbuc Says:

Same geniuses who diss Donovan Smith have also called Mike Evans a scrub. With morons like this who needs idiots?

  15. Wild Bill Says:

Mike has been under utilized this year. Brady has had a lot more options now. With Gronk out I hope Tom looks to Mike more often. Especially on deep outs. His height advantage over dbs is a big part of his success.

  16. Leighroy Says:

EV – Evans played w Winston for 5 years, perhaps further bolstering your point.

  17. webster Says:

You guys have winston b@11$ on your breath. 1st winston and evans only played together 4 years. 2nd didn’t Evans have all pro seasons with Jameis? Wasn’t he a prowbowler with Jameis? Joe you were 100% correct. These fools are the reason you called him Americas quarterback and they still wonder why which makes them look even more foolish. Rent Free

  18. BillyBucOff Says:

Shows how little you know Webster?

    ME was drafted in 2014
JW was drafted in 2015 and played until 2019

    That’s 5 years dude!!

Should I count them out for you?

  19. David Says:

    Webster

Some do constantly have to bring up JW and I don’t understand why, he’s gone move on.

In this case, EV was merely pointing out that his numbers would be better if JW didn’t overthrow so much. And he is absolutely right.
Evans put up great numbers with Winston but they could have been a lot better because Winston simply was not very accurate and didn’t go through progressions very well. Overthrew A LOT

  20. Buczilla Says:

I expect nothing less from the second best (Antonio is the best) receiver of his generation. Considering the quarterbacks that have thrown to him for the majority of his career, what he has accomplished is nothing short of extraordinary.

  21. Rod Munch Says:

Evans became an All-Pro WR under Winston and that’s where he’s had his best seasons. Wow are you anti-Winston dopes just not very smart.

  22. Mike Says:

Man, that was some funny stuff from Baldy! Bermuda Mike!

  23. Roger Roccoforte Says:

ME13, was all-pro inspite of JW, not because. 30 ints, how many additional lost fumbles?

  24. geno711 Says:

    ME was good with Winston.

Would have been better those early years with:
Brady, Watson, Wilson, Rothleisberger, Rivers, Rodgers, Prescott, Cousins, Eli, Luck, Palmer, Stafford, Ryan, and Brees.

He probably would have been the same with Fitzpatrick, Tannehill, Bridgewater and Flacco.

The others he probably would have been worse with the others.
