“I Don’t Know What A Fumble Is Anymore”
October 4th, 2021When Belicheats receiver Jacobi Meyers had a ball jarred out by Shaq Barrett with Devin White returning the ball to the Belicheats-15, it seemed the play set the Bucs up for an easy score.
Nope. The zebras in New York said even though Meyers made a couple of steps with the ball, it was no fumble.
Refs told Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians that the two steps were two elements of a catch. There was a third element and Arians is still confused.
“I don’t know what the hell that is,” Arians said. “I’ve always thought running towards the goal line was a football move.”
Arians also confessed, “I don’t know what a fumble is anymore.”
Arians said he gave someone in officiating at the NFL offices in New York hell about that call today. Arians didn’t say who it was but the guy agreed with Arians. Unfortunately, he said, the person who agreed with him was assigned to monitor another game.
Thank goodness that blown call did not burn the Bucs.

Every nat’l radio/tv show says the Bucs got hosed by the refs. The nfl needs to do something about it
October 4th, 2021 at 5:27 pm
Well you do know what a fumble is, since that was clearly a fumble. Everyone involved with that hose job should be fired.
October 4th, 2021 at 5:30 pm
I watch other games, I see bad calls of course, but nothing like what we have seen last 2 games on the Bucs. I can’t enjoy a good play by our boys until they are lining up for the next snap. Always looking for that yellow ticker on the screen.
October 4th, 2021 at 5:34 pm
Check their bank accounts. Game was poorly refereed (if that is a word)
October 4th, 2021 at 5:42 pm
Another name for that lame a$$ call is “home cooking”. Also, since this game was so ridiculously over hyped, I wouldn’t be shocked to learn that it was called that way intentionally in order to keep eyeballs watching commercials. A huge play like that could have opened the floodgates to a butt whipping of the Patriots in the minds of the folks that made the final decision on that call. Or maybe I’m just a senile old dude? No matter, I’ll take the win. 😋
October 4th, 2021 at 5:50 pm
They actually overturned the call on the field…..unbelievable……
October 4th, 2021 at 5:53 pm
Same with the pass interference call on Whitehead when he was clearly going after a poorly thrown pass.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:00 pm
I agree with all that, but I also believe Whitehead got away with a trip they did not call, that’s why he got called for the PI that wasn’t.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:06 pm
It takes balls to bet on a game nowadays.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:10 pm
This bullchit has been happening to us every single week.
Fkn sick of it!
October 4th, 2021 at 6:11 pm
Yeas rrsq that is true about the trip…
TJ Watt did the same thing in the Steelers game, although a little more blatant, and was flagged for it.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:13 pm
Between that blown call, the missed false snap on NE’s last drive, the weak DPI on Whitehead on thr same drive, and Matt Judon throwing an elbow at Mike Evans’ head TWICE (while Evans got called for a push off)…..those were all critical calls/non calls that could’ve really screwed the Bucs.
Granted, the Bucs didn’t play their best game….but contending with the weather, some inconsistencies, AND the refs is just absurd.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:23 pm
That’s when I knew The Bucs were in for a long night and would be given nothing…except the shaft of course. Huge win…especially for Brady…who can now move on with his life/the season.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:24 pm
The big ref Boss is in New York. The Bucs are from Florida. There is the answer.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:28 pm
I was listening to Scott Zolak radio announcer for the Patriots and he stated numerous times the Bucs received a screwing by the refs. He is good.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:52 pm
If you bet on the NFL you’re a sucker. It’s like betting on professional wrestling.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:53 pm
It saddens Howard that poor Belicheat has lost it.
Even with his refs and in his stadium he still couldn’t find a way to win.
Cheatin just ain’t what it used to be.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:55 pm
Yeah numerous bad or made up calls by the zebras trying to give Belicheater the game. Refs should get fined for bad or blown calls. After three blown calls they should be suspended. Or make penalties reviewable and add 2 more challenges each game for idiot paid off bet on games officials
October 4th, 2021 at 7:00 pm
What bithers me most is whats all this review crap about? Half the time after they make a review everybody still thinks they git it wrong.
Abolish this review junk already. Its obvisously broken.
And dont i remember that reviews only get overturned if its indisputable evidence? Or did I just dream that? Cause there a couple million people disputing that crooked call so what gives?
And I swear to you people Im not on ed of these crybaby ref fans but good lord them calls were awful last night……….The PI on Sherman was weak, but I can get it. But them other two were mind blowingly brutal……..and while Im at it lets change the rule on punts so we arent rewarding fumbles. Thats a safety where I come from.

Irish I lost a good chunk of money on the Titans game in 2018…….If you remember that game you will know I didnt actually lose my money I was robbed. Had the Bucs on money line.
Last time I ever betted a penny on NFL outside handshake bets among friends.

