Injury Status Updates
October 5th, 2021Yesterday, Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians had some intel on the long list of hurt Bucs. Here is a roundup:
Carlton Davis: Too early to know when Arians spoke Monday. He is getting an MRI.
Jamel Dean: Should return to practice this week to prepare for playing Miami at home but Arians wouldn’t commit to Dean dressing for the game.
Antoine Winfield: Suffered a concussion in the win over the Belicheats. Arians doubts, in part due to the timing of NFL concussion protocols, that Winfield will suit up Sunday.
Sean Murphy-Bunting: Though he is making progress, per Arians, SMB is “a ways away.”
Jason Pierre-Paul: Arians thought JPP might practice this week. Again, Arians wasn’t willing to commit to anything. Arians said he would have a better idea of JPP’s status on Wednesday.
Rob Gronkowski: Though asked specifically about Gronk, Arians didn’t directly speak about him, only answering the question (which included updates on Dean and JPP) saying he would know more come Wednesday. On Sunday night, Arians seemed to suggest that the report from Jay Glazer of FOX Sports that Gronk’s injuries were worse than first thought, the report may have been a tad overblown. Arians didn’t deny that Gronk had a broken rib and a punctured lung (which he called “a pinch”) but noted the punctured lung was so small that X-rays didn’t pick it up.
Giovani Bernard: Arians didn’t directly respond to a query about Bernard but suggested an update would come Wednesday.

I think Donovan Smith has the Butt Flu

Wow! That’s a very long list!
Hopefully it will get shorter as the season goes by
Go Bucs

Unfortunately it seems like Carlton Davis is going to miss significant time and SMB is also probably multiple weeks away, it’s time to offer up some mid round draft picks for at least a corner or two who is adequate.

Idk, are we officially that desperate yet to trade draft capital to dress CBs versus the dolphins, eagles and bears? We can (key word) win those games on offense alone if necessary. But we do need healthy starters for the Saints in week 8 though. Hopefully 4 weeks is enough healing time?
October 5th, 2021 at 2:05 am
I’m not sure if we need them vs saints even. Look at what Winston has done so far. The best 2 qb out of our next 7 games is Jalen hurts and Carson Wentz.

Well fortunately all the injuries happened early in the season and the rest of the games up until the bills should be easy enough to win without everyone who is out right now. I’m sure by the time it gets closer to the 8th or 9th week all these guys will be back to playing again and try to stay injury free until the playoffs which I foresee happening.

It’s gonna be like last year in the sense that this time will not reach its peak until late season, but this time due to injuries rather than getting acclimated to a new team.
October 5th, 2021 at 6:16 am
*this TEAM will not reach its peak
October 5th, 2021 at 6:46 am
A lot of injuries right now for the Bucs but thankfully no season ending injuries.
October 5th, 2021 at 7:06 am
Good thing we have an earlier bye week this year.
What about the injury to OJ Howard…..must have one because he isn’t getting targets.
October 5th, 2021 at 7:27 am
That’s dang bear half the starting D that is injured right now. I know it’s Miami, but we may have a rough game coming up. The offense needs to score 45.
October 5th, 2021 at 7:29 am
Lol!
Coach speak for a punctured lung … may have been a pinch…. Lol
Love it !
October 5th, 2021 at 7:51 am
Do yourselves a favor Bucs and bring in GAREON CONLEY. CONLEY is a shutdown corner that has taken care of Tyreek Hill and Antonio Brown. CONLEY is not old and is a good family guy as well. What are you waiting for LICHT?????
October 5th, 2021 at 8:46 am
BUCS FAN SINCE 1976
ANSWER: MONEY !!!
They need to trade a TE for a CB .No draft capital ,they have wasted enough on the back end fife n drum corp.
As much as I like OJ HOWARD how many yards is he getting us on the bench ?? Hes awesome at catching and fast but not real good at blocking.
Never thought much about Gronk because I never watched the AFC much, but hes the MAN ..
Coach let these guys heal up PROPERLY. Instead of pressing them into service ….
October 5th, 2021 at 8:47 am
Hopefully Desir & Robinson can come through.
October 5th, 2021 at 8:48 am
Whats to like about Howard? Nothing.
October 5th, 2021 at 8:50 am
Yes. Bring Conley in Licht. After all what do you have to lose except a little time.
October 5th, 2021 at 9:20 am
Bucs need to move the pocket a little to get more out of the Offense. Tom always at the same spot is becoming a problem. He’s taking too many hits, and things need to change to keep him healthy.
October 5th, 2021 at 9:50 am
Tom if we are bringing in former 1st round cornerbacks that did not work out, we could also bring in Justin Gilbert a Cleveland.
I am sure there are others. I would rather the Buc’s explore someone on a team that is playing now than someone who has not been playing.
Sherman was a good idea IMO but finding other guys who have not played in a couple of years does not generally make sense to me.
October 5th, 2021 at 10:21 am
Damn!! 3 starting CBs -Dean, SMB, Davis and Winfield.
The pass rush needs to keep bringing it.
They were much much much better against the patriots than they were the first few games, keep it up
October 5th, 2021 at 11:07 am
We do NOT need to trade picks for CBs lol we’ll be fine kids, I’m just surprised at Winfield concussion is going to keep him out….
October 5th, 2021 at 11:11 am
Ugly list. I’d let JPP get as close to 100% as possible since we are going to need him down the stretch and Tryon is more than holding his own.
October 5th, 2021 at 12:16 pm
While the stacking injuries are not a great sight, it is giving our younger guys a chance to jump into the fold and get a trail by fire.
Let’s face it you don’t make it to the NFL by being a regular Joe, all of these guys where the best from where the came from be it high school or college.
Hate to say it but sometimes injured players allow that diamond in the rough to show through. That’s how TB12 got his start and he hasn’t looked back.
October 5th, 2021 at 12:27 pm
Lol … trade OJ … magic ! Poof ! All problems solved…
OJ has more value to this team on the roster than what ever dog meat in trade he might bring.
OJ will contribute more and more as the season progresses.
For the “trade” shriekers… draft picks in 2022 talk and the Bucs will have to pay dearly for a starting caliber player off another roster.
October 5th, 2021 at 1:06 pm
I would love to see a trade for DB, maybe give up a 4th or 5th rounder for a competent backup or an aging veteran that can play still.
October 5th, 2021 at 3:33 pm
It’s been ugly at times but even without all these guys health we are 3-1. Because when it comes down to, Championship teams find a way to win. We just need to keep grinding out ugly wins until we get everyone back on the field.
October 5th, 2021 at 4:57 pm
I thought Donovan Smith had his worst game this year at Boston. He got beat frequently and could have been called for holding a bunch of times.