@Joe
Suggestion Box Item, Would you PLEASE ADD A GAME BY GAME BOX SCORE Tab at the top of your page. Surely it can’t be that hard to add. And I apologize, I don’t mean to call you Sherly. *-:
October 4th, 2021 at 7:14 pm
Can anyone explain why we had Davis out on special teams, specially when we were down 2 starting corners ?
October 4th, 2021 at 7:17 pm
FOR ANYONE THAT HASNT SEEN IT YET…
Funny thing posted on Twitter for Bucs fans…
If you already own a #5 Josh Freeman jersey you can easily convert it to a Sherman jersey by covering up the FR-E with SH-R 🙂

I was AT that game. Can’t remember the thing now, the call was frightful and all the TN fans around me acknowledged it

bucluck,
Davis playing on ST’s has been explained ad nauseum on prior posts over the past two days. Please refer back to prior posts for many an explanation.
thanks.
October 4th, 2021 at 7:38 pm
alright dude, i wont do that to you. Davis regularly plays specials teams as do other players we rely on for defense ! Hell, it was pointed out Rhonde played ST’s. Aint that enough of a reason ?
October 4th, 2021 at 7:38 pm
I do believe there is something about the Bucs that makes officials make these awful calls. Missing that false start is awful. These players that are rushers are unbelievable how they can time the snap. We saw them call offsides on Barrett in Rams game where he perfectly timed his get-off exactly as ball was snapped.
I also saw a game yesterday where the defense perfectly timed and blocked a FG and ran it in for a score and they said offsides. In slow motion you can see the rusher moving at the same time as center is snapping ball.
Those plays are not offsides, and then they miss the Pats lineman false starting.
Agree with all, refs have to be held accountable and even offsides if it’s a game changing play should be looked at in NY
October 4th, 2021 at 7:52 pm
Buxszntkt – typically I would agree with you on an otherwise straight forward topic. But last night in NE was far from typical though, as the bucs already had 2 starting CBs injured and their other current starter hadn’t been with the team for 100 hours.
When your depth is dangerously thin, you shouldn’t gamble with your last remaining talented CB. Furthermore, practice squad DBs should be able to capably play special teams, that’s typically how they fight for jobs anyway!
October 4th, 2021 at 7:53 pm
buxszntkt, we will see how that decision works out. Thanks for the explanation.
October 4th, 2021 at 7:54 pm
ole BS Arians don’t know what good coaching be either!
go bucs!
October 4th, 2021 at 8:10 pm
The answer is simple. The league didn’t want a blowout on the most hyped game all season. The league did not want people going to bed at half time, neither did the network, and the sponsors that fill the leagues pockets with money. There was sooo many bad calls against the Bucs last night. Mine is the only logical answer. Mission accomplished, it was a close game that kept everyone tuned in until the last play. Our election wasn’t rigged, but the NFL sure is, they need to feed their bottom line.
October 4th, 2021 at 8:14 pm
I gotta laugh. I have been a diehard Bucs fan since I found out about them in 1979. Even back then, the refs crapped on them. It’s known that the Bucs come on the field, they not only have the other team to beat, they have to beat the refs. Dungy knew it and coached his team accordingly.
October 4th, 2021 at 8:17 pm
How could the official who agreed with Arians be assigned to monitor another game when there was NO OTHER GAME going on at that time?! That was a BS call!
October 4th, 2021 at 8:19 pm
Can’t argue with you Hodad. Without the zebras the Bucs would have outclassed the Pats. Instead, the league got an instant classic in an all-time classic storybook matchup.
Something tells me the league will take the leash off when we face the Dolphins. There’s no consequence to a blowout when the TV market will be limited to Florida at 1pm
October 4th, 2021 at 8:48 pm
Yeah that punt was jacked up. That rule has to be changed. A team shouldn’t benefit off a mistake. Just start training your return man to hot potato the ball out the back or side of endzone when backed up close.
October 4th, 2021 at 8:54 pm
It’s called hometown refereeing..
Close calls usually go that way.
Maybe give thanx for the nice hankee thrown for the 40 yard PI on bradys last drive.. lol..

Regarding whitehead..
Is it really a trip when it was more.thr hip he used? It’s a fine line there

Yeah, I was listening to Felger & Mass this afternoon (a very very entertaining show btw, worlds better than the garbage sports talk that plagues Tampa now) and they also said the refs screwed the Bucs.
They also, correctly, pointed out the Bucs are a very stupid team that is loaded with talent and would have blown out the Pats if they had better coaching. I like Arians, but I do agree that he doesn’t seem to get the most out of the team, and the team continues to make tons of stupid mistakes every week that you’d assume a veteran time like this wouldn’t make.

Seriously… i was wondering about that when it looked like the returner tried to catch it and than it hit the pylon and they called it a touchback… i was confused why the announcers didn’t say anything and they dind’t show replay… like why does he get rewarded by fumbling? that was confusing. I don’t think safey is right call either though… i guess just odd quirk and corner case? not sure ever seen it before in a kick/punt return… i will forever remember the 2005 pats / broncos playoff game though when ben watson ran 100 yards to stop a pick 6… and that dude 100% fumbled into the end zone and shoulda been
Anyways.. felt wierd being from new england and watching every pats game since 1993 and kinda feeling glad they lost. Mainly because i want brady to win #8 and pats aren’t winning the SB this year anyway.
I am truly converted bucs fan… i went to the bucs LA game (live IN LA)
October 5th, 2021 at 11:57 am
A lot of the calls that game were B.S. think the refs got it out for the Bucs.
